Lizzie Oulette, the outcast in her small, rural Maine town is found dead in her cottage by the lake. It's a gruesome scene and her husband Dwayne is now nowhere to be found. Ethan and Adrienne Richards, a wealthy couple from Boston were frequent renters of the cottage and Adrienne is rumored to be Dwayne's lover. Ian Bird, the state detective, is on the case with what appears to be an open and shut case according to other police officers. But Ian feels something is off with this case and he's not convinced there's an easy explanation.

While this one started slow for me, there's a major plot twist that quickly grabbed my attention and kept me intrigued. That being said, I also feel like the reader is required to completely suspend reality with this plot. So much of it is completely implausible. But I was able to forget that and just let myself be entertained.

Overall, if you're a fan of thrillers, I'd recommend this one.

Woah - this book was not what I expected! It was a super engrossing read - I've been distracted lately but this book drew me in immediately and kept me hooked. The pacing was excellent and the storyline was interesting - despite the number of thrillers I've read lately, nothing has really touched on the same themes as this book so I really appreciated that it was pretty unique. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more books from this author. Thanks to the published and NetGalley for the ARC!

As a homicide investigator pulls into a rural Maine town to discover that Lizzie in the town is dead and her husband is nowhere to be found. Adrienne who is a social media influencer has been renting Lizzies place in the country. There is a connection between her and Lizzie.

This was an interesting story. It did not pull me in completely but I did enjoy reading it. Good writing.

This book took me by complete surprise. I never saw the twist coming. Kat Rosenfield did an amazing job of leading you on one journey, then hitting you straight in the face with a twist like no other.

Lizzie Oullette is hated by most in her small town of Copper Falls, she married the town baseball star out of circumstance not love, which led the town to believe she ruined his future. Lizzie and Dwayne don't have a perfect marriage, barely speaking and living mostly separate lives. They have never discussed their hurt or their pain, divorce has never been discussed. Dwayne has secrets, as does Lizzie, but what happens when their secrets collide?

Adrienne Richards lives a fantasy life, married to Ethan Richards, a wealthy business man. She has the desired social media life, many think they want. Adrienne and Ethan rent a house from Lizzie in Copper Falls, after several years of renting, she develops a "friendship" with Lizzie. Does Lizzie truly know Adrienne? Adrienne has her own secrets.

I found this book to be a total surprise. I was not expecting to be sucked in immediately (even though the first couple of chapters are graphic and disturbing). Just when I thought I had it all figured out, part two begins and I was dumbfounded. The author takes a complete left turn and I couldn't read fast enough.

I highly recommend this book if you like suspense or thrillers. It is just creepy enough to fulfill the spooky season itch, but won't keep you up at night.

Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“They all thought I had it coming. They all thought I was better off dead. And the truth, the one I realized in that last, horrible moment before the gun went off, is just this: They were right.”

Compulsively readable. Utterly shocking. This is a thriller that lives up to the its genre title. It’s smartly written, cleverly executed, and left me with that gasp worthy thrill that I crave from this genre.

After you read a lot of thrillers, it’s easy to become desensitized. Not many create that deep sense of shock. But that can’t be said when the main character is narrating from beyond the grave.

People in town didn’t know Lizzie Oulette. Not really. But then again, they didn’t need to. Her role was assigned to her before she was even born. Her dad was an outsider to the town, and he ran the junkyard. That made her both an outsider and a junkyard girl. Everyone loathed her from a distance without ever stopping to ask why. So when her cabin is covered in blood and guts, no one seems to mind. She was never one of them anyway.

Rosenfield created Copper Falls with vivid depictions. The atmosphere of the town added depth to the mystery and personified the hatred felt for Lizzie. But those characters. Unlikable yet completely fascinating. Getting into the psyche of those characters is what kept me turning page after page.

Lizzie’s story is a commentary on how harshly society judges, many times without having a solid foundation for that judgment.

Thank you Kat Rosenfield, Harper Muse Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of this book.

Rating 4.5. Quick read psychological thriller with interesting twists and turns. I was not expecting the major curveball in the story and this made it all the more intriguing. Good development of the main character’s (Lizzie) story. There were a few gaps in the murder investigation such as why there was no further confirmation as to the identity of the murdered woman - dental records, DNA. Would the police really just rely on verbal comments as to the assumed identity?

This was a good and creepy thriller.
Unlike other thrillers that I have read, the major plot twist comes in the middle of book (rather than the end).

Here's what we know:
A small town girl has been murdered.
Nobody really liked the girl from the small town who was murdered.
The small town girl's husband is missing.
Did he kill her?
Does it have to do with the rich couple who rented out the small town girl's lake house that summer?
The detectives are on the scene and trying to find out.

