In a word? Beautiful.

This is coffee table books at their best - beautiful words with beautiful images all out together in a book that I would be proud to show off in my home.

The quotes were inspiring and so beautifully presented I wanted to print them out and frame them. I particularly loved the sheer variety of people who’s words filled the pages. As a result of this book I’ve been introduced to more activists and figures who I can learn about.

I’ve already bought more copies to give as gifts this Christmas - a beautiful and inspiring book.

Cute but a bit too much of a coffee table book for my preferences. I did like it though. I wish there was more substance to it

This is a very aesthetically pleasing book with quotes from a diverse selection of queer activists, authors, and artists along with photographs of most of them. I appreciated the forward from the author as well as the little biographies at the back. I think this would be a nice gift for someone who likes coffee table books and/or infographics (I mean that as nicely as possible).

I will say that overall I did like this collection, but there did come a point where my enjoyment had waned. Many of the quotes used in the collection were really fantastic and identity affirming--they really provided that sense of community knowing that others have felt things you have felt, but at a certain point the quotes became a bit repetitive hitting on the same emotions and feelings. As a few other reviewers have said I think this would work great as a coffee table book, or even as an inspirational quote of the day exercise, for example throughout high school I had an English teacher who would post a quote of the day on the whiteboard and had us journal and write a reflection about any feelings the quote inspired in us, how we connected with it, and what we took away from it.

Queer (Words of Change Series): Powerful Voices, Inspiring Ideas by Coco Romack

TAGS: non-fiction, lgbtq

A collection of inspiring quotes & passages from powerful queer voices throughout history. This is the first book I have read by the author and the first book I have read in the series. I am now very interested in reading the other collections in the series -- antiracism, climate & immigration -- all written by different authors. I think it's always important to amplify minority voices. Queer voices and, elder queer voices especially, have been silenced throughout history. I would recommend this to anyone interested in lgbtq rights/history. This could be a good table top book & conversation starter.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy.

This is a lovely book filled with quotes and pictures of many queer activists from across the years. I enjoyed reading it and seeing what these different people have said. It’s a good book to have around!

What a fabulous collection of quotes from past and present LGBTQIAP+ icons! If I had the money, I'd buy a copy for every student who participates in my "Rainbow Room" class, where all of the examples I use are by queer and/or trans writers. The collection of people showcased in QUEER (Words of Change series) covers so many identities, genders, sexualities, races, and classes. Even though I can't purchase copies for all my students, I will be telling them about it!

Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this quote collection. There was a wide variety of voices quoted, ranging from 1960s activists to today, along with pictures of most of them and short bios at the end. I think this could be a good gift for someone who has come out recently and could use radical words of encouragement and inspiration, but I also think this could be something nice to keep on your shelf if you're in need of a boost from some of the most powerful voices of the past century. It was very well-designed and featured both classic quotes and some I hadn't seen before, which I appreciated.

This is a book of quotes. I missed that memo somehow when I initially requested an ARC of it. The quotes are beautiful and moving and there are some beautiful photographs of transgender and queer folks throughout. I just was expecting a text titled "words of change" to go deeper into the implementation of change. But, it does make for a nice coffee table book with a diverse offering of queer perspectives and insights. If that is what you are looking for, this book is gold.

The quotes would be very useful in the classroom when covering topics to provide authentic voices and discussion starters.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
This was a great book of quotes that provides a variety of perspectives on people's experiences of fighting for their rights.
It did not look good on my kindle though - the quotes were sometimes big/sometimes small and the photos were missing or cut over two/three kindle pages.
I would have liked if the little biographies of each person were next to the quote.

This would probably make a nice coffee table book/classroom book.

I loved this collection of queer-related quotes. I also loved that there were biographies of everyone in the end. This series of books is so good. I really enjoyed reading the introduction with the author's personal experiences as well.

Loved this! It's both inspiring and thought provoking and the type of book you'll return to time and time again. I haven't seen any of the others in the series, but am now keen to. LOVED IT.

I am truly beginning to love this series. The collection is breathtaking between the inspiring quotes and the powerful portraits. I do wish there was some more information regarding when or where the quotes were said to gain a little bit more historical context. I also would have enjoyed some more portraits, but this book is so stunning! Would highly recommend

Queer (Words of Change series) compiled by Coco Romack is a beautiful, stunning and empowering collection of Quotes. I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this book. It's uplifting, emotional, real, and diverse in the sense that it contains quotes from many different people with different backgrounds, different lifestyles all coming together to present the words to inspire conversations and action.

This reads like a beautiful Instagram profile for the LGBTQIA+ community, which I love and I believe many others will too. Coco Romack has managed to put together a very relevant stirring and aesthetic collection that is a must read for everyone; members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies and people with limited awareness about the struggle and pain that can come from being anything other than cis gendered but also how much beauty can come when you celebrate you as you really are.

This is the perfect gift or splurge for yourself. Would make an excellent coffee table book and whenever you're feeling ignored or face injustice you should reach for this book, I can say without a doubt that it will help!

all in all 5 stars, very very highly recommended.

Thank you to netgalley, Coco Romack, and publishers for gifting me with an e-copy in exchange for my honest review. I am very blessed to have read this when I did, as I really needed it right now. As soon as it hits shelves I'll be buying my own copy. Don't miss out!

What a great collection of quotes! I was impressed by how radical these quotes were and the diversity of people they came from--not just celebrities, but also authors, artists, and activists. And I saw my professor quoted which was pretty cool! This book is also incredibly aesthetically pleasing--the art is simple and elegant and highlights the words on the page. I loved it and will probably buy a physical copy to have as a coffee table book! This would make a great gift for any LGBTQ graduates, a coming-out or transition party, or a "just because" gift.

Honestly, there isn't much to say other than the fact that I'm really loving this series. It talks of the issues that are closest to me and it provides a variety of quotes from a diverse group of people. (However, I read this on my kindle app, and the formatting was awful. I don't know if that was just my phone or if that's how its been sent to everyone but it was difficult to read at times.)
