Once again, we visit the world of the Guardians of Eternity series with Darkness Betrayed where we find out more about Brigette and Xi as they work together (ha!) to redeem her and save the world from an evil no one wants to face. This is the 17th book in the series and a good addition to it. Ivy is one of my go to authors. Recommend this book.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity to review this book for an honest opinion.

This book continues the story line of the Guardians of Eternity. This time we see Brigitte get some redemption and self love. She has help along the way. It is good to see that deep in her heart, she knows what is right.

Xi is one of the Ravens guarding the Anasso-King of Vamps. He and Brigitte team up. I was not really feeling their connection. Nothing like the other mates seem to experience. Maybe because Brigitte's walls are up so high. Just didn't seem like e match to me.

Great action packed story! Of course we see Levet bumble into the fray once again. Lots of previous characters pop up here as well.

Loved it.

This is the latest book in the Author's long running Guardians of Eternity series and whilst it can be read as a standalone some knowledge of the world building and characters would be of benefit to the reader

She-wolf Brigette had previously been a conduit for evil to enter the world but once the plot was quelled she escaped custody and has found a small , quiet slice of life to try to rebuild what she can of her life .
When the opportunity for redemption and to become a hero instead of a villain appears on her doorstep she takes the risk and agrees assist against this new threat to the world .
Vampire Xi has lived a long time and is reluctant to believe that his new partner is reformed But the more time he spends with her as they investigate the new threat the more he falls under her spell . The attraction is mutual but when a sacrifice must be made to stop their enemy will they make it , can they survive or will all be lost ?

This is another entertaining story in this series which has introduced new characters that looks to lead to another book in the future
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I just love this series…. The ending even produced a few tears. The covers are great and blurbs really suck you in.

What did I like? This book has a huge plot surrounding Styx who is the current king. Steps to harm him and his people as the situation is revealed by Brigette. Xi, one of Styx’s Ravens is assigned to help Brigette foil the plot. There attraction to one another is evident and gives the book a steamy vibe. This book really sucks you in from page one and does not let go.

Would I recommend or buy? I really enjoyed this series and really recommend it to anyone loving a paranormal series. Levet is here and it’s such a huge cast. There’s always someone coming and going, and sneak peeks on previous characters! Five stars for me! Loved it.

Darkness Betrayed (Guardians of Eternity #17). By Alexandra Ivy. 2021. Kensington Books (ARC eBook).

While I have not read every book in the series, for me, several of the earlier books that I’ve read felt more like romances and I liked them more than the last couple in the series that I’ve read, including Darkness Betrayed. But there is a redemption story line for both hero and heroine that readers can root for. I actually don’t care for having a lot of Levet in these stories and as for some of the other secondary characters, Troy and Inga, I respect that they are a part of another unfolding story, but I don’t care for them. I can appreciate the world building and I will look forward to stories featuring characters I find more interesting. So I’ll continue following the series but probably cherry pick them more.

The enemy becomes the savior in this new installment of the intriguing and long-running Guardian of Eternity Series by Alexandra Ivy. Ivy’s series has taken her characters through several almost-apocalypses, near demonic world dominations, and so many interesting matings with laughter, tears, and drama and I’ve loved going along for the ride as a reader. Brigette was introduced several stories ago as a conduit for a dangerous and deadly evil to enter and take over the world, but once it was thwarted she became a prisoner until escaping and finding herself a small slice of peace and quiet to rebuild what she could of her life. When two strangers arrive on her doorstep she finds herself in the unique situation of becoming a hero instead of the villain as the works with Anasso of the vampires and one of his Ravens in order to thwart this newest threat. Xi is skeptical about his newest partner but the more time he spends with her as they investigate and work to prevent danger the more he is captivated. Xi has lived a long time and has skills that no other vampire could imagine, but this she-wolf draws him like no other and makes him wonder if he might have finally met his match, but when the ultimate scarified might be the only way to stop their enemies can they find a way for an HEA or will it all end for them? I LOVED this story even as I cried right up until the very end. I can honestly say I haven’t had a story in years that ended out of my expectations, but Ivy truly surprised me and left me hanging until the end when she redeemed herself and her characters. Brigette has learned a lot about herself and the importance of penance, but she knows that she will never be able to make up for all the pain and death she caused in her past—hell even her inner wolf has deserted her for her crimes. She has humbled and changed a lot, but so far it hasn’t been enough to earn her redemption so embracing a relationship with Xi, beyond the simple sexual, is difficult even though the vampire makes her hear race and in body melt. She knows that she can’t just leave the world to be overrun by idiots again, but at the same time she doesn’t want to forfeit the little bit of life she has left, until something truly changes in her heart. Xi was one of the most enigmatic characters I have read in a long time, dark and forbidding for sure, but when he gets to know Brigette he offers his whole heart and soul to the she-wolf who completes him. I loved seeing him in action as they worked together on their missions, but seeing him in painful or heartbreaking moments had me in tears for sure. His strength in the face of loss, willingness to give everything for the greater good, and dedication to his Anasso made him a perfect foil for Brigette to teach her the last lessons she needed to find her redemption. The heat between Brigette and Xi and off the charts and for sure would have burned down half off the planet had the suppressed it for too much longer before they finally gave into the passion. I loved every second of this story and I’m dying to see what Ivy has in store next for her characters, but I would really like to see Xi and Brigette more in future stories for sure to see their HEA in action. Ivy broke my heart, made me laugh and cry, and ultimately reminded us that redemption always comes at a price in her latest masterpiece.

