I really had a hard time getting into this book. I found that the book seemed rather dull and failed to live up to the thrilling description. I couldn't finish the book.

Wish You Were Gone by Kieran Scott delivers a suspenseful web of secrets & lies between friends and family. With so many hidden motives and complex people, you will be captivated by these suburban lives. A lot of band-aids are ripped off…some by fate and others by choice.

Emma, with a huge, naive heart, endures her violent egotistical husband, James’s affair with alcohol and a lot of secrets. Her character portrays a lovable mom who wants more for her 2 teenagers when his abuse affects them too. Her plans to deliver divorce papers to her husband at dinner are disintegrated when he never shows up.

Emma’s friends are well-characterized and believable. Gray, the protector and friend hides the pain and deceptions at times but can deliver a punch that Emma feels is condescending at times. Gray’s husband is James’s partner in business, who delivers proactive favors and mixed messages.

Then there is Lizzie, supposedly Emma’s best friend….her intentions and obsession are hidden….she appears nosey and instigating.

When James runs his car through the garage, killing him on impact, Emma is left with unanswered questions. Her sleuthing leads to an array of surprises and twist~turns connecting a revelation of relationships unforeseen. Her grief and anger is heartfelt.

The dramatic relationships are intertwined and counterproductive by fate….🙃 A very enjoyable suspenseful read that Kieran Scott is notorious for. Now I need to see Netflix’s Dead to Me…

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Excellent story of a family with many devastating secrets. James by all accounts is a loving husband to a beautiful family, but looks can be deceiving. What James really is, is an abusive alcoholic who terrorizes his wife Emma and their two kids on a regular basis. When James dies in what looks like a horrific accident at his own home, should his wife just be grateful he is gone or try to find the truth out about what really happened. Impossible to put down, this excellent book is not to be missed. I would give way more than 5 stars if possible.

I love a good thriller/mystery and this book was just what I needed to get me out of my thriller slump. I absolutely loved the different POV and I found myself waking up at all hours of the night to read just a little bit more. The storyline was detailed and chapters short that it kept my interest. I felt as though the author did a great job painting the thoughts and feelings of the characters especially Emma and Kelsey! I found myself rooting for them, as well as shocked and surprised many times throughout the story. I love how it all connected at the end in a way I didn’t see coming. Thank you netgalley and publisher for this advanced read. I will definitely be purchasing this book for my collection in November. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I got a sneak peek of Wish You Were Gone by Kieran Scott and I am reading it slowly because I've been so tired. Someone get me a giant coffee with extra caffeine STAT.

As someone who grew up in northern NJ, I love the Jersey setting of this book and can't help but wonder which little town Keiran based the fictitious town on? Hmmm. I am imagining some of the cute towns around where I lived and find myself missing the east coast as always.
Enough about me and New Jersey!

Here's the plot:

"Emma Walsh’s looks-great-on-the-outside marriage is at the breaking point, and she’s finally worked up the courage to confront her husband James about his drinking—his alcoholic rages, his blackouts, the uncertainty and fear his behavior has created for her and their two kids. But James never shows up to meet her as planned, and all her righteous words go unsaid. And unsaid they remain, because the next time Emma sees James, his body is crumpled amidst the wreckage of his flashy car, smashed to its final resting place halfway through the back wall of their suburban house’s roomy garage.

In the aftermath of the fatal crash, she and her teenage children, Kelsey and Hunter, begin to imagine life without the looming, volcanic presence of their husband and father. Buoyed by the support of her two closest friends, Emma struggles to deal with her grief, complicated by the knowledge that James’s legacy as an upstanding business owner and family man shines only because so many people were so willing, for so long, to keep his secrets—secrets that twist into new and unexpected shapes as the mysterious details of his last day of life begin to come to light."

Im looking forward to reading this later today. I love a good domestic suspense that has me guessing whats going to happen next!

What do you drink/eat when you need to WAKE UP? ☕️

Wish You Were Gone was a good read, however I wish the description hadn't compared it to Dead to Me because, by my own fault, I was waiting for a similar plot line and was a little disappointed.

Emma Walsh has the seemingly perfect family; great husband, two kids, nice house... but appearances aren't always what they seem. What people don't see however, is her husband James' drinking problem and angry outbursts. One night, Emma is woken up by a loud crash only to find her husband dead after drunk driving his car through the garage.

While this is tragic, for Emma it is finally her out. She wanted to divorce James but could never work up the courage. This had a good story line with a lot of family drama and twists that I didn't see coming, along with what really happened that night to James. I did figure out one of the bigger twists, but it didn't take away from the suspense of the ending.

Over all I would definitely recommend reading this!

this is a well-written page-turner that’ll engage you from the first chapter and keep you interested through the end. for someone who’s not a huge fan of family dramas and domestic thrillers, i found this book to be utterly captivating and i was invested in the story from the beginning.

Loved the show Dead To Me and this book was so similar! Sometimes a death in the family is hard, but other times it's a well deserved punishment and for James Walsh, he got what he had coming! I liked the puzzling storyline, and all the random tidbits of information that seemed random at the time but made total sense later on. I do think sometimes there was a little too much useless information, and that some chapters could have been edited out or summarized. But for the most part I was interested in learning more about the Walsh family and all their drama!

Thank you Kieran Scott, Gallery Books and NetGalley for the advance copy to read in return for my honest review!

