This book is just pure FUN. The idea of wondering what kind of "secret lives" the teachers and other school staff lead when they're not at school is one with which kids will be able to relate (especially since most kids seem to think we live at school!). The colorful pictures perfectly complement the text, and the premises of each of these first two installments in the series are simple, but brilliant at the same time. (I, being an elementary school librarian, especially appreciated book 2.) I just kept marveling at how smart the plot lines were, and I think kids will appreciate the idea of the lunch ladies with the double lives, as well as the teachers with the diabolical plans. This is not a series I've purchased for my library before, but now it looks like I'll be adding it to my shelves!

The first two books in the Lunch Lady series, Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute and Lunch Lady and the League of Librarians have been combined in this new release and if you haven’t already fallen in love with this series, you will. With an unlikely superhero and her sidekick who use hilarious kitchen gadgets and food-inspired threats you’ll be laughing through both stories. If that’s not enough to get you interested, maybe the villains and their funny agendas will grab your interest. Author Jarrett J. Krosoczka not only provides an excellent plot but also gives us fantastic and humorous illustrations that fit perfectly with the story. The other great thing is that there is clearly more mischief on the menu for the next books for you to enjoy. Reluctant readers and graphic novel fans will LOVE this series.

I didn’t think anything could make Linchlady better, until now! My favorite GN series continues to hit the mark.

Anyone who serves elementary students can't go wrong with this purchase. It's the first two books of the always funny Lunch Lady series. I'm looking forward to having as either another copy to get kids' hands on the series.

As always, Jarrett J. Krosoczka brings the humor in his Lunch Lady series. In a nutshell, students, who call themselves the breakfast bunch, have always wondered what the person who serves them their food does when she is not at work. Is she a cat lady, with 100 cats, or just a normal mom taking care of a family, or is she a spy? In actuality, the Lunch Lady is a superhero of sorts! She, and another lunch lady, fight evil using imaginative gadgets like the Spatu-copter, Spork Phones, and Milk Cams. I highly recommend this book to 2nd through 6th graders.

Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC of this book.

I love the Lunch Lady. This is a fantastic series. It will be a huge hit with the students. It has something relatable to them and a twist of fantasy and excitement thrown in. Makes for a great combination. It left me wanting to be the lunch lady.

Terrence, Hector, and Dee wonder what the lunch lady at their school does when she's not serving school meals. They are shocked to find that she is a superhero, helped by her colleague Betty and her amazing inventions. Elementary grade readers will love seeing how the lunch lady and Betty save the day and the school--with a little help from Terrence, Hector, and Dee along the way in the second installment in the series. Elementary graphic novel and humor fans will enjoy this series and may find themselves wondering about the lunchroom staff at their own schools...

The first two books in the Lunch Lady graphic novel series were a quick and easy yet exciting read that reminded me of the Captain Underpants books. My fourth grade students would absolutely eat up these stories (no pun intended!)

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced electronic copy of this fun book. This delightful 2-in-1 book in the spirit of Captain Underpants is about two lunch ladies fighting crime. It would definitely appeal to the upper elementary age group. Looking forward to sharing this book with my students.

This was a super short, quirky, and entertaining graphic novel. It actually had the first two lunch lady books in it and I read it by myself and then with my 10-year-old. She loved it and wants to read more of the adventures of the Lunch Lady. I thought it was very entertaining with a bit of an educational aspect to it and great artwork and very creative with the Lunch Lady and her superhero life and a great bunch of gadgets. We're looking forward to reading more about the adventures of the Lunch Lady and adding to our graphic novel collection when this comes out in February. Keep this on your radar especially if you have kids who also love graphic novels and reading. Thanks so much to Random House Children's Publishing/Knopf Books for Young Readers and NetGalley for letting me read and review this super fun graphic novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to #NetGalley, Jarrett Krosoczka, and the publisher for the ARC copy of this book.
I have read all of Mr. Krosoczka's lunch lady books and absolutely loved them! I love the fact that you can now get the first two books in one book.
Hector, Terrence, and Dee are always curious about what their lunch lady does when she's not serving lunch. What they don't know is that she is a superhero and fights bad guys!