Brigette has literally been to hell and back and no one is harder on her for the sins she's committed than she is on herself. Determined to find redemption for her past she joins a rebel group and voluntarily becomes a spy for the Vampire Anasso Styx. But she never expected him to send a watchdog after her. Xi has demons of his own past but has been able to overcome them and move forward with a more productive life in service of the current Anasso. He never expected that Brigitte would turn out to be his soulmate and even more that she would reciprocate since she shuns even the slightest mercy or ease for herself.

This is another favorite author of mine who has kept my favorite series going... This is now book #17 of the Guardians of Eternity and it is still amazing to read. In this story, we have Bridgette and Xi's (a Raven, part of the Anasso's personal security guard) story. If you remember from the last few books, Bridgette is not truly a good person ( a villain, actually) but she does redeem herself and does it quite nicely. I loved that Ms. Ivy paired her with a mate who was not faultless in his sins as a youth and had also chosen the path to good. Filled with my wonderful and adorable Levet( who by the way needs to get with Inga, queen of the Merfolk), plus Troy our delectable Imp, not to mention past characters make for an enjoyable read. I truly loved this one and laughed way too much. Ms. Ivy is a gem in her own right, writing these wonderful tales. I cannot say how much I really love this series and never want it to end. 4.5 stars*****

I gotta admit that I have been hopping in and out of this series for a while. While I know the general world, I tend to miss some big events along the way. All of that to say that I don't have trouble rejoining this crew and enjoying each installment.

This book follows Brigette, the previous baddie who was under evil influences. She's punishing herself and trying to perform her own form of redemption when she is suddenly faced with an opportunity. She's a bit damaged and determined which somehow ends up putting her in league with a demon/vampire uprising.

Xi has been tasked with finding out who the new big bad is, as evidenced by a series of strange and concerning occurrences in town. He ends up having to team up with the ex-big bad, Brigette. Obviously these two end up reluctantly attracted to each other in the fated way that happens in this series. They both have their own tragic story, and that lends itself to making it feel less rushed and more romantic than others. I liked their sweet moments, but, as usual, Levet was a highlight.

Darkness Betrayed is Book 17 in Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. This is story about redemption, it was quick paced, great world building with hot sexy scenes. Told from 3rd person from various characters, the chemistry between Brigette & Xi are hot and believable.

Alexandra Ivy did a wonderful job in this installment. I'm positive the next book will be another hit too.

Thanks NetGalley for the copy, this is my unbiased review.

It’s about time! We are finally getting Brigette’s story. I was so glad and here is why. I knew there was more to Brigette than the evil we have seen in some of the previous books. Brigette is, well, hard to like. At least until this book.

Brigette really does things for what she thinks is the greater good. She is trying to protect the people she loves and, for that matter, the world as a whole. She might not do it in the right ways but it really is with good intentions. I knew she had it in her!!!

Xi is a cool character who I really enjoyed. How many times have you thought “If I could be a fly on the wall” and know what happened in another room. Well Xi can sorta do that. He can fade into other objects which is pretty cool. But it is also helpful to Brigette while she is undercover. They are perfect for each other.

Ivy is one of my favorite authors. I have liked every book she has written and this book is no exception. I can say that this book “can” be a stand alone but it is a better read when you have the history that Ivy has imagined as you read the entire series.

So here I am jumping into book #17 of Guardians of Eternity series after not having read any of the previous books. Why would I do that you might ask. Because while I haven’t read much by Alexandra Ivy, what I have read, I enjoyed. I thought here’s a new release, just go for it. With that thought in mind, I cracked open Darkness Betrayed and settle in for hopefully a good read.

Not sure if this book was meant to be funny but I found it to be. Funny, fast paced and highly entertaining. The characters were great even though I did struggle a bit to keep up with who was who. There were so many of them and at times I had to keep reminding myself this was Bridgette and Xi’s story. Bridgette being a were and a former villain there was plenty of background given on her that I knew what her past crimes were. Xi is a vampire and I am guessing in this world the mixing of the two is not something that should happen. Really, I am just guessing on that because it seemed more of a personal thing. One that added a lot to their forbidden romance. Well, it didn’t really feel like a romance. More like an action/adventure paranormal story with the building romance relationship between them as a side story instead of the main focus.

