I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

A nice easy read, although I did find I lacked enthusiasm to pick up the book and it took me longer overall to read. If you’re looking for something easy and a story which doesn’t take you to think about, it is perfect, albeit it a bit predictable.

I know this review is long overdue but I’m so very glad I read this lovely book. I’ve never read any Libby Page before but I will definitely look out for her titles from now on. Lorna and her daughter Ella are visiting the island of Kip a place Lorna left when she was 18 and never thought she would go back now they are back Lorna has to face her brother who she left all those years ago and she has to face her past and maybe Ella’s family will be made up of more than just her. A lovely read about family, community and how secrets can damage you so badly.

Another excellent book from Libby Page! I loved the characters, the community, and the love sprinkled throughout this book, This is another book that I would love to learn more about after the final pages. Excellent!

A solid book, but not one that really clicked with me as it all felt a bit vanilla and dull rather than what I expected

The Island Home is written from the perspective of Lorna and Alice. They are sisters in law but have never met. Lorna grew up with her abusive parents and brother Jack on a small Scottish island. When she was 18, she ran away and never came back. She moved to London where she ended up raising her daughter Ella as a single mother. Alice moved to the island after falling in love with Jack and they ended up having a daughter called Molly. Despite their parents not speaking, Molly and Ella got in contact over social media and Ella eventually convinces Lorna to go back to the island for a summer so she can meet her family and attend her grandparent's funerals.

This book is set over the summer that they visit the island and also includes some flashback scenes to Lorna's childhood. On the whole, I thought this was very well written. This book handles a lot of tough issues and I think it did so in a very real way. All of the characters were realistic in that no one was perfect and everyone made some bad choices along the way.

Despite dealing with heavy topics, the book still feels like a light, fun summer read and there are plenty of heart-warming moments and even some funny ones. I would really recommend it.

An uplifting and beautiful read, a lovely book during these difficult times, great characters, my favourite in books a great community, friendships and spirit, wonderful escape from reality

Heartwrenching & uplifting in equal measures.
The setting was so well described it was almost like a character in its own right.

I've just finished reading The Island Home and I've already bought other 2 of Libby Page's books. That's how much I liked it. I just love finding new authors.
Winning point of this book are the characters and their relationships, in addition to the wonderful landscape descriptions.
I felt a kind of connection to Lorna's character and could really feel her emotions, especially those connected her "little brother".

I adore Libby Pages’s books and this one was No exception! This was a beautiful book about family, community and friendship

I loved the Island living storyline and I really felt as though I was there on the Island of Kip! Libby really painted a realistic rather than idealistic picture of Island life which I really appreciated.

Another great book by this author, I can’t wait for her next, Definitely an auto buy author for me!

So evocative of island living, and a great escape in a book.

I’ve read Libby Page’s previous books and always think she captures so well the relationship and emotions between her cast of characters.

This book is no exception. The description of adults coming to terms with their childhoods and pasts was movingly handled and never mawkish.

I didn’t finish this book, I found it a little slow for my liking but the writing was otherwise good and really conjured a beautiful scene.

I have loved Libby's previous novels and this one was more of the same absolutely lovely and heart-warming stuff!

A great read once I got in to my reading stride (no fault of the book or author), Lorna returns to the island she was born following the death of her parents having departed over twenty years earlier under the cloak of darkness and never returning. Can she build bridges with the brother and friends she left behind? An island full of character and colour.

A slow, predictable read. I enjoyed The Lido but this novel did not engage me enough. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

The story centres around two narrators, Alice and Lorna. Alice lives on the Isle of Kip and loves it there. She runs her own yoga classes and has a beautiful community surrounding her. Her daughter Molly and husband Jack are her world but she too has her struggles which we learn of as the story progresses.

Our other narrator, Lorna, fled the Isle of Kip twenty years ago and has not spoken to her brother Jack since. Since leaving the island she has had her own daughter, Ella, and has thought that is all she needed. What she hadn’t counted on was her daughter and Jack’s daughter Molly to team up and create their own sibling trap! Our story starts with Lorna and Ella making their way to the Isle of Kip and from their we learn more about Loran’s past and why she fled all those years ago.

This was emotional from start to finish and I often found myself holding back the tears. Whether it was during the yoga lesson, at the funeral or during Jack and Lorna’s discussions I couldn’t help but feel the emotion. Trust me when I say you will need tissues!

This is my first book by Libby Page but I have been following her on Twitter for a while now. This might seem strange to say as I only know Libby from her tweets about her writing or her family life but I could feel that there was so much of Libby’s personality in this story. It is very rare that you read a book and can feel the authors love, sweat and tears resonating off the pages but it was shining through in this book.

To put it simply The Island Home was perfection! I can not fault it in it’s diverse characters, the beautiful setting or the plot at all. Libby Page created a warm and cosy community and a story that felt like coming home.

A lovely story, beautifully written with well crafted characters.

In an attempt to get thru my TBR pile, this gem was a gorgeous book by @libbypagewrites #theislandhome is a lovely unputdownable story about returning to your roots and making peace with your past. Anything @libbypagewrites is brilliant, and I will be queing up for the next novel at @bookabookshop

An uplifting read. A beautiful tale of love loss misunderstandings lies and island life. I will definitely read more by this author.
