The Virgin and Viscount is my first book by Robyn DeHart. Even though this is part of a series, I felt the author kept enough details so I didnt feel lost. While I think its always better to read books in order, I highly enjoyed this one and look forward to reading more. Interesting characters, great banter..overall really liked!

I loved it! Mostly, I loved the characters. The story flows beautifully, and I think it has enough exciting moments to keep the readers entertained. If you are among the readers who love angst, then this book is definitely for you. Be ready for some embarrassing scenes and some very hot ones.

While I wish I had read the prior books in this series, because it seems there is a plot that runs throughout the series, this story was incredibly easy to get lost in.
The characters, Matilda and Sullivan, had such great banter between each other and I love a great enemies-to-lovers story! Sullivan knew which buttons to push to make Tilly (Matilda) fluster.
Both characters were stubborn yet each had their self doubt but in different ways than the other.
The great declaration of love that makes these stories so great was one of my favorites in a long time.
I only wish more of the story was resolved. I can only hope that it continues in the next story and I get my answers.

This is an enemies to lovers, damsel in distress and reverse beauty and the beast story (though the beast is Matilda, but only in her mind). Matilda Brooks doesn’t like Sullivan Chase, Viscount Glenbrook and never has. The feeling is mutual. Sullivan is always teasing Tilly about her freckles all over her and calls her Freckles all the time, which Tilly despises. But when Tilly’s coach breaks down on the way back to London and Sullivan comes across her, he is nothing but a gentleman and takes her to the closest Inn for the night where they end up having to share one room. As her reputation is ruined, he does the honorable thing and agrees to marry her to save her reputation. Tilly is resigned to never having a marriage of love, as she is not as beautiful as her sister and mother and has been reminded of this all her life. So how could Sullivan ever want to marry her let alone ever fall in love with her.

I did enjoy this story and thought the premise was fun and enjoyable. I did get tired of Tilly constantly putting herself down because she didn’t believe she was beautiful enough for anyone to love. This was mentioned way too many times during the story. Add in the intrigue of the Ladies of Virtue and you have some added mystery and suspense into the story, which fit in nicely. Overall, this was an enjoyable story and I’m interested in reading the other stories in this series.

I have to admit that I didn't love this one but it was mostly because I didn't love the characters. While this is my first Robyn DeHart book, it won't be my last as I know some books just don't click every time. I'll check out her other stories but this one just wasn't for me.

This is part of a series and while there may be some minor spoilers to other books each book csn be read as standalone.

What I loved: That Tilly wasn't perfect in her appearance, freckles, tall, gaped teeth but Sullivan secretly lusted after her for years. I love an arranged/forced marriage and this one didn't disappoint. The sexual chemistry was off the chart hot.

What I didn't like: Once again we have a couple who refuse to sit down and have an honest conversation. So much hardship could have been avoided if they just spoke to one another. The mystery of Sullivan's brother's death ended too abruptly for my liking.

overall the pluses make up for the minuses so I would recommend this book to anyone who loves heat, intrigue and a decent plot.

I rated this book 3 stars because, overall, I enjoyed the story, but there were a few things that fell flat for me. One of the biggest things is that on the major plot points wasn't resolved. It was kind of brushed aside on the last page. If that's how it was going to be "resolved" then I wish it hadn't been part of the story. That time could have been used building up the main characters relationship. Speaking of the main characters, I wish that they had talked to each other about their insecurities earlier in the story. I think it would have made the relationship even better. I will say, the steamy bedroom scenes, *chef's kiss*. I wish the story had been longer so that the plot points had more time to work themselves out. And, also, I liked the characters and would have loved more banter between them.

If you like steam, angst, and a little mysterious this one is for you.
Matilda and her brother in law Sullivan haven't always gotten along. She finds him arrogant and lazy and he's always teasing her. She tries to make him see that its time for him to take responsibility for the title he now hold.

A carriage accident leaves him with no other option but to help Tilly get home safe. Forced to share a room for the night, someone spots them spots the next morning and they are left with no other choice than to marry as soon as possible.

When a carriage accident throws them together Matilda finds herself married to a scoundrel of the first order.
Sullivan is not quite the scoundrel he's made out to be.
This book is a enemy to friends to lovers title by Robyn DeHart.
It is a fun tale of inconvenience and love.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book to review from NetGalley. This review is my honest and unfiltered opinion.
This one is a nice fluff piece of regency romance. The writing is at times, rambling, to me. I think this story could have benefitted from some more editing. I ended up skipping a few pages over what I felt was extra stuff just not needed in the book. The story is a typical historian romance, with an effort to build suspense using an overarching arc that spans multiple books. It does feel like that overarching arc fell short of the mark, since I felt the book tries hard to be a romantic thriller, but it is more romance (with some kink thrown in), and a sprinkling of the thriller part, for form’s sake.
Our MC (Tilly) is portrayed as an unconventional woman, who is very interested in helping clean the streets of pickpockets. I couldn’t figure out if it was just pickpockets, or other crimes as well that Tilly and her group get involved in though. That was an angle that should have been e plowed more, IMO. Sullivan is portrayed as the spare, who got elevated to heir rather suddenly. The book delves into their past relationships, and how that informs their wedded life at times. The author throws in subplots to make it interesting, but they left me feeling frustrated, since their was no good resolution, nor a good cliff hanger that would make me pickup the next book in the series.
Read it if you want to dive into a sex book and you know you won’t care for the unresolved threads, otherwise pass.

This series is always filled with amusing incidents. Matilda (Freckles) is happy to carry out her duties as one of the Ladies of Virtue. She is mission focused and blind to her beauty. Sullivan is her nemesis who is always available to remind her that there is more to her. They both use disdain and barbs to hide their true feelings. This continues to be a witty series with wonderful and exciting characters.

