Agatha “Aggie” Robard, is getting older and her son and daughter-in-law have convinced her to move into an assisted-living facility. She agrees, but doesn't give up her car, her independence, or her job running the family business. While the rest of the family is away on vacation, Aggie convinces Blythe to take her on a road trip. The plan is to head to Florida to meet up with an old school friend, who was also her boyfriend to make amends. She also wants to visit old friends along the way. Blythe reluctantly agrees and they set off on their secret adventure. When they finally arrive in Florida, Aggie meets up with her old flame, Donovan Bailey. They talk things out and forgive one another, setting up a path to rekindle their old romance. That is until Aggie falls dancing on the beach and needs surgery. Blythe has to tell her dad what happened. He immediately wants her to return home to Boston so she can be taken care of, but Aggie has other ideas.

This is the 4th book in the Seashell Cottage series, but each book can be read as a standalone, it is the setting that they have in common. I loved Aggie, and want to be her. She is a great character, smart, independent, loving, and more. To have the courage to do what she did and end up having a second chance romance is awesome, however, that is not all there is to this story. Donovan has his own issues, with health problems that he is living with. Blythe is getting over a relationship that was not healthy, and Donovan has a carer who is perfect for Blythe, but there are roadblocks in the way. This story flows naturally, with lots of great characters, and some reconciliation. My one issue was the accident that her father gets in and the use of loss of memory as a vehicle to move the story forward, but it is short lived. I think this story ended perfectly, but I will not say how it plays out, you will have to read this one to find out.

A Road Trip to Remember is a story of a road trip that Aggie and her granddaughter Blythe take before she moves to an assisted living facility. It's about family, finding out what might have been and having fun along the way. This book will make you laugh and also shed a few tears along the way. I love the relationship Aggie has with her granddaughter and you will too!!!

Unfortunately, this book read rather flat and rather amateurish, like a first draft an editor hadn't yet seen. It's feel-good all right, but also a tad too saccharine and filled with details and events that aren't moving the plot forward in any way. Sadly, it got tedious for me and I didn't enjoy it

This is a nice light book perfect for a summer read. This begins with a granddaughter and Grandma going on a road trip to begin to live again. Blythe and Aggie have some fun adventures and Aggie rekindles a love from her past. A heartwarming story about family, about healing past wounds, and about finding happiness for now and for the future. Aggie and her granddaughter Blythe embark on a road trip just as Blythe is about to graduate from Cornell, at a crossroads about where life will take her. Aggie is in her 70’s, and plans a reunion with her first love, hoping for forgiveness and reconnection. I really enjoyed the warmth and love between Aggie and Blythe, genuine feelings and respect are evident between these two women. There is a lot of healing in this book, both physical and emotional, as relationships grow and misunderstandings forgiven. Really enjoyed the relationship between Blythe and Aggie as well as how the relationships develop among the other characters.

This is my first book by this author and it was enjoyable.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the ARC for the honest review.

The story is a sweet reminder that life goes by quickly and that you shouldn't let life's enjoyable moments to their fullest potential and not to let opportunities pass you by. It is also a reminder not to live in the past or for the future, but rather in the present while keeping an eye on the future and not forgetting the past. I always enjoy my "visits" to Seashell Cottage and this story is no exception! Wonderful characters that are well fleshed out and a delightfully entertaining plot that has you both entertained and introspective! I can't wait to read what happens next at Seashell Cottage!

What another heartwarming and cheerful book from one of my favorite authors! They seems to all be just as good as the last!

This book had unexpectedly quirky characters with a somewhat twisted plot all put together in pages that were just plain fun to read. Aggie Robard agrees to live in an assisted living facility, but before she gives up her freedom, she talks her granddaughter Blythe into a road trip to Florida. Headed for fun in the sun, the two also discover new relationships, Aggie with an old flame named Donovan and Blythe with Donovan’s grandson Logan. With the responsibility of running the family’s chain of hardware stores, Aggie is not prepared for falling in love or falling and breaking her leg. Nonetheless, she is a feisty old woman who has a plan for the business that she built and it includes Blythe taking over. Blythe’s father Brad is in a serious car accident and I was relieved to finally see that stepmother Constance ultimately cared for someone other than herself and money. Although there were a lot of platitudes and moments of “I knew that was going to happen”, getting to the end of the book was actually a lot of fun. The descriptions of the escapades of Aggie and her grit to have her own way about her business and her life were realistic and admirable. I enjoyed the characters and the story and was a little sad for this road trip to end. Fans of light-hearted romance with some family drama mixed in will enjoy this book.

This is one of those feel good books that you want to have on hand to loan out or even reread yourself in years to come! Judith Keim is a magical weaver of the written word that keeps you wanting to turn the page.
Agatha helps her husband create a dynasty for their family to run in the years to come, but she realizes that she needs to stop and smell the roses . Her granddaughter Blythe is favored to one day take her place, but she decides that she wants her to be able to see the world as not just something she has to work and work . So, she is going on a road trip adventure without Blythes dads approval because he is a cautious type of man.

The madcap adventures are about to begin and Agatha does get herself into trouble!

This is definitely a keeper of a book.
I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This was a great addition to to Seashell Cottage books, and like all of the others it is a standalone novel. A book with second chances at a love that was once lost, and also a new love are at the center of the story. It is a “clean” romance, which I appreciate - I don’t feel the need to read all of the details that are included in “steamy” romances romances.

Aggie and her Granddaughter Blythe take a road trip to Florida on Spring Break, and along the way Blythe takes a journey down Memory Lane, visiting people important to her from her past. Blythe gets to know more about her Grandmother’s past, and meets a love from Aggie’s past, as well.

