I really enjoyed catching up with Lucy and her Nan Winnie again. The case is a hard one for Lucy as it brings up memories of her Mum’s death again and with Winnie struggling with dementia it’s a difficult time for Lucy. When a newborn baby is taken from the hospital Lucy is determined to get to the bottom of it so she’ll be able to reunite Mum and baby again. A five star read follows Lucy as she tries to cope with all this.

This is book 3 in the series and they keep on getting better and better.

It's a police procedural plus a crime thriller.

The characters are starting to grow into their roles especially DC Lucy.

Someone is attacking pregnant women in this installment.

It's gritty and intriguing and it kept me interested from beginning to end.

This is the third book in the DC Lucy Murphy series (No Escape and No Fear being the previous two) and my favourite so far.

Lucy’s latest investigation is into a pregnant woman who has been murdered in Richmond Park which brings back shocking memories of how her mum was killed in a similar way when Lucy was a child. A second woman (Shelby Cooke) is attacked but fights back and manages to escape. At the scene of the attack a bag is found containing items that suggest the person was going to steal Shelby’s baby from the womb! The trauma of the attack sends Shelby into labour and she ends up being rushed to hospital and giving birth to baby Riley. The trauma doesn’t end there – it’s not long before Riley is abducted from the hospital leaving Shelby distraught. It’s not just Riley’s abduction she has to deal with, her husband Ashley is in debt with some serious guys as well as cheating on her and her dad Pete Barker is a fearsome gangster who will do anything to get his grandson back.

As well as all the above grittiness we catch up with Lucy’s personal life and her lovely nan Winnie. The investigation has stirred up memories for Lucy and she hopes that Winnie might be able to help her decide on whether she should get her mother’s murder case reopened. It’s awful as a reader to witness how distressed Winnie gets at times and her obvious confusion when she believes she is talking to her daughter not granddaughter. There are certainly some revelations for poor Lucy!

A fantastic addition to the series – go buy it!

Bookouture keep raising the height of the fence in the publishing world and their wonderful stable of authors keep on going and serving us up some amazing books. Amazon are going to have to create a sixth star for them!
The book cover is colourful and exciting and gives a great idea of the pace inside the book All 54 chapters give you twists and turns and, as always with Casey Kelleher, the characters come alive from the pages of the book.
Gangland type crime books with psychological thriller storylines make a great concoction and the author not only tells a great story with great characters but she also bring important social issues in her books into the thought process of the reader. With subjects as diverse as childhood obesity bullying, emotional fraudsters, dementia and the effects on the family, homeless people, the extent that the human mind can lead people to do things when desperate and also the way that family secrets can be uncovered way after the people involved have passed away.
This book should carry a public health warning as you will want to cut yourself off from all contact until it is finished and then you will want to read it again This is the third book in the DC Lucy Murphy series but also reads great as a standalone book.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Casey Kelleher for providing me with an electronic advanced review copy of the book in return for a honest, unbiased review,
The book is available now in e-book, paperback and audio formats

With what should be a wonderful moment in time for Ashley and Shelby proves to be anything but. They are expecting their first child but they are stressed out. Ashley is not only in debt to loan sharks, but he has a roving eye. Much more seriously, Shelby is stabbed.

Just recently, another pregnant woman was stabbed and killed. Fortunately, Shelby escapes her attacker. However, this leads to Shelby experiencing preterm labor. DC Lucy Murphy is certain both cases are connected. When Lucy begins questioning both Shelby and Ashley with hopes of identifying the attacker, she knows things are a bit off about Ashley.

The stress of being stabbed leads Shelby to delivering her baby early. When her baby is suddenly abducted Lucy is determined to do anything possible to get the baby safely back to Shelby and Ashley. The drama in this book was captivating and I was on the edge of my seat with hopes of the safe return of the infant.

The drama Shelby is experiencing with her baby is finely balanced in tis book as there is some focus on Lucy's personal life. Then there is Ashley and what he is up to in this book. Lastly, we have Pete, Shelby's father, and how he plays a pivotal role in this fabulous story. I love how all of these things were interwoven in the book and how captivating tension was in this book. I couldn't put this book down and loved how it reached a crescendo when it came to a riveting conclusion.

As No Going Back is the third book in the series, I definitely recommend reading the books in order. The previous books are No Escape and No Fear. However, as this book mostly involves the events at hand it could be read as a standalone. In my case, I have read and loved the previous books and this makes me appreciate Lucy on a deeper level.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

DC Lucy Murphy cracks the case.

No Going Back by Casey Kelleher is a police procedural based in England. In the prologue, a pregnant woman is viciously attacked in a park. A crime that is confronting even to the antagonists, the gang bully boys.

This gritty crime book deals with the seedy, gangster-ridden, impoverished side of life. Stairwells and lifts in apartment blocks are strewn with litter and smell of urine. Ex-convicts hang out in derelict buildings also full of human waste. In this milieu, the spoilt daughter of a former gang lord, Shelby Baker, is attacked while 8 months pregnant. As the blurb tells us, a baby goes missing. (I'd have thought that's a spoiler.)

