This book starts off fairly strong but loses you fairly quickly. The book is a bit disjointed and lacks a good backstory. I feel due to the lack of backstory the characters fall short and are less believable. This is an insta-luv story that walks the edge of unbelievable. Although some authors can pull
It off this book doesn't quite manage it. So it mostly devolves into book that revolves around the sexy bits. Which is ok if your looking for a paranormal romance without the epic hero. Overall not a bad read but with some work could definitely be better.

Soren Westerberg is a Titanian, descended from the Greek Titans. He's an enforcer tasked with protecting the world from daemons, demons and other supernatural bad guys. HIs lifetime scroll never indicated he'd find his eternal mate, so he planned a life dedicated to protecting others.

Maya Simurgh Brown lost her parents young and was raised by her godmother, Anna, who appeared after their deaths. All grown up, she's a storyboard artist, raised on her guardian's tales of magic but never believing there was any truth to them.

Titanian's Phoenix starts off with a bang as Maya and her godmother are kidnapped, she must face the fact that all of her stories were real and that she's being hunted.

Her escape leads her into the arms of her Titanian fated mate but while she's wildly attracted to him, she's not sure about accepting it all.

In between trying to convince Maya to accept him as her mate, he and the other Titanians are fighting off attacks, training, rescuing the kidnapped and trying to stop a group bent on murdering supernaturals.

The story pulled me at the beginning but started to become disjointed the farther along the story went. Saccenti tends to tell the reader what's going on rather than showing and many scenes are were just a bit too convenient to believe.

It's an interesting beginning to a new world with interesting characters.

This was a lot of fun reading this book, it worked as a scifi novel and had interesting characters. I enjoyed the way the author writes and look forward to more from the author.

Rather interesting, with sexy paranormal beings, it is amazing what a man would do to gain power, start a war if he can, of course. Here love light shines bright above all the killings, hatred, and distrust. Very entertaining, exciting with a uniquely delicious flavor.

I found this storyline very difficult to follow as clearly it was one of a series. There a prequel called ‘Beloved Titanian’ which really needs reading first to explain the premise.
Then there was the whole castle in the US, the time travelling Scots warriors, the premise of a Phoenix and and..
I got baffled and gave up about a quarter of a way through.
I just wish the author had given us more of the back story rather than leaving it half-told and mysterious.

The cover is misleading. Do not go into this expecting an engaging plot or any kind of badassery.

This is a run of the mill, typical churned out paranormal romance with sex. You feel like you're dropped into the middle of a series, and you can see all the other books that will be born like baby bunnies as the author preps upcoming couples.

It's all tell, lots of infodumps. It has instalove, like fully instant love because they are destined mates and so they have no choice in the matter. I understand the purpose of instalove. Books that feature this are just getting it out of the way because they need to have a reason for the MCs to bang. This instalove was sort of another level though, it's not like insta-attraction or instalust, it's instaLURVE. Like oh my darling sweet treasure deepest love of my whole soul who I have known for 3 days kind of instalove. This is the kind of book people skim to get to the sexy bits, of which there are several scenes, so if that's your MO, giver, but if you're looking for a book to actually read and get into, move along.

It was a great book but the author didn't put much time in developing the plot. It was all sex. If it had half as much plot and detail as the sex scenes it would be a great book. I liked the characters but I don't think enough was said about each one. It was plot wise a g rated book.

Lovely romance with tons of heat between the characters and plenty of depth and interest to back that up!

I wanted to love this, but unfortunately there’s a lack of world building and real character development, so for me I just couldn’t connect with the characters or story at all. The writing itself seemed promising, so hopefully in future I may revisit the authors work and enjoy future stories, but this one wasn’t for me.

