Meant to Be My Cowboy is the third book in the Wranglers of Wyoming series. Annie and Jonah's families are enemies but, the attraction between them is undeniable. When Annie is in danger Jonah is determined to keep her safe. This is a great story with wonderful characters. I can't wait to read the next book

One last ride through Wyoming with the Merrick family, and whew, what a ride it was! This series has been action-packed from the get-go and although this one had a slower start, it was still edge-of-your-seat reading combined with heart-pounding romance and that 100% works for me.

Jonah and Annie are from families on either side of a feud, giving them Romeo and Juliet feels, and I have to admit, it threw a spanner in the works when it came to my predictions for the end. It surprised me—and I couldn't be happier about that. Sure, guessing is fun and guessing correctly is good for the ego, but IDK, give me unpredictability any day.

As always, the warmth and tight-knit feel of the Merrick household adds to the overall atmosphere of the book, making it welcoming and feel good even when there's drama and bad guys and life threatening situations. I would seriously love to be a member of the Merrick family—and not just for the deliciously described meals.

Sad that this is the end of the Wranglers of Wyoming series, but it was a rewarding way to say goodbye and I can't wait to see what R.C. Ryan has in store next.

Jonah is the last and youngest of the brothers to meet his one. That is about to change when Annie walks into the local bar - she is trying to get away - but then walks right into his writer's cabin. They bond over wild horses and hiking...so loved this part. It's such a cute story with this big brave wonderful family. Love all the Ham words.

This one made me want to go hiking in the Tetons.

This is a cowboy romance suspense, and this is the third book in the Wranglers of Wyoming Book series. It long me so long to get into this book. I did not care about the characters, and I also do not think the two main characters went together well. I do not think the romance or the suspense was enough to keep you pulled into the story. I did like the ending. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Forever) or author (R. C. Ryan) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Meant to Be My Cowboy by R C Ryan is a continuation of the story of the Merrick brood, a modern day family living in Wyoming who have a tendency to take the law into their own hands when law enforcement doesn't act quickly enough. This story focuses on Jonah Merrick, cowboy, or as he is know to fans of his books, J R Merrick. He is sitting in Noni's Bar and Grill when in comes the most beautiful girls he's ever seen: Annie Dempsey. He doesn't chase after he, too many other guys are, but he knows he'll see her again. His brother's think he's just a little too laid back about it. But, she her he does, while he is at his cabin writing, she just wanders up, believing she is still on public land. They hike, and set a date for a horseback ride. It's a while into their relationship when they discover each other's surname. They bother decide the feud is too powerful and they should back away. Jonah is miserable for several days and decides that was a stupid decision so he goes to her apartment to try and convince her. He hears yelling and then a man bursts out of the door. He looks in and she's shaking and crying and so happy to see him. Explaining the situation to him, he immediately realizes she's not safe and takes her to his family's ranch.

It all gets complicated but every one of the Merrick's loves her and wants her to stay. It doesn't take long before they realize how Jonah feels about her. Jonah thought he was protecting her, but he let his guard down and she was gone. That's where law enforcement doesn't act quickly enough. There were some heart pounding moments before the Merrick's save her, but all's well that end's well. The conclusion is foregone but the path to it was littered with violence, misunderstandings, and tender moments. It was a decent story, and the Merricks are good characters. If you live modern cowboy romance with a little thriller mixed in, this book is for you!

Annie comes across some damning evidence that make her look bad and decides to go home. Its when she's back home that her life is threatened and Jonah can't help but want to help her out. Problem is she and his family have a long feud going on that makes it clear that they shouldn't be even near eachother but will stick around until the issue is handled.

I really enjoyed this book, it was kinda slow going at first but then again I'm used to stories like this with the whole mystery and threats to be so action backed theres barely any time to breathe. But this was a pretty good paced. Then there was the family feud going on which made is clear they shouldn't be around eachother but Annie needed help and Jonah and his family set aside differences and provided. It was so nice seeing how supportive they were. Then it came down to the whole mystery of why she came back home and her being framed by something she didn't do. I was curious to see how things would eventually be handled once it came down to it. I did like the romance between the two, I'm a sucker for the whole forbidden romance thing even if it was accepted pretty quickly but it was still really enjoyable. Overall pretty great book I enjoyed it.

I love cowboy journeys, some better than others. I have not read any other books in this series, and don't feel I missed anything, so a good stand alone. The storyline was awesome, the romance cooking. The drama and mystery was intriguing, the action was great, a bit too short, but I didn't get sucked into it the way I love to. Too many characters in one house. So, the generations are kind of a stretch for me as well. A ninety plus G-Grandad, the Grandparents who could be seventy-ish, the Dad who could be fifty-ish, then Jonah who could be late twenties? Any bigger gap in age almost makes it impossible, since Jonah has older brothers, plus their wives. So, in trying to remember all them, plus Billy the cook, Chet the manager, Jonah's aunt, and anyone else that came in to the Merrick's lives I couldn't stay in the actual journey. I still enjoyed reading it, just wish I could've found a bigger depth to the two mains without all the extras, and been immersed through the whole read, because it really was a great story.

