Faith and Danny were in love believing they would be together forever, until they weren't. Almost two decades later circumstances bring them back together. Can time and space heal old hurts, recriminations and personal dramas? They have a lot to work through, all the while battling an illness that is devastating the Miller cattle. Though not my favourite book in the series, I still enjoyed it overall.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy as I loved it and wanted to help support a favorite author.

First thing about this book that as it is a part of a series of the Miller siblings of Morgan Valley, it can be read as a stand-alone. That being said, I would highly recommend reading the series especially if you adore cowboys finding their true love. This book, along with the series, is very well written. The plot flows beautifully to the point that I felt like I was right there with them. I loved that prior characters also made multiple appearances so I was able to revisit "old friends".

This tale of a second chance with a first love that did not disappoint. I heart broke for these two. I loved how the author kept the lines of communication open but just enough so the characters came across as more mature (since they were both 34) and not childish.

This book is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into a character's thoughts during a scene, really helps me to connect with them better. I can really identify and enjoy the story so much better that way.

This is a sexy read with a small scene between the two main characters. Also I applaud the author of introducing to a small degree Faith's brother's love of someone that may offend some. BUT she did it in a way that they only danced and embraced. That being said I would highly recommend this wonderful story to anyone OVER the age of 18.

I really enjoyed Danny and Faith’s story. I hope we can read about them meeting up with Marcus in the future.

Sweet Talking Rancher is the latest in The Millers of Morgan Valley series by Kate Pearce. I was on pins and needles waiting for this story and while I enjoyed revisiting with the past characters, the emotional toll on what both Danny's and Faith's parents did to them weighed heavy in my mind and I found it a bit depressing and sad. Personally, I was not in the right mindset for this book.

Even though this one hit me a bit too hard, I am looking forward to the next story.

This is a second chance story that has been long in coming. Kate writes about the heart and this shows that Danny Miller has been stuck, really not moving on since the disaster that struck his romance at the tender age of seventeen. He finally get the opportunity for he and Faith McDonald to get closure over what happened 17 years ago. I found it heart felt and real. It's not a dramatic story but one that touches your heart strings and makes you believe in healing.

When these two were young and in love they ran off to Las Vegas to get married. They quickly found out they needed parental permission to marry at 17 even in Vegas. Then disaster struck and their parents had to come and get involved. That ended up shutting Danny out and sent home without being able to even talk to Faith. Faith never came home and they never talked to each other. Danny just kinda got stuck and never really moved on to make goals in his live beyond getting a degree to help with the family ranch. Faith went on to college and started a Veterinary Clinic in Humboldt, got married and divorced. When her Dad decided to retire she came home to take his place in Morgan Valley with her brother Dave. When the Millers have two calves get sick with suspected Scours Faith & Danny find themselves working together to get the potential epidemic under control. Through their time together they finally manage to hash out what happened 17 years ago. Faith comes to see how Danny is a smart, loyal, patient and kind man to rely on. Danny finds his heart has never let go of Faith and they make a good team together.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sweet Talking Rancher by Kate Pearce is another in the continuing saga of the Miller brothers. This time we are focusing in Danny, an attractive 35ish guy who still lives on the family ranch with his father. Jeff has had a heart attack and is subdued in many ways. This story starts 17 years earlier in Las Vegas where Danny and his girlfriend, Faith, have run to get married. She's pregnant and they are in love and can't wait to be a family. She goes into early labor and Danny calls her parents. They summarily kick him out of the hospital, never to see his son or be by Faith's side as a turn of events puts her life in jeopardy. Faith never returns to Morgan Valley is gets in touch with Danny again. Rumors abound and it is Danny's side they all take, firmly believing Faith had done him wrong. Now Faith has returned to partner with her Brother, Dave, to take over their father's veterinary practice. Obviously she and Danny will compare stories and they learn a lot about what happened all those years ago.

Danny is a good character, too like his father some say, but strong, and talented, and taciturn. Never has much to say. Faith is a bundle of "what-ifs" hidden behind the professional exterior of an experienced veterinarian. This is a story that used to happen every day: parents who took the reins when their kids found themselves in trouble. Mistakes are made, out of love, mostly, and they have repercussions that affect those kids forever. It was a good story with a full cast of characters, most of whom readers have met in previous books. The story is a good one, and it makes the read want to reach out and slap some of the people involved. There are many side plots, involving the main characters' friends and family. This contributes to the richness of the overall story, which has taken many books to tell. If you love cowboy romance and you love soap operas this is the series for you. I recommend it.

So I really wanted to love this book. It sounded good and I usually really like this author's books. But this one was just ok for me. It was definitely on the sweet side and the premise for the story sounded good. I don't think the actual story really lived up to it. There was so much back and forth with them and honestly, I felt like they should have just been friends instead of something more. Most of the book is just going on and on about everything to do with ranching. I almost felt like this wasn't a romance book. It didn't really feel like there was any romance. And their decision for them being together almost felt like it was an afterthought. And then just abruptly end the book with them going to be together. I felt like she just decided oh, this is a romance-here! They are now together. I don't know, I was left feeling like I was completely missing something with this story. It just seemed very strange to me. I doubt I will read anymore in the series because this one was so off putting to me!

