I thought this was the start of a new series, but turns out it's the sixth book in a series! Oh well, from what I can tell on Goodreads, each of the previous books tells the story of a different McKinnie sister, so this sixth one was easy enough to read as a standalone. I couldn't help feeling that Hannah McKinnie might have had a little more depth for me if I'd read some of the other books, though. Neither Hannah nor Eli, the other main character, really changed much throughout the book, until the very end, where it seemed like suddenly they both changed their minds about things they'd been pretty sure of for the rest of the book. I liked Eli's children and some of the other side characters, as well. This was an all right story overall, but the ending may have felt less sudden if the story had been a little longer. At 133 pages, it felt more like a novella. Was this supposed to be a novella and I missed the memo?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the eARC of this book.

This was a story of love, forgiveness, and how God can heal relationships. I really liked how it both sides had things they needed to work through together. It was overall a light read.... Considering the material had potential heavy matters.
I love the time period and the characters, and of course, the happy ending!

This story had me from the first page, I completely loved it! Not being completely honest carries consequences, but so does the unwillingness to forgive.