This case sees 26 y.o. DC Lucy Murphy confronting the monsters in her past when her mother was murdered. Lucy witnessed it as a 6 y.o. and still suffers from PTSD as a result. Her police colleagues add a warm touch, DC Ben Holder, her chief, DS Morgan and forensic psychologist/ profiler, Zack Lownrey. A nice love triangle is set up without Lucy realising it.

The other protagonists are Shelby's husband, Ashley, who has incurred a gambling debt to the Bolland brothers, parents, Pete and Janey. The antagonists are the gangster Bolland brothers and ex-convict Jay-Jay Andrews, who is doing a dirty job for them.

No Going Back is fast-paced, has twists and turns and keeps you guessing. In Zack's words, the crime isn't heard of in the UK and rare in USA. DC Murphy, DC Holder, DS Morgan and Zack Lownrey are likable characters, worth reading further books about.
A minor quibble is the head jumping within a paragraph, and through each chapter.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.

This is a dramatic, action-packed and danger-ridden organised crime thriller which starts with a bang and ends on an equally shocking note. It's gritty and gripping with exciting developments aplenty and Kelleher really knows how to pen gangland crime. There is a couple of equally interesting plot threads and each had my heart thumping and fingers flipping the pages more and more anxiously. A cracking, fast-paced read with a palpably tense atmosphere. Highly recommended.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'No Going Back' by Casey Kelleher.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Casey Kelleher, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 29th April 2021.

This is the second book I have read by this author and it is the third book in the 'DC Lucy Murphy' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read the second book in the series 'No Fear' which I enjoyed and would recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. I am also a fan of Casey's previous book 'No Fear' and if this is half as good as that it is sure to be a great read. It also stated in the synopsis that 'Fans of Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers and Emma Tallon will love this.' I am a huge fan of Martina Cole and Emma Tallon so am looking forward to see if it lives up to this. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue and 54 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in London, UK 🇬🇧. The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture.

This book is written in third person (omniscient) perspective with the main protagonists being DC Lucy Murphy and Shelby. NnThe benefits of third person perspective especially if omniscient are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

'No Going Back' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Casey discusses/includes strong language, foetal abduction and child abduction.

Wow!!!! What another absolute success Casey!! Absolutely LOVED it!!! Another very well written action packed crime thriller thay just kept on giving. The descriptions were excellent and the setting perfect for the storyline. The synopsis and cover worked well with the plot. I can't remember when I last read a book that was written with a third person omniscient point of view but Casey has done a fantastic job. I loved being able to see every characters thoughts.

The storyline was absolutely ram packed with action which kept me turning the pages while on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happened next. The book was filled shock, suspense, tension and a twists to keep you on your toes. It was also very realistic and would make an interesting movie if done right. I never would have guessed who was behind everything. I thought I had it worked out and then BOOM came the huge twist!!! Nothing worse than guessing who did what when your not even half way through a book but there's no worry of that here. What an absolute shocker!!! The foetal abduction was completely unique and I've never come across a crime novel which has mentioned it before. Very satisfied with how it ended and I'm looking forward to reading about the next chapter in Lucy's career.

I loved the fact that it revolved around a strong female character (being female myself this is always a bonus). Lucy was realistic and strong and I love her personality and getting to meet her again. I really clicked with Lucy and also Ben who was also a strong character as well as being funny and light hearted, I really like Ben and look forward to meeting them both again. Perfect team dynamics and DS Morgan is a very competent and likeable boss. I think they all worked really well together and I'm looking forward to meeting them all again in what is bound to be an amazing next book in the series. I also absolutely adore Winnie and was very happy to meet her again. She is such a wonderful character who makes me laugh and I'm quite sad to see her suffering. She is definitely larger than life and made me laugh out loud on several occasions in this book!! I am loving watching Lucy and Ben's relationship and bond grow and develop and think the last scene they were in together was perfect.

Another MASSIVE congratulations to Casey on yet another successful novel. Loved every part of it and was sad to see it come to an end. I hope your busy working on the next book in this absolutely epic series!!

Overall another fantastic book in the action packed, page turning, breathtaking must read DC Lucy Murphy series

Genres covered in this book include Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Crime Thriller and Action amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers, Emma Tallon and anyone who loves non stop action thrillers.

303 pages.

