This was such a fun and easy read to get through. I loved seeing the characters and how they interacted with Laura. I also loved seeing Laura's dilemma because when Cupid finds her her perfect match, she starts to fall in love... with someone else. I loved seeing her thought process and the events that take place throughout this book.

This is book that I would say is a book about finding and loving yourself .

so Laura is under threat of being made redundant from a magazine she writes for , her ex all shacked up with there ex flatmate , she ended up living with her not so lovely sister and her wonderful brother in law .

she ends up being asked to do this trial a new dating service called cupid so she goes for it ,they find your match by matching you internet search history.

I really enjoyed this book I could relate as I've been at that point when I knew I needed to look after me and find out who and what I wanted in life doesn't men needing a man or though for me it did happen once I found out what I wanted from life and felt Laura was very much the same .
was I expecting a bit of romance maybe but I think it was even better ,I thought the story was very up lifting ,bubbly and witty, with a bit of girl power .


I really loved Emma writing style it flowed brilliantly really great easy read .

I enjoyed this book so much that it was hard to put down. I don't agree with all of the choices the main character made, but I understand that as a human being (albeit fictional) Laura can do exactly what she wants. I feel like a lot happened throughout the book and it was really pleasent to be a part of so many journeys. The novels title is definitely fitting, and was shown to be true throughout the story. There really is no such thing as perfect, and that's totally okay. In the age of social media it is really easy to compare yourself (and your journey) to the edited snapshot you see of someone else's life; this may not even be a conscious thought, but as shown within this book the grass is always greener where you water it.

Laura Morrison earns the opportunity to trial a new dating service named Cupid. It generates matches based on internet search history, and Laura, who feels unlucky in almost all aspects of life, jumps at the chance to find a happily ever after.

The book is an easy read, and you are naturally drawn into empathising with Laura while experiencing the journey with her. There are times when her actions really frustrated me, but in the face of desperation her behaviours feel authentic. I was fully invested in the story and it has a satisfactory ending, however it’s left slightly open-ended in terms of the romance and the reader is left guessing what will probably happen next. I do wish there had been more closure for Laura!

However, there are parts of this book that are vibrant, really made me chuckle, and provided a relatable escape. Overall, this is a great summer read, ideal for fans of films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Bridget Jones's Diary!

Nice easy read, not your typical love story but a fun read.

I would say this is a nice book to take away on holidays.

Oh yay!!! I liked this!! It was totally not what I expected- and such a good finale!!! YESSSS!!!

Overall this book was great! I liked the story line and it is definitely not your typical romance novel. It was quite refreshing. The characters were overall great and Jamie was definitely my favourite. I found Laura to be a bit petulant at times and I found that I would be annoyed with her when reading. I was definitely not her biggest fan at times- I felt like she constantly needed a reminder to grow up. I also loved the dynamic of the familial relationships- I found I could really relate to a lot of the things that happened to Laura’s family. Also- completely loved HARRISON- he was one of the most full of character dogs I’ve read about in a long time!

If you’re looking for an atypical “boy meets girl” novel with a refreshing ending- I suggest you pick this one up!

P.s Wish there was a book about Jamie and Whit!!! I’d love to hear how two completely different people wind up so madly In love- I don’t say this often but… may be time for a prequel!! 😊

I'm undecided on this book. It started off very promisingly and I loved the fun writing style - Hughes writes extremely well! It was the plot and characters which were problematic for me.

There were a lot of characters (possibly too many as I began to get them all confused) and most of them could have been cut out as they didn't bring anything further to the book. Though well-developed, I found the characters unrelatable and didn't like any of them which made it hard to invest in them or be interested in the way their stories ended.

As an idea, the plot sounded interesting but in practice, I don't think I was convinced by it. The way that Adam and Laura so quickly fell into a 'relationship' and the whole idea of the Cupid dating app just didn't sit right with me and made the book feel a bit too unrealistic. There were sections which I found myself skipping as they weren't relevant and didn't further the plot at all.

Overall, a quick and easy light read but unfortunately nothing stayed with me after I had put this down.

This was a very well-written and sharply observed women's fiction novel. The premise is centred on a female reporter on the brink of being made redundant who is given the opportunity to rescue her job at the expense of her personal life - experimenting with a new form of dating that matches people based on their internet history and data collection. The idea itself had a lot of potential, but as the story never really delved into anything properly, always seeming to hover on the edges of a plot line, drifting along into long conversations and memories that didn't seem to drive us anywhere in particular, plus relationships that all felt unsuitable and a protagonist that wasn't all that likeable, I found myself dissatisfied.