This book was not that good. It was all I could do to even finish the thing. At around 60% I was really considering just dropping it, but I forced myself to continue. Just with a lot of skimming... Not a single character appealed to me, there were an incredible number of characters introduced, information is dumped on you every time something new happens, and let's not forget the fact that the bad guys are dumb enough to have a secret meeting in a bar where they just so happen to be overheard by the good guys who are right above them. I mean, come on. What I hated most was the relationship between Soren and Maya though. It reminded me WAY too much of this series which I had to work so hard to get thru just two books. I get the whole "fated mates" thing. But damn it, people should not be professing their undying love and eternal devotion to somebody that they have known for less than 3 days!! Maya even comes back and says that it hurt so much to think about leaving Soren and that she couldn't imagine life without him. Dude. You don't even know the guy! So, of course, this insta-love royally pissed me off. And just like that other series, these two can't think of anything else except sexing up the other. There's a war going on people! The way these two spoke to each other was as awkward as their bedroom scenes. If you want us to believe them a real couple, they shouldn't be speaking to each other so politely and stiffly. Wholly unbelievable relationship. Also, Maya in particular really ticked me off. The girl never used her head, and instead often acted like a petulant child. She makes demands of others while not knowing how that world works, or a care for how things should be done. She was unbelievably immature too often.

I suppose the story itself could have been good. It has all sorts of paranormal creatures, cool magic, and unique skills the characters can have. Some cooler than others. For example, the Titanians can shoot lightning out their hands (fingers? I don't know, it wasn't really explained) which only makes me laugh at the ridiculous picture that gets painted in my head at that. But then you get witches that can delve into memories so real just by touching something. The overall story wasn't anything new. The bad guys are trying to figure out ways to destroy the good guys while the good guys try to stay ahead of the bad guys. Sure it had interesting things here and there, but absolutely nothing pulled me into the story or ever made me want to keep reading.

Needless to say, I'm not going to be reading anymore of this series.

I just finished this and I was a good read. The beginning sorta confused me but as I read on, it got better. I like the relationship between Soren and Maya and I love how he just loved her and accepted her immediately. I think Talaith is my favorite in this book. I just love how calm she was. I wish the friendship that was developing between Ginnny and Maya was explored more though.
Overall, a good read!

Altough I didn't read the previous novels, the story is easy to follow, contains a lot of romance, suspence and magic. It's a great book for passing time since you don't sense it at all.

Titanian's Phoenix (Titanian Chronicles) by Victoria Saccenti
Rating: 2-stars
Summary:
Maya is living her life in NYC until one day she is kidnapped by an elf, discovers magic is a thing, and then meets her soulmate, Soren, a Titanian. Someone(s) is trying to stir up trouble between all the magical creatures as several are being found dead and then Soren’s mother is kidnapped. Maya and Soren go to rescue his mother and upon the rescue being done, the book ends.
Overall opinion:
This book had a lot of promise and if I were rating it by the ideas/overall plot, this would easily be a 4-star read. But… and this is a big but, this story was SO hard for me to follow at times. Maya is just living her life, totally unaware of magic being a thing until she goes home one night and an elf drugs and kidnaps her. Turns out her real parents were not the people she lived with in Oklahoma (who were also strangely murdered), but magical being from an ancient Persian line. Her godmother, Anna, turns out to be a witch who has been trying to hint to Maya that magic is real, and she has powers of her own.
Maya is thrust into this world and there is not a lot of explanation about the different creatures, why she is Soren’s eternal mate, or what is happening. There are a LOT of characters and while its not too hard to follow who is who, people are constantly coming and going, which is hard to follow. Also, there is Maya and Soren’s relationship. They meet, they want to get it on, and then they do. There are some pages talking about how she is not sure she wants this or understands what happens, but then she just goes with it. I have not read many fated mates stories, but this felt like there needed to be a lot more explanation or dialogue to first build a relationship between the two and also to see Maya move from attracted but wary to all in. here needed to be more character development and explaining what the heck was going on.
Another big issue for me was trying to follow time. Supposedly it has only been a day or two since they met, but then suddenly it has been weeks, but nothing happened during that time? There is training that is vital for Maya and that seems to be a big deal early on, but she does not do a lot of it and is magically a badass in a fight?
I thought the plot held a lot of promise, but there are just too many gaps in time, character development and plot details for me to rate this highly. I would love to read an edited version where additional details are added to support the character development, especially the relationship between Maya and Soren.