This was a new one for me & I can’t even tell you how excited I was!! I really enjoyed this steamy historical romance! It’s apart of a series(which I didn’t know & will be going back to read the others) with a group of young ladies trying to do good & help these roguish men! Lady Tilly is our heroine who believes she will be a spinster but is ok with that. She’s a younger sister & Tilly is tall with lots of freckles. Sullivan is our second son military hero...he wasn’t supposed to be a Viscount but that’s what happens when his oldest brother is killed while he’s away. Tilly & Sullivan don’t get along and always have witty things to say to one another! Sullivan has always been attracted to Tilly but was hurt when she claimed feelings for his younger brother that married her older sister. There were a lot of ups and downs with these two feelings and how they would overcome them but they got to their HEA! These two had some serious chemistry & steam! I loved every page of it!! There’s also some suspense which I’m sad to say didn’t get resolved....will we find out!? Hmmmm....I would have loved to known. But all in all the book was a great, steamy, & quick read!! I really enjoyed it! I hope there’s more! And will be going back for the others in the series!

Eeee this book was so good!! It had all my favourite tropes in romance! Enemies to lovers, only one bed and marriage of convenience. This book had me hooked! I’ve been loving historical romances and this one was a really good read! The cover is beautiful!

This is a 4th book in a series, however I did not read any prior to this one and this one read like a stand alone.

Sexy, cute and full of everything I love in a historical romance! Highly recommend!

Thanks to Netgalley and

*****This book was read thanks NetGalley, they didn't influence me at all *********

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED IT.

I am a huge romance fan and this book gave me all the feels, Tilly is a likable character and so easy to connect with, she is beautiful but due the time she lives and the beauty of the time, she grew up listening that she wasn't as pretty as her sister, and to break her heart more, the man she was in love with married her sister, Sullivan has a thing for her, Sullivan is her brother in-law, they went separate ways, she hears from him once that his brother die, so he returns to claim his inheritance.

Things happen and he seems himself forced to marry her to protect her reputation.

I love the part of them ignoring their love for each other, the sexual tension, THE ANGST!!!!!

Highly recommended for those who enjoy romance.

This book could have easily been a 5 star review and recommendation to read. The heroine is 23 years old and a future spinster. She has an unusual beauty, but since she is tall, this limits the men she would want. The hero is returned from fighting in I die to claim his inheritance. The hero and heroine have known each other for about 5 years, and she doesn't like him or his nickname for her. He has always been attracted to her, but I owe that she doesn't like his confident ways and sayings. She thinks he is arrogant, but he just doesn't care what other people think. The heroine is part of a group of women who try to remove petty thieves, like children pick-pockets from the streets. The hero and heroine meet up in a storm where her carriage broke down and she agrees to go with him and of course, there is only one room at the inn. They are seen and a hasty marriage is the result.
This book was so well written, the characters defined and grew as the story flowed along. The supporting characters made sense and added to the story and the settings were accurate and detailed enough that the reader could envision themselves in the story. The book is part of a series, but you do not have to read the others or rely on them to carry this story.
My one concern is the use of the phrase "per se". This phrase is over used and always used inappropriately. It does not go at the end of a sentence or thought. The meaning is 'in itself' or 'in and of itself'. It was used wrong in this book 3 times. And all 3 times, the word 'but' could have been used and then it would have made sense. I am removing 1 star for each inaccurate use. I blame the proof reader, the alpha readers and the arc readers for not pointing this out. I would never let any author I proof or alpha reader for to make errors like this. I always point out the grammatical errors. I give this book 2 stars.

This book is amazing.
I love the tropes that were included in this story: only one bed, enemies to lovers, and marriage of convenience.
I was shocked and so sad when one of the characters from the prologue died. That character was already one of my favorites.
I wish that the story had resolved the case on who killed the character and cause all the other problems throughout the story. But at the same time not knowing didn't bother me as much as I thought it would due to the main character finding clues and me placing the piece together and also the story between Matilda and Roderick overcoming their hate for one another than having to spend lots of time together made the story so captivating for me.
There were some times when I wanted to come after Roderick for trying to block Matilda from doing her work but I understood it was a part of the process of the story and how he cared and fell in love.

Rating:5/5

Dislike to marriage.

Matilda "Tilly" doesn't like Sullivan. He teases her and has his own set of problems.
Its a mashup of tropes, enemies to lovers, one bed, forced to offer for her.
What worked? I liked Sullivan (perhaps not his teasing, that felt like elementary school with hair pulling).
What didn't? It got repetitive with Tilly's lack of self confidence and her going on and on about her looks.

Recommend.

This story had a great plot, had wonderful chemistry, and the main characters were enjoyable. I liked how independent and fearless the heroine was, and i thought the hero was perfect with his desire for control and protective behavior. It's also a relief when they finally actually TALK and understand where they stand. #netgalley #thevirginandtheviscount

The Virgin and the Viscount is the fourth book in the Lords of Vice series by Robyn DeHart. It is a swoon-worthy historical romance that sweeps you off your feet and takes you away to another place, another time. The Virgin and the Viscount is an entertaining and sexy enemies-to-lovers romance. It is a great book for readers who like opposites-attract love story with great characters and a bit of mystery.

Each book in this series makes me love Ms. DeHart’s work more and more. I love enemies to lovers romances, and this one is a real gem. It’s sexy with an ending that is humorous and very cute. The author did leave some things dangling, though. I can’t wait to read the next installment to learn more about the former viscount’s death.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