There’s a lot of characters in this story and each seemed to have their own thing going on. At times I felt a bit overwhelmed with it all. I struggled a few times where I had to backtrack to remember all the characters and their storylines. All the twists and turns had me guessing what was going to happen next and made it very hard to put the book down. Have to admit, even though Bridgette and Xi were the main characters, my favorite was Levit. Not sure if he has his own story so I’ll be checking previous titles in the series for it. Overall, it was an enjoyable read perfect for readers who wants a entertaining escape.

Stars: 4

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is book 17 in the Guardians of Eternity series and it is werewolf Brigette and vampire/Raven Xi's story. Brigette has betrayed everyone in the past and is looking for redemption now that she is no longer possessed by the evil powers of the Beast. Brigette will have to overcome her dark past for anyone to believe she's changed. Xi is one of Styxx's Ravens who can disappear into his surroundings. Vampire King Styxx has tasked Xi and Brigette to work together to stop the rebels from trying to betray him. Lots of action, suspense, and romance make this another winner by Alexandra Ivy!

At one time it appeared as the author was done with this series but as we have a plethora of characters it's no hardship to continue with the series. This time Xi one of Styxx's ravens is up with Bridgette who once allowed herself to be used as a conduit of evil to destroy her entire family and possibly the world. Now she's full of regrets and allows herself to be swept up into a new conspiracy so she can redeem herself and save the world. Together she and Xi fight their attraction, chase down clues and work to save their part of the world.
Levet that short gargoyle has a starring role in this adventure. He seems to charm the women every where and yet irritates their men with his grammatical mistakes and magic gone awry.
The romance is on a slow boil all through the book, a lot of glances and thoughts but very little action since the story really takes precedence which is actually fine with me. It's a well developed plot that moves at a good pace and will keep you engaged all the way till the end.

Darkness Betrayed is the seventeenth book in the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. It brings to light new faces from times past and present along with a deeper insight into the history of the Guardians of Eternity. While some of our favorite characters from the earlier books do make cameos in Shades of Darkness, the focus is on illuminating new mythos and handling the latest existential crisis that has arisen.

This book focuses on Brigette, a mystical being who was once a conduit for the ultimate evil to reach Earth. To atone for her sins, she now lives alone in Ireland. Some rebels approach her to take down the Vampire king. At long last, her ordeal ends, however, her talent for causing mayhem has landed her in a sticky spot many times.

Xi is a powerful vampire who serves the Anasso. However, the vivacious Brigette, with her fiery personality and effervescence, gets under his skin. He is drawn to protect her and do his duty for his king.

Together, Xi and Brigette work to save the world from an ancient evil and to seek redemption for Brigette. This book is truly spellbinding. Alexandra Ivy creates characters with such depth that you just can't help rooting for them.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC

Darkness Betrayed by Alexandra Ivy is another good book to the Guardians of Eternity Series. This is Bridget and Xi's story. I like the way Bridget has redeemed herself after destroying her family and controlled by evil. Xi, one of Styx's ravens and Bridget seems on the surface to be an unlikely pairing. But, it works.
As is usual for this series, the story is fast paced with a lot of intrigue and action. I also do love the secondary characters especially Levet.
I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I thank Netgalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read and give an honest review on an advanced copy of this book.

Darkness Betrayed by Alexandra Ivy is the 17th book in the Guardians of Eternity and as we’ve come to expect, Ms Ivy has written another intense, dangerous and captivating story where sins of the past come back to haunt you in the present. The background story and current unrest provide the reader with plenty of intrigue and excitement, but the romance between Brigette and Xi felt lacking in the usual intensity that accompanies these stories. There’s much to enjoy about this story, and I’m sure it will be extremely well received, but for me the chemistry wasn’t fully explored.

Brigette has done some awful things but she knows it and feels awful about it. She's also suffered for the things she's done and even her wolf has turned her back on her now. She used to have the power of the darkness but she doesn't have that anymore and not everyone knows that yet. So when some rebels come and ask for her help, she says yes knowing full well she'll never help them. She's acting as a spy for Styxx and trying to help him since he helped her.

Xi is called when Brigette gets word to Styxx that rebel forces are going to try and overthrow him and his people. Styxx asks Xi to go with Brigette to make sure that what she's saying is true but while he's there he becomes more and more attracted to her.

Brigette had been used by the beast for many years and now that she's free of him, she's an outcast and no one trusts her. But she truly does feel awful for the things she's done and has no idea how to go about her life now. So when she can stop some rebels from doing damage to Styxx, she helps as much as she can. Xi is along for the ride to see what Styxx is up against so he and Brigette spend a lot of time together and find that they are attracted to one another.

There's a lot of danger and Brigette and Xi find themselves in the thick of it. Once they figure out what and who is really behind the attack on Styxx it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be. There were a couple of great twists at the end of this book. I love how it ended.

I loved seeing Levet in this book. He's so funny and I find it hilarious that he gets under the skin of so many of the characters in this series.

I received an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
