Jason Bourne continues to mourn lost love and lost memories. Plenty of action and intrigue. Your typical Ludlum Book. Thanks to NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was screaming "READ ME" as I was flipping through looking for something to read. It's old school Bourne. Fast paced, take no prisoners, shoot until you run out of ammo action that keeps the pages turning long into the night. Brian Freeman has done an excellent job of bringing Bourne back to his fans.

Jason Bourne was a character created by the late Robert Ludlum with his place being in the sub-CIA organization dubbed Treadstone. The organization was an attempt to create the most perfect warriors by the CIA. There have been several authors granted rights to use the character and of course, among them is Brian Freeman.
Three years ago, Bourne and his partner and lover Nova were assigned to rescue a Russian double agent in Estonia. The mission turned out to be a failure. Later Nova killed in action. in a mission in Las Vegas. The Russian also died at the hands of an assassin known as Lennon.
Present day and Bourne is called into action as Lennon is preparing another assassination attempt this time in London. But the parameters have changed when nothing about the mission is as it should be. Confusion rules as one thing after another gets in the way of Bourne's investigation. After a while it becomes evident to Bourn that some things remain as they are and not readily available for discovery. A fast moving adventure that will stoke the reader's interests marred only by the overly frequent permutations and twists which does throw a bit of difficulty in following the story line completely. But for those many fans of adrenalin rushes of action with no letup a satisfying and engrossing read with little necessity of analysis needed to enjoy the story.

The Bourne Treachery is an excellent follow-up to rebooted ‘The Bourne Evolution’ that came out last year. It felt more closely aligned with the Jason Bourne we have come to love from Robert Ludlum’s original awe-inspiring trilogy. The shockingly profound twists throughout the story felt reminiscent of Robert Ludlum’s shock-and-awe style of writing where the bombshell twists shook the entire narrative to its core.
Jason Bourne goes after a notorious and enigmatic terrorist known to the intelligence community only as Lennon. With a penchant for John Lennon’s music along with twisted lust for violence, brainwashing, and staying anonymous, he proves to be just as great of a threat as Carlos The Jackal from Bourne’s past, if not greater. As Bourne fights his way out of sticky situations, he can’t shake the feeling Lennon is someone from his amnesia-stricken past. From the first chapter itself, there is a big showdown in the making with two lethal killers who share a past that Bourne may not remember until it is too late.
The non-stop action is a mix of deathly fisticuffs and shootouts which continue to demonstrate Bourne’s badassery in high spirits from the Ludlum books. I did find the lack of descriptions for weapons to be a little out of character for Jason Bourne stories but I hope the next one fixes this issue. The weapons nomenclature in thrillers allows for a more realistic visualization of action sequences and the next Jason Bourne action thriller can immensely benefit from incorporating descriptions about the weapons.
I loved that the story developed smoothly over the narrative, tying up the necessary events and leaving the larger mystery for the next book. I am extremely excited to see where Brian Freeman takes Jason Bourne next.

I love Jason Bourne and I am so happy that Brian Freeman has taken over the continuation of this series. Just receiving a NetGalley copy makes me so gleeful I can't wait to start reading.

Tighten your seat belts for another action-packed, thrill seeking ride through all the twists and turns Jason is known for as he still battles the demons of his memory loss, and comes up against a ruthless devil of an assassin that seems to know more about him then he does about the killer. There is never a dull moment in this novel and I wanted to finish it last night but my eyes so no. So add it to your summer to-read list and you won't be disappointed.

Did I say how much I love Jason Bourne?