A great story of friends to lovers or enemies to lovers! Their families have been in a feud for many years but they don't realize until it's too late.

The writer saves the damsel in distress and all the way we're cheering them on. This was a fun, action-packed story that kept you in the edge of your seat.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

R.C. Ryan's Wranglers of Wyoming series is one that I've enjoyed since it began. Meant to Be My Cowboy is the third book in the series and while it's nice to have read the others, you can read this one as a standalone.

Jonah Merrick is both a rancher and a mystery writer. He loves that he can live on his family's ranch and write his books while staying out of the limelight. The last thing he wants to do is give interviews. The celebrity is not at all what he's about. He's all about his family and his quiet life.

Annie Dempsey has just fled California to get herself away from a bad situation. Even she doesn't realize the depths of what she's running from when she comes to Devil's Door to find solace with her aunt and uncle.

When Annie goes hiking and ends up on the Merrick family property out by Jonah's cabin the two strike up a friendship and begin spending time together. When Jonah realizes that Annie is in trouble, his instincts kick in and all he wants to do is help her. He brings her to the family ranch to help keep her safe and encourages her to go to the authorities.

The two continue to grow closer as they spend more and more time together and it becomes clear to Jonah that he's not ready to let her go and he really wants her to stay permanently. Will Annie be on board with that? Especially given some of the extenuating circumstances?

This story moved at a very good pace for me and it had me hooked from the very beginning. There was a good amount of romance, but also plenty of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus, I'm a fan of the large Merrick brood, so getting to see all of them again was great as well.

This was a full story with interesting main characters and included drawing a picture of a well detailed world building. The areas, the families even down to the foods. There were a few times when it went on a bit too long with some of that. But you could feel the community sense to the story.
Jonah was so skilled and was often a slight contradiction when it came to not only being a cowboy but other things as well. I'll let the new readers discover those things. He was also a good guy all the way through.

The Merrick family was a great group of people who added so much to the story. No matter what they were there for not only family but stepped up for others too. They were one formidable force.
The feud between the two families is well explained and serves up quite a bit of emotion but it's not the only emotional times.
The dangers to Annie is real and she has some powerful forces trying to take her out. That part of the story was really good with surprise after surprise showing up. Dramatic ending with a good Epilogue.

This book has just the right mix of romance and suspense. I loved the instant attraction and awareness between Jonah and Annie. The handsome charismatic cowboy and best selling author, Jonah, has a laid back attitude and a lot of charm. Annie is smart, determined and trying not to draw attention to herself. She and Jonah make a connection over their love of nature, a connection that is strong enough to withstand the discovery that their families are enemies. That connection also leads Jonah to offer Annie sanctuary and protection on the family ranch when he comes to realize that trouble has followed her to town. His family respects his decision, no matter her family background, and they all show their mettle, their kindness and support when Annie’s troubles begin to escalate. They trust Jonah’s judgement and they treat Annie like an honoured guest. They also rally to defend her. It isn’t long before Annie and Jonah both realize that they want a chance at a future together, but someone means to make sure that doesn’t happen.

I loved the fascinating and intriguing characters, the charming romance and the suspenseful story line that ending in a very satisfying conclusion. This book was easy to read and hard to put down. I would highly recommend this book. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I LOVE a good cowboy book and this was had the added benefit of our main character, Jonah Merrick, being both a cowboy and an author!! I mean he chops wood, builds furniture, and helps on his family ranch while working out plot points! That is a book boyfriend if I ever read one.

Annie Dempsey shows up in the town of Devil's Door with a cloud from her past hanging over her head but quickly falls into the hospitality of the Merrick family and more specifically Jonah. Jonah's cabin/writing office was one of my favorite things outside of the actual romance. It helped create the perfect background for their budding friendship to blossom into an epic love story. Jonah and Annie had a great connection and so many shared passions in spite of their very different backgrounds and professions. I truly enjoyed reading this book!!

This cowboy story was a fun read full of a few unexpected twists and adventures. Add to that the entire Merrick family was awesome! I belatedly discovered that this is actually the 3rd book in the series so I'm looking forward to reading the first two books this summer!

Annie Dempsey has just left a toxic relationship and her need for a place to lay low and start a new life has led her to Devil’s Door, Wyoming. She’s not looking for another relationship but when a handsome stranger steps in to protect, she finds him impossible to resist. Throwing caution to the wind, Annie ignores all her own rules, especially given the fact that her new prince charming is a Merrick, part of the very family who has been estranged enemies of her own family for years.