This book is just £2.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Another great read from Casey Kelleher.
Ashley and Shelby are expecting a baby but life is far from settled for both of them.
Ashley owes money to loan sharks and after a beating is told Shelby better watch herself too.
Shelby has enough waiting for Ashley to come home so decides to walk to her parents and stay with them. On the way she is attacked and this makes the baby arrive sooner than expected.
DC Lucy Murphy is called to speak to her about the attack and knows straight away Ashley is hiding something from them all.
Another pregnant woman hadn’t been so lucky and was stabbed and killed in the same area so Lucy and Holder link the two cases.
Just as Shelby is getting over the shock of being attacked and having the baby early, baby Riley is abducted from the hospital.
Shelby is beside herself with worry and Lucy promises she will find the baby boy for her.
I loved the way the story came together and I had an inkling about the kidnapper but wasn’t completely sure.
I also liked learning more about Lucy’s past and meeting her Nan, Winnie again.
This is a great book that I loved reading.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Oh wow wow wow, What a cracking book.

Shelby and Ashley Cooke, are expecting their first baby, but there is a fly in the ointment namely Shelby's parents Pete and Janey Baker. Ashley desperately wants to support his new little family but Pete always ridicules him for it.

someone is out there attacking pregnant women, enter DC Lucy Murphy, unfortunately, it is close to home for her as she is remembering her mum being murdered.

Shelby hates where they live and wants to get off the Griffin estate. Ashley gets a dead cert on a horse race and stupidly borrows money from the violent Boland brothers hoping he can win enough to buy the house Shelby wants.

Well, this was a brilliant book that kept me turning page after page to see what happened next.

Casey has a brilliant crime mind and writes a damn good story. Just fantastic.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this excellent book. xxx

Another belter of a book in this fantastic series, this time Lucy and the team are working on a case involving someone targeting pregnant women and is just as addictive as the previous two books, Winnie is as always hilarious and I love the ongoing story of Lucy's mums brutal murder and hoping that Lucy will change her mind on the big decision she has made, can't wait for the next book!

Every time I hear that Casey Kelleher has a new book out I don’t even need to read the blurb I just have to read it. Well like all her previous books this one was an absolute cracker of a read. I flipping loved it and just wanted to keep on reading this in one sitting it is that good. This story had me on the edge of my seat at times and talk about a gripping read. As well as Lucy and her team trying to find the abducted baby we also learn more about Lucy’s private life and of course we catch up again with the wonderful Winnie Murphy who I absolutely love.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in giving this book 5 ⭐️

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘No Going Back’ by Casey Kelleher in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Pregnant Shelby Cooke, daughter of local gangster Pete Baker, is walking through a London park late at night when she’s attacked but manages to escape. She’s taken to hospital where her baby boy, Riley, arrives early and the next day while lying in his crib he’s taken away by an unknown person. DC Lucy Murphy finds this case particularly difficult as it brings back personal memories that she’d rather forget but time is against her as she needs to identity Shelby’s attacker and find baby Riley before Shelby’s father beats her to it.

‘No Going Back’ is the third gritty thriller in the series set in South West London, action-packed with a strong plot and plenty of drama and suspense, where DC Lucy Murphy strives to catch the villains and make a difference to the law-abiding members of the community. I’ve enjoyed each book in the series and have been looking forward to reading more of DC Lucy Murphy and her boss DS Morgan who supports her in whatever decision she makes about her past, and learn of her growing friendship with DC Ben Holder. This is a gripping thriller, well-written and thoroughly enjoyable, and the twists and turns kept me enthralled from page one to the end.

I really enjoyed this book! This was a great thriller that was easy to keep reading until the very end. Nice twists and keeps you guessing. After reading this book, I realized it was book 3 in a series. While I didn’t feel like I missed anything important in regards to understanding the storyline of this book, I’m going back to read the first two because I loved it!

Bloody hell! Casey Kelleher is back on form with the third book in the Lucy Murphy series. I flew through this because I couldn't bare to put it down! Every time I read her latest book, I can't help but see the growth in her talents and she has quickly risen up the ranks to be at the top of the gritty, gangland crime genre.

I absolutely adore the DC Lucy Murphy series! For me they are totally flawless. Packed with fabulous characters, this book has a brilliant storyline and is thoroughly engaging throughout.

DC Lucy Murphy is facing a case that brings her back 20 years to when her mother was murdered-now pregnant women are being attacked and one was killed. DC Murphy needs to find the killer before he strikes again. Shelby is one of the victims with a complicated home life, but she and her baby managed to survive, though with no thanks to her husband who was out placing bets to cover his other debts instead of at home when his wife was attacked. While she’s recovering, the worst happens and her baby is taken from the hospital. Since this is a new twist to the attacks, DC Murphy works to figure out the connection to the two cases so she can find the baby. Will she be able to put the pieces together before anything happens to the baby or another attack takes place?
I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced and even though it was the third in the series and I hadn’t read the others, it didn’t take anything away from it (although I do intend to go back and read the first 2 after liking this one so much) And I liked seeing tough DC Murphy’s soft side in dealing with her Nan and her Alzheimer’s, which combined with these new cases, triggers flashbacks in Lucy to her mom’s murder, which was never solved.
Although I did predict who the attacker was, it didn’t make the story an less stressful as there were so many shady characters with the potential to prove me wrong. And the setting is far from luxurious, so the bad guy could be your neighbor.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.
