The true story of Ariel and her sister growing up different. Ariel tells about her many, many surgeries and how after each one, she didn't look like herself anymore. Also, she tells about how hard it is to grow up different in a world where beauty is celebrated. A story that will stick with you.

Wow! What an amazing read. This young adult memoir was everything I hoped it would be: beautiful, compelling, and a smack in the face for ableism. Please pick up this book and educate yourself on facial difference, and what it's like to keep going in the face of systemic social standards that need to be undone! 5/5

Loved this book- a honest, entertaining, heartbreaking memoir about sisterhood and growing up different. These sorts of memoirs my library collection is lacking- and there is a real need in the community for people of different abilities telling their own stories. The writing is excellent and the pacing easy to read.