Told in multiple viewpoints and jumps from past to present.
This was a slow burn mystery.
It had a really good story and a REALLY surprising plot twist.
Just when I thought I had an idea of what was happening this book knocked me for a loop.
After the major plot twist it was a little slow for me.
It was still very interesting in that it kept me intrigued to see how it would all play out.
The author leaves the ending on a note that can feel a sense unfinished to some readers... but some people may like that.... Open to your imagination on what happens after.

Read this book if you like:
1) Past and present tense
2) Multiple points of view
3) Slow burn mystery
4) Plot twist!
5) Conclusion left (sort of) up in the air

What a well written book! I found myself unable to stop reading this. I was pulled in right from the start of it. I read it in about a day. There were some great twists that I didn't see coming. It was a unique read and I I look forward to future books from Kat Rosenfield.

Stina and Jack move to the country.. to the perfect cottage.. as they settle in things get weird.. I love a good thriller & Whisper Cottage was pretty creepy.. in a good way.. The couple are so happy for a slower paced town and a fresh start and their neighbor Mrs Bailey, seems like a godsend. Their cottage needs a lot of work and they are short in funds and time. As they get to know the town and their neighbor, things get very weird. There are so many twists and turns. What do the villagers know that they don’t know? Will this be a safe place to raise their baby?
While Jack works, as a Vet, Stina is working at home and starting to hear and see things.. Is her imagination getting the better of her? What’s going on with her? So many twists and turns to the very end. I can honestly say I didn’t know how it would end.. I think this is a very good book with an interesting storyline. It was a quick read and I really enjoyed it..

I really liked this one! It was a great small town twisted mystery that I could not put down. Specifically, I enjoyed the POV from a character after she was dead retelling what lead up to her own murder. I thought it was clever and well done. This one got very dark at certain points, but I thought that really differentiated this thriller/mystery from others. I would highly recommend this book!

No One Will Miss Her definitely threw me for a loop. I did not see that twist coming, though in hindsight I probably should have. I am giving this one three and a half stars out of five! I thought the writing overall was done really well. I was not totally sold on the story until about 40 percent into it but am definitely glad I did not DNF it. When the twist hit in part two, I was hooked and really didn’t want to put it down for anything! There were a few parts that I felt were not needed in the story, though I could see why they were included, they didn’t add any oomph to me. Overall, a good read and I will be looking for more from this author soon!

Thank you to Netgalley, Scene of the Crime reads, and William Morrow for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion!

Absolutely amazing. I am mindblown!!!!! I give this one 5 stars, no doubt about it!

Short and sweet synopsis: A homicide investigator is called to Copper Falls to find Lizzie Ouellette brutally murdered, and her husband Dwayne nowhere to be found. It quickly becomes evident that Adrienne Richards, the beautiful, rich, blonde woman currently living with her husband in the Ouellette lake house, seems to know more than she is letting on... And THIS, my friends, is all I can say without spoiling the twists and turns that is this book.

You are in for a WILD ride if you read this one- in the best way possible! I am not even sure how many times I had to stop and collect/rearrange my thoughts, because of unforeseen twists! One of my favorite books I have read this year.

Thank you SO much to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was not completely engrossed with this book as I listened. I enjoyed the story, and appreciated the plot. I do think the book was a little too long for the story told. There are pieces I didn’t think were absolutely necessary and others I think could have been developed better.

This is not a bad book in one of my favorite genres, but it just didn’t grab me like other books.

No One Will Miss Her by Kat Rosenfeld, was a dark read for me and one that I had a hard time connecting too. Although this is one of my all time favorite genres for some reason I just did not connect to this book in the way that I normally do. It was a well written book, maybe it was the concept of Lizzie telling her story from the grave that I never connected with. Or it could be none of the characters in the book seemed to have any redeeming qualities. Even though it wasn't the book for me I would suggest that others read and make their own decisions because everyone looks for different things in a book.

I received a ARC from NetGalley and William Morrow, and this is my fair and honest review.

No One Will Miss Her by Kat Rosenfield is an interesting tale, told from the grave. There are four people: Lizzie Oullette, her husband Dwayne, and their temporary tenants, Ethan and Adrienne, who rented a summer cottage from them. Ethan and Adrienne had come up to spend a week in October, ostensibly to see the leaves turning. That is when everything happened. By that point, Lizzie had told the story of her life, unhappy as it had been. The other three really were incidental.