There were some lovely comical moments, and great insights into relationships of all kinds, especially familial ones, and the reality of marriage/relationships in the modern age. There was definitely a lot of social commentary throughout, especially with the use of settings, and in other circumstances I would have found it funny, but by the end it sort of left me despairing at the human race. I felt I could relate to some of the characters, and others seemed just out of reach - like Adam and Cass.

I wanted to feel connected to a love story, really root for it, and I definitely wanted to connect with the protagonist, but I just didn't get there and I ended the book feeling cheated. Laura, the protagonist, felt so much younger to me than her stated age, and I actively disliked her at times for being so childish, for not seeming to be able to form her own opinions, or for making so many stupid decisions.

All in all, Emma Hughes writing itself is not to be faulted, but this wasn't an enjoyable book for me which is a shame. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy!

This was a funny, witty story that I did enjoy! There could have possibly been more character development but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend!

A slow burn, romance. Perfect beach read, easy to return to in between dips in the pool.

Twists and turns throughout, will they/won't they, push/pull relationship with two characters who appear incompatible, but maybe they're meant to be.

This embodies a great summer read. The writing is witty and I was laughing out loud while reading. Fun trope with entertaining characters.

One of the latest tropes that I've discovered I love is main characters joining dating sites as the crux of the story, and along with trying to find love, discovering themselves. Laura is likeable, and her journey is relatable - even if at times she may be a bit frustrating as we follow along with her inner turmoil. The book was an easy read, with an effortless writing style, and though it did drag on at some parts, it was overall very enjoyable.

I loved the concept of the dating app, but there were a couple of issues with the characters that made this a difficult read for me overall.

Agreeing to be the trial for a new dating platform, Cupid, Laura meets Adam, who she is told is her perfect match. But, of course, it’s never that simple! There’s more that meets the eye to this dating site and the more that Laura gets to know Adam the more their perfect match doesn’t seem so perfect.

I feel as though this book had more potential. It was a bit slow in places and I think the ending was a little rushed. But overall it wasn’t a bad read. The characters are all so relatable, and there were definitely moments that made me laugh. Laura is someone I definitely identify with as well as Jamie. Both women are so completely different despite being raised together and their differences make me like them more. I feel in love with Whit and I would definitely love to read Jamie and Whits story.

A single woman with several failed relationships signs up for a revolutionary dating service called Cupid that promises to find her ideal match.

Laura Morrison finds her job under threat and clicks on an email for said dating service so she can trial it and write an article for the magazine she works on. It sounds less than plausible, especially when the number crunchers coincidentally find her so-called ideal match whilst she's visiting Cupid's office.

Adam, the guy she meets, is quite sweet but Laura gets quickly bored with him and only sticks around because of the contract she's signed with Cupid. She is more interested in Cass, who crunches the numbers for Cupid, but he comes over as unreliable.

Family issues don't help either - Laura's parents are constantly bickering and her sister Jamie is prickly and hard to please. Laura also fails to get on with Adam's parents.

This book didn't live up to expectations, sadly. For me, good romcoms are easy to read, humorous, and with characters that feel relatable. I didn't get into this story at all and the humour grated on me.

It feels quite obvious that Laura won't end up with Adam, however nice he is. I wasn't invested in any of the characters apart from Adam, Lil (Laura's friend), and Whit (brother-in-law).

I gave up just over halfway through and fast-forwarded to the end. That was a shame as the author, Emma Hughes, has put a lot of time and effort into the book. Just not for me, I guess.

I found myself getting quite frustrated with the narrative of this book whilst reading it. I honestly just didn't like any of the characters, at all. I also found the overall plot line to be somewhat aimless, and didn't really feel like I had gotten anything out of the book by the end. Overall a somewhat disappointing read. I would not recommend this one, sorry!

No Such Thing As Perfect is a hilarious and easy read which is perfect for reading while having a nice soak in the bath. It's heartwarming and full of everything you want in a room com novel, including a dog you will just utterly adore.

An enjoyable read and a gorgeous doggo in it too. It is funny, and fun and really easy to read. It is romantic and enjoyable. If you line romcom books I recommend this.
