This is a beautifully illustrated book with a poetic mix of animals, seasons, color, and rhymes. I was not aware that it had Christian messaging, which is not typically my preference to review. The religious sentiment was not overwhelming but it does feel somewhat disconnected from the more accessible wording intended for children. There were many opportunities to engage children in reading this book by asking questions about the scenes or about what they think might happen next. This book is best for maybe a light bedtime read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and B&H Publishing Group (B&H Kids) for this ARC copy.

The Moon Speaks is a children’s picture book by Jason G. Duesing.

Summary: This board book is designed to show small children the beauty of God’s creation through charming illustrations, scripture, and more.

My Thoughts: Personally, this is not a book I would want to read over and over as the words didn’t really grab me. I think I would just have preferred the scriptures to be honest.

BUT, I will say the artwork is absolutely gorgeous, and if you are looking for a book to introduce little ones to the fact that God created the earth and the beauty that surrounds us, this might be a good choice for you. It would make a nice present as well.

I would like to thank B&H Publishing Group for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you.

This is a creative Christian perspective on our world. The nature and beauty that God gifted us. This is a simple, short book that children will love, with beautiful pictures of nature.

Each time you read it you could use it to help learn or reinforce other learning and skills. This is especially great for those of you who are looking for Christian based study resources.

This would be great for a study on different landforms, animals, season, rhyming words and poetry. You could have children look at each page and name the different part (rhyming words, what season it looks like, name the animals, etc.). I love to use books like this to cover wide range of topics with children.

You could always discuss color as well, for younger children by asking they what color is the sky, tree, bear, etc. or use it for simple counting. Count the animals. Get them site reading with the repetitive words. Have them count the how many times they see the word “moon”, “cloud”, etc on the page. Do a bar graph and have them color it in each time they see the main word on the page and then compare.

Use these ideas to create your own unit study or pair with worksheets and other resources. Alternatively, this could just me a fun way to teach children without them thinking of it as learning.

This was given to me for review purposes, which are always my own honest opinions, via NetGalley.

A little poetry book for little children, to revel on God's creations. The moon, the stars, and all creations of God's are wonderful. Why? Because He is wonderful.

This is also serves as a reminder for me, when I'm feeling sad or unworthy, I am one of God's creations, and all of His creations are good. Therefore I am good, I am worthy, and I am loved. Made lovingly and meticulously by God's hands, I am special.

Creation speaks of the glory of God. Seeing God's world during the night with the moonlight is awe inspiring. Each illustration gives an attribution of God's goodness in creation. A book that is meant to be shared and to share with our children God's glory!

A special thank you to B&H Kids and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The Moon Speaks is a beautifully illustrated poetic picture book for young children to help introduce them to the creations made by God all around us in nature, such as the snow, the clouds the water in the streams etc.
Thus book is very short at 24 pages but an ideal length for a little one.
A lovely rhyming book for all children to enjoy.

"The heavens declare the glory
of God, and the sky above
proclaims his handiwork."
-PSALM 19:1

"The Moon Speaks" is a beautiful poetic board book revealing the wonderment of God. The author encourages the reader to discover the beauty and magic of their surroundings and to appreciate what God has created for them to enjoy and marvel at. The illustrations are gorgeous and draw you into the celebration. The book lends itself to a perfect bedtime story or devotional time. I highly recommend it.

The Moon Speaks is a sweet children’s poem illustrating how creation reveals God. The illustrations and imagery are beautiful, it is a pleasure to read at bedtime and calming for sleepy children and bedtime devotions.

As it is a picture board book, it suggests that it is for younger children but some of the words wouldn’t necessarily be in a preschooler’s general vocabulary (such as “nourishing” and “pure”). The target audience felt a little confused and I’m not sure how much my three-year-old grasped the message of the book. I could see how it would be a great book for older children to read to their younger siblings though.

Nevertheless, he enjoyed looking at the pictures and when asked what his favourite part was, he said he liked the owl. It’s a great primer for explaining big theological concepts to little ones so I appreciate Jason Deusing expanding his theological audience to include toddlers.

Thank you to NetGalley and B&H Kids for this ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Such a beautifully illustrated book full of woodland animals. The moose is my favorite even though I loved them all. The poetic nature story tells how God brings to us the trees, clouds, snow and more. I highly recommend it to kids of all ages. Thanks so much #netgalley for the early review copy. I definitely need a physical copy for my forever shelf. I loved it.

The Moon Speaks

A poetic look at the earth and teaching about life. How life breaths and how magical the world is. The animals enjoy nature, and find connections to each part of it.

Wonderful book.
Beautiful rhymes, yet I don't find them very simple.
Beautiful illustrations, that show different times of the year and landscapes, as well as, different creatures that God has created.