Sweet Talking Rancher is book 5 in the Millers of Morgan Valley by Kate Pearce and a new to me author.

Danny Miller and Faith McDonald were high school sweethearts but with some meddling of her parents she left him behind and moved on. Now 17 years later she returns to town to help in the veterinarian practice with her father retiring. With a mysterious sickness hitting the cattle she and Danny need to work together to discover the source but can they heal the past and move forward too? Only time I’ll tell…

This is the fifth book in The Millers of Morgan Valley Series. This was a really great book, the twist of old high school love reuniting and dealing with complicated issues was done extremely well. The characters were spot on and the pace fabulous. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

A second chance to change a childhood love affair. But will the truth come out when Faith returns to the small town she left behind her? Will Faith reveal her inner hurts when she was left alone in Vegas? Are they able to forgive not only themselves, but each other for the secrets that have been kept quiet for so long?

This is a great second chance romance!

Friends-to-lovers and second chance stories are two of my favorite romance tropes and this one hits on both of these. Danny and Faith were friends for years when they were young and in high school they became more. Something huge happened (no spoilers here) and they were no longer together.

Fast forward 17 years and Faith is returning to Morgan Valley to help run her father’s veterinary practice because he’s retiring. The town has vilified Faith for leaving Danny all those years ago so she isn’t exactly greeted with open arms. Danny was heartbroken when Faith left and never returned but he doesn’t hate her. He makes it a point to let the townspeople know that he bears no ill will toward Faith.

Wow, there is a lot going on in this story. It will help you understand things better if you’ve read earlier books in this series as a lot of the main characters from other books play at least a small part in this story. Danny and Faith find out the truth about what happened 17 years ago and it was a real shock to discover the depth of the deception created by both of their families.

Faith has become a successful veterinarian but Danny was denied the opportunity to follow his dream of going to college. He still lives at home and works on the family ranch. He and Faith have to find a way to forgive each other for what happened 17 years ago so they can move on.

While I didn’t feel the heat between Danny and Faith as much as I have between some of the couples in earlier books, I think some of that might be due to their ages now and what they went through as teens. There is an undeniable attraction between them, it’s just a bit more subtle than in some books.

Potential spoiler: One thing I thought was a bit - I can’t think of the right word so I’ll use odd even though that’s not quite right… Faith’s brother is revealed to be having a relationship with the town’s male doctor. In earlier books I don’t believe there was ever any hint that the doctor was gay or bi so this kind of came out of left field. It’s almost like it was just stuck in the book because having a gay character is the thing to do these days. Now don’t misunderstand, I love male/male romance, in fact it’s what I read 90% of the time. I’m a strong supporter of LGBT rights but this revelation about Faith’s brother and the doctor just felt like it was stuck in the story as an afterthought. I was really hoping that we might get a full story for the two guys after Faith saw them dancing together but the next time they appeared it was like it was no big deal (as it really should be) even though Faith didn’t know that her brother was gay. It just felt weird to me.

I really wished there was an epilogue for this one because it ended a bit abruptly for me. Still, all-in-all, I enjoyed it very much and hope the series continues on.

A review copy was provided by the author and publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

Kate Pearce is one of my favorite authors and I love all the Morgan Valley books, but even though I have read them all, I could have used a reminder of all the relationships. Perhaps some sort of family tree or chart at the beginning? It would be hard to read this as a stand alone.

This is a second chance tale for Danny Miller and his high school sweetheart, Faith McDonald. 17 years ago, when they were both only 17, Faith left Morgan Valley and has never returned. While Faith went on to become a veterinarian, Danny has been stuck. The town all blames Faith, but only Faith's parents and Danny's father know the truth about what happened and they kept a lot of it from their children. Now Faith has come back to take over her father's practice with her brother, Dave. The love between Faith and Danny is still there (who couldn't love Danny?), but there is still a lot of hurt, because of the lies and manipulations at the hands of Faith's parents. While Danny wants to make peace so Faith is not treated badly by the town folk, they do a lot of arguing, But strangely an outbreak of scours, a disease that is killing newborn calves, brings Danny and Faith back together. The reader also learns a lot about the really nasty hardships in ranching. I love the characters, but the arguing got really old, fast.

I read an ARC provided by NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

The story was sweet. The story was progressing really well and at a fast pace. There was conflict and some biting at each other which was actually the best part of the story. I thought the romance was lacking. They should have become friends and remained friends in my opinion. I learned more about cows and their diseases than I really care to know. I appreciate that Kate put so much thought into that part but it did not add to the romance. I hate writing this review but unfortunately the last couple of books have not worked for me.

The Ultimate Second Chance Story!!

Faith has been away for 17 years. She left when she was 17, leaving a broken-hearted Danny. We slowly get the back story - and it is a bit tough. When those in the town snub Faith for her hurt to Danny who stayed - he makes an extra effort to show they are amicable.

