Jack is an alcoholic who is mean to his family, Emma wants to divorce him and her friends are fighting the BFF title and let's not forget the kids. While it starts off with a literal "bang", that's about the most excitement you'll get from this. None of the characters are likeable and I really just wanted the story to end because I didn't care about the ending.

I would not recommend this one.

I read this book in one day! I could not put it down! I enjoyed all the twists in the book. Some I didn't even see coming. I would definitely recommend this book!

This was a pretty good read. Not hard to figure out the general "who done it" but still a bit of a twist. There were some twists I didn't see coming. Lighter than a lot of the books I read but I really enjoyed it.

A very engaging domestic thriller. When Emma's husband is found dead, she has to hide just how much she isn't grieving the loss.

Recommended for fans of Lisa Jewell and Darby Kane.

I did not read Wish You Were Gone by Kiernan Scott through an educator lens.

Wish You Were Gone was a slow burn with multiple points of view that hooks you into the family drama for that slow burn. While the characters were fairly unlikeable even with the characterization, I still wanted to know how things would turn out for this sad, dysfunctional family.

Emma Walsh, has had it with her husband. She has two beautiful children, a beautiful house and a seemingly perfect life. But things aren’t always as they seem. Her husband is horrible. He is verbally abusive and an alcoholic. He has so many secrets that Emma couldn’t even guess. One night her husband has a crazy accident and dies. This sets Emma on a mission to find out all the sordid details of his life. Her children are hesitant to investigate and her friends want her to move but she can’t.. she has to know.. James business, his partner Darnell & his wife Gray know more than they are willing to say. Her friend, Lizzie, has her own secrets and her own daughter with troubles. Emma doesn’t know what to believe or who to trust.. Can she figure the mystery out? Can she find the answers she needs? Can she handle the truth? This was a very good mystery. I really didn’t know how it would end? It kept guessing. I want to thank Netgalley & Kieran Scott for my copy of Wish You Were Gone, for an honest review. It was a pleasure to read and review this book. I hope you like it as much as I did..

The beginning grabbed me right away but then the story stepped back into explaining how we got here. And that part, the main part of the story, felt really YAish to me. I sped up the audiobook to the maximum just to get through it.

The ending was fantastic and completely satisfying.

So I guess I will rate this as a 3.

No matter how well we may think we know a close friend or a loved one, people can still find a way to surprise us. In Wish You Were Gone by author Kieran Scott, one woman discovers that there is so much that she didn’t know about her late husband...

I really enjoyed it. It was my first book by the author and I will definitely be checking out his other works. Fast-paced and full of twists and turns. It will have you on the edge of your seat.

I am always super stoked when you pick up a new-to-you author's book, and absolutely fall in love and automatically want to read everything ever written by said author. That's how I felt with this book! It was love author at first read!

I found myself conflicted while reading this because it doesn't feel right to celebrate someone's death, but I've honestly never been so happy to see a character die because James was deplorable! But you can't help but find yourself rooting for Emma! The back and forth between her friends at times seemed to be a bit much, but it wasn't too distracting from the story. Plus, let's just face it...not every single one of a person's friends are going to get alone so that was an interesting relationship to play out in the story.

I couldn't believe how many different twists and turns this story had (with me being able to fully keep up!) It really was a fantastic read that kept me wanting to listen long past when I should be just so I could figure out what was going to happen next! To me, that is the BEST KIND OF BOOK!!!

There were several characters in this book and several points-of-view, but I didn't feel like it was distracting or hard to keep up with them at all! I really enjoyed all aspects of this book! I absolutely love in a review by fellow author Chandler Baker, that it will keep you guessing “until not just the last page, but the last paragraph". I couldn't have put that better myself (of course an author can put it more eloquently than I can!)

Overall, I was super thrilled with this read and couldn't wait to gobble it all up! It's been a long time since a book captivated me that much and this one did! This has to be one of the best books of 2022!

Thanks to Netgalley for sending me the ARC! I expected it to be better or more climatic than it was and the ending didn't do anything for me! I rate it a 2.9!

Kieran Scott has done it again, but this time with an entry in the domestic thriller genre. The plot is engrossing and filled with twists that leave readers on the edge of their seats. Emma is fed up with her husband's drunken antics and is finally going to say something - only she never gets her chance because he winds up dead in a fatal car crash. Now Emma is left to pick up the pieces with her two teenagers in tow. What happens when she learns some new mysterious information about her late husband? The writing and character development is strong. Highly recommended!!

DNF about 16% - this read really off for me - I didn't like any of the characters, the writing felt simplistic but dealing with complex subjects, and something about it just didn't work for me.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion. HOLY COW! This book is fantastic! It starts off crazy on page one and doesn't let up until the very end. There will be times you think you have it all figured out and then a new twist appears and makes you second guess everything. My advice - start this early in the day as you will not want to put it down! Loved it!

I like the multiple POVs for the narration. However, I felt some of the twists were predictable. And with the ones that weren’t, left me disappointed and not surprised.

A domestic drama full of twists and surprises. Kieran Scott hits it out of the park with suspense and well written characters

James Walsh is dead – an alcoholic who drove his car into the garage of his family home, leaving his wife and two children to grieve and shattering their perfect family image. But there’s more to this even than meets the eye – and Kieran Scott has woven a complex and gripping story from the aftermath of one tragic night.

Told in alternating viewpoints from a wide cast of the friends and family of the deceased, Wish You Were Gone is a domestic thriller that deservedly stands out from its genre. Too many of these books are a race to find out what happened, but I enjoyed the journey of this novel at least as much as I wanted to find out the destination of the reveal. I did lose track of which character I was following in a chapter once or twice, but overall, I appreciated having more viewpoints into such a twisty story – the different perspectives gave the storyline a depth that allowed the author to explore the situation with more nuanced and layering than a lot of thrillers achieve.

That was something else that really stood Wish You Were Gone apart from the herd, to me – alcoholics can be hard on their families, but are frequently very much still loved by them. This father and husband was one who caused his family pain and suffering, and yet knew how to light up a room when he was ‘on’. The mix of grief, relief, and guilt that they felt on his death was presented realistically without bogging down the thriller side of the story, and with a hopeful note; I thought it struck a really delicate balance perfectly.

So, in short, Kieran Scott has written a book that’s intriguing, entertaining, and a real joy to read, despite the heavy topics it deals with. Thriller lovers who appreciate a captivating mystery with plenty of depth will find themselves very happy indeed.