Jonah Merrick doesn’t care that Annie is a Dempsey, he’s still determined to keep her safe. She also stirs wholly unfamiliar feelings in him. Despite his family’s apprehensions, Jonah brings Annie to stay at the family ranch to keep her safe from the villain’s pursuing her. As her stay lengthens, Jonah realizes he’ll do anything to keep Annie by his side, permanently.

This book was simultaneously sweet and suspenseful, and the pacing was just right to hold my attention. Annie had to grow on me a bit, but anything she did that I found annoying was easy to brush off since she was in a highly stressful situation herself. Quiet, slightly broody Jonah made for an interesting hero, and I loved his combination of tough, capable rancher, and introverted mystery writer. His chivalry and protectiveness, as well as his openness with Annie about his feelings made him a real winner as a hero for me. I was a little bit annoyed by the way the final climactic/actiony scenes were handled and especially the control-freak federal agent who had, in my opinion, way too much page time and caused an unwarranted separation between the MCs that disturbed the story’s flow. I think this scene and the one following it could’ve been handled in a way that allowed the hero to really shine and provided some really satisfying romantic declarations, so it felt like a missed opportunity and when those declarations did come, it felt a bit anticlimactic. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story and was thoroughly charmed by the Merrick family and their close-knit dialogue, and I was delighted to see a satisfactory resolution for Liz and Chet as well.

Y'all the Merrick family is back and you know if you have been reading this series what that means, HAM is back. This book really didn't disappoint. I was so happy to get a chance to read it. I realized this book was going to be the last book in the series and I was a little disappointed because if you have been following along Aunt Liz has quickly become one of my favorite characters and I wasn't sure if we would see much of her in this book. However the author throws a twist in this story and it involves Liz. I liked Annie she was a fighter and ready to take to bat anyone who bad mouthed her or her family. I Liked Jonah but I did feel he just really showed his heart through out and did not keep it close to his vest, you knew where you stood with him thats for sure. The author throws some twist and turns in the book and keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. There is some adult situations in this book which might not be suitable for all readers. Overall I am sad to see this family go but this book was so worth the read.

Engaging and exciting romantic suspense. This was my introduction to the Merrick family. Sorry I haven't read the previous ones in this series, but that did not lessen my enjoyment of this one. Situations within the family were nicely resolved. I am eager to read more by this author.

I would like to see more about Devils Door, Wyoming!

Annie Dempsey had just gotten out of a relationship when she was framed for the theft of some money from one of her private banking clients. But could moving to Devils Door, Wyoming and meeting rancher Jonah Merrick whose family had been enemies of the Dempsey family for many years help solve the mystery?

I really liked Meant to Be My Cowboy because it mixes a good romance with suspense with Annie and Jonah falling in love and finding out who had framed her for the theft. I will miss the Merrick family because everyone needs someone like them helping them out!

What starts out as a simple escape from an ugly uncomfortable situation somewhat quickly escalates into a dangerous one. One could possibly think of the victim of this story as rather naïve but that would be truly unfair. In the world of internet and such, people become unwilling victims of fraud all too easily. It just makes more important to be diligent with personal information. But what happens when you realize someone has opened a bank account in your name, with all your personal information intact, and then deposits a huge sum of money. Annie is a financial expert which makes it even more unrealistic that she would fall prey to such a scheme. But for now Annie needs a safe place to land until she can hopefully clear her name and her reputation.
Annie winds up in Devils Door Wyoming a blimp on the map as far as she is concerned. Her uncle is a local banker and will surely give her a place to hide and regroup. She certainly doesn’t expect her troubles to follow her here to a small ranch town. But Annie quickly realizes that there is no place safe enough. And unfortunately, she also realizes that she just may put others in jeopardy.
Annie has followed her family into the finance world. She works with clients helping them manage their investments for their future. As the facts of her duplicity become uncovered all roads seems to point to Annie. She had the means, know how and opportunity. Perhaps it was a case of greed. But when Jonas meets Annie all he sees is a bright light, something that is missing from his life.
Jonas is a well-known author who likes his privacy. So his creative work is done at a little cabin on his family’s large ranch. Part of a large family has its advantages and disadvantages, but this is a family that takes care of its own. Well known in Devils Door for having extraordinary resources and for being vastly resourceful.
Jonas knows his family has his back but when he approaches them to help Annie, he is unsure what their reaction will be. Annie’s and Jonas’ families have a history. One not easily dismissed. But one thing Jonas is sure of, his family won’t turn their back on someone he cares about, and Annie has captured his attention.
What I love about MEANT TO BE MY COWBOY and this series is that we have come full circle with this remarkable group of characters. And in MEANT TO BE MY COWBOY we are reunited with them all. Such an amazing voyage thanks to R. C. Ryan who creatively kept a group of fabulous characters alive and viable for so many stories.

I always enjoy the closeness of the Merrick family in this series. But for some reason, the romance keeps missing the mark for me. Thank you so much for letting me into this world.