When someone is “the one”, it doesn’t matter how many years have passed. A touching, poignant journey for this amazing pair.

This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the 5th book in the Millers of Morgan Valley book series. I have to say I liked the characters in this book, but I did not love the romance between the two main characters in this book. I just felt that the two main characters worked better as friends. I also did not loved the fact that there was a lot of cow poo talk in this book. I did like that back story of this book. Overall, I think this was not the cowboy romance book for me...Mostly, because of the cow poo talk. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zebra) or author (Kate Pearce) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

A convoluted past and bovine illness.

Danny and Faith were 17 and pregnant, ran off to Vegas, but then things get complicated for Faith.
Danny goes home and continues on the family ranch, while Faith has a rocky path and many obstacles. She's back and now they are dealing with a bovine infection (there was a lot of time spent on ill cows).
I think their back story could have been cleared up by a phone call, some sort of communication, but well, that would be too easy. I do like Kate's writing.

This is Danny and Faith's story of finding each other again after being childhood sweethearts and finding out why their romance ended so many years ago. Add in a retiring vet and a strange cattle illness and it is a rough road to their final HEA! I read an netgalley version and freely leave my review!

Everyone in rancher Danny Miller’s life wants to know how he feels about his teenage flame returning to Morgan Valley after nearly two decades. Danny wishes he knew. After the disastrous ending of their relationship, and Faith’s choice to leave town all those years ago, Danny’s rebuilt his life without her. Faith McDonald hadn’t planned on returning home, but with her dad retiring, her help is needed at the family veterinary practice. She’s hoping that by now, folks have forgotten what happened between her and Danny even if the two of them never can. With a mystery infection decimating the Miller cattle, she and Danny soon find themselves on the same side for the first time in forever.
This is the fifth book in the series & could be read on its own but personally I love how I’ve got to know the Millers throughout the course of the series. I loved both Danny & Faith who were teenage sweethearts until they ran off to Las Vegas, Danny returned heart broken & alone. A well written second chance romance with strong characters. I loved both Danny & Faith , she’s a successful vet & he's still working on the family ranch. The chemistry between the pair sizzles but will past history scupper any relationship? There are secrets, misunderstandings & the air definitely needs to be cleared. I love the Millers & was engrossed from cover to cover.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Sweet Talking Rancher by kate Pearce
The Millers of Morgan Valley #5

Easy, comfortable, second chance romance that left a good feeling. It was nice to find out what happened between Danny and Faith and watch them rekindle the embers of a love that never truly died. They had moved on but not forgotten the person they once thought their soulmate even though half their lives had been lived since last seeing one another.

What I liked:
* Going back to Morgan Valley and finding out what was happening
* Danny: rancher, son, brother, hard worker, good friend, there for his neighbors, trustworthy, warm, caring, interesting.
* Faith: veterinarian, daughter, sister, divorced, focused, professional, caring, there for friends & Family, dedicated to her profession, trust issues.
* Dave: Faith’s protective brother, veterinarian, lighter-hearted, in a relationship
* Danny’s family: catching up with them and seeing the dynamics.
* Catching up with the various people from previous books and thinking about what will happen next in the series and who might find their HEA.
* Learning something new – about scours disease in cattle and its impact on animal and human
* That it was an easy read that took me away
* Wondering about what the couple will end up doing in their future.

What I didn’t like:
* The way choices the parents of Danny & Faith made in the past
* Danny’s father…though he is growing on me, maybe?
* Brandon & Callie: the ex-husband and one-time-friend of Faith
* The small-mindedness of the community
* The dying of the cows

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – this is my honest review.

At 17 Danny Miller and Faith MacDonald were young, in lover an sure they'd be together forever. But 17 is very young and things don't always go as planned. When Faith disappeared from Morgan Valley, Danny threw himself into his work on the family ranch. He left for a while to get his degree, but he's back and trying to find his place again since his dad passed the ranch to his older brother. Unsure of what comes next, he's just trying to make it through each day. To add to his confusion, he discovers Faith is coming back to Morgan Valley.

After 17 year away, Faith is returning tot the home she left so abruptly. She plans to help her brother as he takes over their father's vet business; once he's settled in she'll be gone again. She thought she was prepared, but seeing Danny for the first time just threw her thoughts into chaos. When a deadly disease starts killing cattle in the valley, Danny and Faith are forced to work together to end to outbreak. Time and proximity prove that the old feelings they thought dead just may not be.

While I've been a fan of the Morgan Valley stories since I read Chase's story in The Reluctant Rancher, but I found this installment of the series a bit disappointing. I was sympathetic to Danny's feelings and could identify with his struggles to find his place in the family and in the Valley. However, Faith's constant push and pull with Danny, her focus on the past and her constant indecisiveness was frustrating to me and continually led the story backwards instead of forwards. I still look forward to the next installment of the series, Evan's story, and hope that some Danny's unresolved questions are answered there.