The first book I've read by Ms. Saccenti and hopefully not the last. A truly unique plot that is full of thrills and some added romance. The story captured my attention from the start and I couldn't wait to finish the book.

An epic fantasy to end all epic fantasies! Characters were very engaging and the thought was very driven.

This story grabbed and kept the attention. There was depth to the world building and each of the people in the story. The main characters were well drawn out as is the emotions that they go through as they meet each other and discover that they are mates. Which is quite the kick for Maya because Soren is out of this world supernatural and she hasn't believed that someone like him is even possible. She definitely is tossed in on the deep end of that world.
Each one of the different creatures are well fleshed out as is the dangers that they all face.
When I say that this story is a wild ride I mean it. The action is off the charts as is the romance that leads to more than one hot sex scene.
Enemies are overcome for now with some of the danger still out there. Soren and Maya find their H.E.A. in each other . They also know though that there will be more battles ahead in their future.

By the way, the gorgeous eBook cover is what first caught my eye.

DNF at 25%

Sorry, this book just wasn’t for me. The first quarter of the book relied on a lot of choppy dialogue to insert world building, and combined that with newly fated mates Insta-lust scenes so it was hard to follow along the various mythologies the author had pulled into the story.

It was an intriguing idea for a story so I gave it a couple of tries but couldn’t get passed the feeling of being info dumped on before the character development had progressed to a point where I cared about the characters.

The author showed some promise in their writing - I loved the scenes where characters were in their own heads thinking. It was when dialogue was introduced that it went downhill for me.

Sadly, I have many issues with this book. I had to force myself to finish it, it was hard to push through after reading the first 25%.

Honestly, at first, I felt like I made a mistake and downloaded a mid-series book. The prologue and first chapters are not confusing, but after that, you're just thrown into this new world with no real building, where Elves, Demons, Weres, and Fae are seemingly at peace, but it’s made obvious that some of them are plotting to kill the others. There are also a few Phoenix descendants who are super rare and are destined to be mates to the Titanian warriors. A lot of information and backstory were conveniently dropped in the dialogues, but for me, it just felt weird. The information was obviously there only for us readers. I mean, the “big bad guys” had a secret meeting in a bar full of supernatural creatures, got angry, and talked loud enough for the Titanian warriors (who were a few tables away) to hear all about their plan to create a poison that slowly kills supernatural creatures. As simple as that, now the Titanians know the evil plan without having to give any effort to find out the information.

The characters are mostly bland (and there is not a lot of character development) and seem to be lacking personal goals and ambition. Maya has been raised by her Godmother Anna after her parents died in a mysterious accident. Maya heard the stories of magic that her Godmother would tell her when she was younger, but Maya always thought that these stories were just stories. She has a steady job, and lives a normal life until she is abducted by an Elf and finds out that Anna's stories are real.

The ideas in this book are good, but I couldn’t stand how Maya just instantly went along with everything she was told. Anna tells her that they are being held by an Elf, that Maya has to flee without her (but it’s okay because Anna also explained to her that she had magic to defend herself against the elf), and Maya just got up and left. Later she learns that there are many other species, and she is fine with it. It’s written that she is shocked and that she is struggling with the idea of supernatural and magic, but I didn’t feel her shock and struggles at all while reading the book.

The big letdown for me, besides Maya’s annoying gullibility, is the insta-lust/insta-love between her and her mate Soren. I didn’t see any character development. They met, Maya learns that she is his eternal soulmate, and they are suddenly inseparable. Their dialogues also felt choppy and were so cheesy at times. I knew there would be romance in this book, but I expected more fighting, more scheming, and more twists. Instead, there was an abundance of sex scenes and a hasty development of the plot.
