this was a great sequel to the first book, it had what I enjoyed from the first and improved on this. The characters were great and what I wanted. Can't wait to read more from this author.

The mages were selfish cowards saving themselves and leaving the rest of the citizens, who were magicless and even some who were magical, behind to suffer at the hands of the enemy. Ahna had suffered at the hands of her brother, and to top it off, her husband was missing. A bittersweet tale filled with intrigue, hatred, and prejudice, a surprising package indeed.

I don't think I'll be writing a review as I struggled to get through this one, and didn't really enjoy anything about it.

A smooth read. A few places were a little too slow for my liking, but I enjoyed the prose and the dialogue. This is a short review as I try and catch up. Will post a longer one later but a solid 3.5 stars rounded up to 4