This was a strange book. I couldn't give it up although I didn't tally love it. It was like looking away from an accident. I had to see it through. Lizzie was a complicated character who had not led an easy life. Rosenfield did a fabulous job drawing this character and making her sympathetic despite her erratic behavior. People ended up dead, yet it is not really a murder mystery; the police were called it, yet it is not really a police procedural. The genre is hard to define, thriller, perhaps, although that doesn't seem right, either. The cleverness involved left the reader waiting for everything to unravel for at least half the book. Interesting.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of No One Will Miss Her by Harper Collins, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #harpercollins #noonewillmissher #katrosenfield

I'm going to be super honest, when I went into this book, I wasn't looking forward to it. You know how sometimes you need to be in the mood for a book? I wasn't.

Nonetheless, it didn't take me long to sink into this book.

This is a book about classes, and how if you belong to one class, you're automatically going to be treated differently than a different class. This is a book about two women - one who is the trash of town, the other who can have anything she wants.

Yet neither of them has exactly what they wants. Neither one of them is happen.

The question is, how did Lizzie Oullette wind up dead in her cabin? How is Adrienne really involved, and what do the men in their lives have to do with the dead body?

Even though I didn't want to read this book, I couldn't help but fall into it, the same way that Detective Ian Bird had to know exactly what happened to Lizzie.

And the twist? The got me hook, line, and sinker.

Don't let this book fool you. It is so much more than you think it is. And I thoroughly enjoy it.

Book review: No One Will Miss Her by Kat Rosenfield

No One Will Miss Her is an adult contemporary mystery thriller about a woman found dead and mutilated in an isolated cabin and her husband and the wealthy Boston couple involved in her death.

Lizzie Oullette was a small town girl and the daughter of the local junkyard owner. The locals have distrusted her family since her father arrived decades before and Lizzie married the local golden boy and cut short his pro-baseball dreams. For extra money she rents out her lakeside cabin to wealthy city people like disgraced billionaires Adrienne and Ethan Richards. Once in the orbit of these spoiled people of privilege Lizzie’s life will be permanently altered.
Ian Bird is the detective in charge of untangling Lizzie’s and Adrienne’s complicated relationship and figuring the how and why of Lizzie’s death and where her husband went.

This is a dark and twisted tale of small towns, privilege and what happens when a girl’s dreams are cut short. I loved the “not everything is what it seems” aspect and Detective Bird’s contribution to the overall plot. I recommend this one to reader’s that enjoy both gritty suspense thrillers and detective novels.

4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I want to keep it brief to avoid spoilers. It’s easy to guess what the twist will be, with all the little clues carefully plotted in the first half. But then there’s part two and the fascinating repercussions of the events in part one. The ending is incredibly satisfying.

Well, No One Will Miss Her was a WILD ride. Spoilers ahead so read at your own risk!

At first, I was super intrigued. I loved the first part of this book. What didn't work for me was the second half.

Lizzie was an interesting main character with a tragic past. She's grown up as the "trash" of her small town. Seemingly never escaping her label, Lizze is an outsider in her own community. *Note, there's a trigger for animal abuse here early on that was hard for me to handle.*

Lizzie befriends the rich debutante, Adrienne, who is renting their lake house with her husband, Ethan. This is when things go wrong for Lizzie. She's tragically killed by her husband, Dwayne. Except this isn't the true story. In part 2, we find out this was all a lie and she somehow magically became Adrienne's twin and it was really Adrienne we found dead in part 1. I couldn't process this twist. It was just TOO unbelievable for me. You're telling me all we are going to use to identify someone's body is a mole on their chest?? And NOBODY recognizes that Lizzie is pretending to be Adrienne?? Too many plot holes for me.

This was really entertaining, but just lost effect with me in its execution. I'm in the minority and everyone else seems to love this one, but it just wasn't my fave. I'd still give this a 3 star review and want to see more from this author.

From my blog: Always With a Book:

When you read as many thrillers as I do, finding that one that stands out is gold and that is exactly what this debut novel is here. There have been a slew of debuts out lately that I have loved, but this one really takes the cake for just how original it is.

Right from the start, I was pulled into this one and that feeling never let up. I totally binge-read this one and loved every second of it. The writing is so sharp and witty and I loved that some of it is talking directly to the reader – I find those inside conversations to be so insightful. But this time, it really puts you on edge because you just aren’t quite sure what to expect.

The story alternates between three points of view and the characters are so dynamic. Added to that is the pacing, which really is on point and you have quite an engaging read that just begs you to keep flipping those pages. The twists are shocking and I for one definitely did not see them coming! There is nothing here for the sake of a thrill, all is perfectly plotted and it all comes together quite brilliantly.

I’m really keeping this quite vague as I think you need to go into this one as blind as possible. It definitely is such a great read and I know I will for sure be keeping an eye out for what comes next from this very talented author!