This book was equally thrilling and suspenseful with some mystery thrown in. Emma Walsh has a picture perfect marriage on the outside but her husband James is an alcoholic with a temper. She finally gets up the nerve to confront him but he never showed for a dinner that he scheduled. The next time she sees him, he is dead in his car after crashing into their garage. Emma and her kids, Hunter and Kelsey, are learning to navigate their new normal while everyone who knew James talks about how wonderful he was. Emma's friends, Gray and Lizzie, are trying to help her come to terms with his death and move on while each guarding their own secrets. I feel like most of the books I read these days are written from multiple POV and flashbacks which can get a bit tiresome but the method worked for this story although there were a lot of characters. I didn't find any of the characters particularly likeable but kept reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen. The beginning started a bit slow but the end sped by. So many twists that I didn't see coming. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a book that will keep you guessing.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Whoa! This book is well constructed puzzle: psychological thriller + mystery meets domestic thriller with multi POVed narration style, making you drawn into family drama and you got hooked from the beginning, absorbing slow burn but extremely interesting high tension progression of the story.

When Emma sees her husband’s dead body crumpled against the wreckage of his flashy car, smashed to their suburban house’s roomy garage, she got speechless! Should she call her friends and start the party? Should she celebrate because the alcoholic/ abusive/ liar/ cheater bastard finally got what he deserved! Is this the way how divine justice works!

Emma wished to see her husband dead because he was not only making miserable her life, he was also torturing his own kids with his anger issues, physical and verbal abusive acts. He screamed his daughter’s face and shoved his son to the ground just the day before the die!

Her daughter Kelsey hated her and she also relieved he died. Because she couldn’t stand to live with the man who turned her life into hell! Her son Hunter had complex feelings because he still remembers the good times he spent with his dad. Once upon a time they had great father and son connection. But his father’s addiction to alcohol took away his entire good traits and turned him into a monster.

It seems like not only his family relieved after James Walsh’s sudden suspicious accident/ suicide/ self destruction kind of death!
Or could it be murder? Because there are so many missing pieces of the puzzle and so many strange incidents prove this cannot be a simple accident. Unfortunately there are too many people have motives to get rid of him including his own family!

Emma’s two close friends Gray and Lizzie also acts like they’re keeping secrets from her. Those two women never got along and Gray always finds Lizzie’s intentions for Emma are not sincere. Lizzie finds Gray intimidating and controlling.

Gray married with Darrell who was also the partner of James. But it seems like before the night James died they had a big fight. What was the reason behind their quarrel? Why Darrell doesn’t act like himself after the incident? What is he keeping himself?
And why Lizzie is so obsessed with Emma? Why her daughter Willow spends more time in Emma’s household than her own house?

Kelsey deals with terrible panic attacks and Lizzie’s daughter Willow threats her about spilling beans. What those girls get into themselves?

Impressive, detailed characterization, intriguing, riveting pace, well constructed twists: I loved my reading journey a lot! And I highly recommend you to experience it at first hand!

Especially each member of Walsh family: Emma, Kelsey, Hunter and their traumatic, sad, dysfunctional family story affected me so deeply and earned my twisty, suspicious, puzzle pieces, well written four stars!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the Kindle ARC. This book wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but sometimes that's a good thing. When Emma's husband, James, is found dead in his car after crashing into the family garage, she is almost relieved. James was an alcoholic, who would rage at her and their two teen children. Her daughter is more relieved than her son but the absence of James's loud and belligerent ways makes a big impact on the family. Emma's closets friends, Gray and Lizzie, are at odds with each other and both of them have something to hide from Emma. There are quite a few twists and turns in the book and it has a very surprising ending. Wish You Were Gone is a very fast-paced, suspense novel.

This book…holy cow!!! The twists are incredible! Just when you think you have it figured out - BOOM!!

I don’t want to give too much away. Emma, Lizzie and Gray are 3 friends who all have secrets. When Emma’s husband unexpectedly dies, it starts a whole chain of events and no one can escape them.

Incredible writing!!

Must read! Wish You Were Gone is a novel that will have you staying up way past your bedtime saying “one more chapter”!

This thriller had me second guessing any theory or impression I initially had, my head was all over the place—LOVE THAT! The plot is extremely well-developed with a cast of characters that are so realistic you feel as if you know them! After finishing this 5 star read, I honestly was blown away how amazing Kieran Scott was to the attention to details! I haven’t read Kieran Scott prior, but I am definitely going to be keeping her on my radar!

This book was such a page turner! You were constantly guessing at what was going to happen next. It definitely kept my attention to the very end! It was very fast moving and full of drama. It was told from many different viewpoints so as long as you’re okay with that, you won’t be able to put it down!

This book definitely kept me guessing the entire time! The beginning sucks you in and you desperately want to know how James last night played out. I will say there A TON of viewpoints going on, which made is a tricky read. I had to flip back multiple times to see from which viewpoint I was actually reading. The end wasn't what I expected but to be honest I don't even know what I was expecting. I would recommend if you aren't scared off by many many viewpoints!

Not my favorite by Scott. Felt this lagged a little and I didn’t find any character particularly likable. Fairly predictable, but I did like the epilogue “twist” to complicate things a bit. I will say I’m unsure this book handled abuse well. It’s just glossed over and not really discussed as being a perpetual problem that would leave lasting ramifications.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