Some unfortunate circumstances lead to Blythe taking the helm at the family business a little earlier than originally planned, and Blythe needs to make some choices on what direction she wants her life to go.

A Roadtrip to Remember is the fourth book in Judith Keim’s Seashell Cottage series. This story finds Aggie Robard soon after her only son, Brad, and difficult daughter-in-law, Constance, have convinced Aggie to sell her large home in Denham, MA, and get a condo at the New Life Assisted Living Center. Aggie may have been willing to go along with downsizing but she is no where near not living her life however she chooses, including maintaining and managing majority interest in the family business, Robard Company which oversees the Robard Hardware Stores that she and her late husband, Arnold, had created. With Brad and his second family soon leaving on a two week Hawaiian vacation, Aggie seeks out her granddaughter, Blythe to accompany her on a special road trip to Florida with a week stay at Seashell Cottage.

Blythe cannot deny her beloved Gran anything, so agrees to drive her Gran’s Mercedes convertible down the coast with a stop in Jersey, Maryland, and Jacksonville, FL, before heading across state to Seashell Cottage, a bit north of Tampa Bay. At each stop along the way, Aggie is visiting old friends from college. She feels she may have been remiss in letting friendships stray and wants to make amends, especially to her first love, Donovan Bailey. His family and misunderstandings pulled them apart. While she has no regrets for having married another, Aggie wants to make sure there are no regrets going forward.

In an idyllic few days Aggie feels rejuvenated and ready to take on the world. That is until a twisting fall while dancing on the beach leaves her with a broken femur. Now Aggie and Blythe’s road trip would become known to Brad and Constance and things could become even more difficult with this pair. As both Aggie and Blythe navigate the fallout from the trip they have even greater challenges as a family to overcome.

This is a well plotted story with richly drawn characters. Ms. Keim has taken a close look at how elders in our society may be shortchanged their freedom and direction and how the strength and perseverance of one such person enables a better future for the whole family. This well written book was a pleasure to read and I do recommend it!

I loved this book! It was a light fun read. I could see my mom and my daughter taking off on a trip together. I liked how close the grandma and granddaughter were. Great beach read.

When Aggie, an older woman of means, decides to go on a road trip, she ropes her granddaughter Blythe into going with her. Aggies son and his grasping wife have somewhat forced Aggie into a senior living facility and bumped Blythe from a family vacation to Hawaii.
Aggie tells Blythe that she has decided she wants to see her college friends after a planned reunion fell through.
She has an ulterior that she doesn’t disclose-she want to find Donovan, her first love and the man she though she would marry at one time in her life. So off they go.....
This is a sweet story about two people who are at different parts in their lives but both are at crossroads. Aggie is looking for closure from old friends who might not be around much longer and especially from the man who deeply hurt her so many years before. Blythe has just ended a bad relationship, is getting ready to graduate from Cornell, and needs to decide if going into the family business is really what she wants.
As is life, some of the reunions are poignant and some are joyous. When they finally reconnect with Donovan, his young companion, a friend of his adopted son, seems to have a connection with Blythe. All is well in their lives until Aggie has a fall and the good times end.Once everyone is back home including Donovan and Logan who come with them, another serious accident changes everyone’s future plans.
I really enjoyed this book. It has very little spice but it tells a nice story about a family going through changes and discovering things about themselves both good and bad. There is enough romantic tension to make it interesting and even a sort of villain you can dislike. Apparently there are earlier books in the series and I will have to search them out after this enjoyable read.

I grabbed this book when I saw it available to review. The author is an enjoyable storyteller.

It starts out with a road trip with Grandma Aggie and Blythe, sneaking away on a road trip.

The characters were well written and I cared about them.

I didn't see a plot twist but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

A great way to spend an afternoon with a not so fluffy book that will leave the reader with warm fuzzy feelings and a smile.

Thank you to Netgalley for the complimentary ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Seventy-year-old Aggie and her granddaughter Blythe, road trip from Boston to Seashell Cottage in Florida, during spring break is filled with family, friendship (Aggie plans to stop along the way to say goodbye to her college friends), reunions (with her College flame, Donovan) lessons, that life is more than work and love.
This novel is so much more than the plot and characters. It is a life lesson in words.
Five worthy stars.

Aggie let her son and daughter-in-law talk her into selling her house and moving into New Life Assisted-Living Community. Her son, daughter-in-law, and their two sons were going on vacation for two weeks, but they were leaving her granddaughter, Blythe at home. Aggie talked Blythe into driving her to Florida while they were gone. Aggie wanted to see the few friends she had since college that were still here and meet again the first man she ever loved, Donovan. Blythe and Aggie set out on their road trip to remember and what a trip it was for the two of them. They saw the people Aggie wanted to see and when they reached Florida and Seashell Cottage, Aggie announced that Donovan was moving in, and they were sharing her room. There is a lot of things happening in the book, but the spunk Aggie has, and the determination sets the tone for the book. She isn't controlling, but she has made decisions that affect her business and her family. Once everything is revealed, it sounds like it is the best thing for everyone but most importantly for Aggie, because she has a few dances left in her. It was nice seeing three generations of family, living life the way they want, finding a way to make changes that affected them all, but it turns out wonderful for them all. They all fell in love with the Seashell Cottage, Gavin's Restaurant, and Salty Key Inn which has been written about in other books.

This book had the potential to be really good, but didn’t quite measure up. The premise was good—Gran takes conservative granddaughter on a road trip of remembrance to visit Gran’s college friends and reunite with an old boyfriend. The granddaughter, Blythe, has just broken up with a controlling boyfriend and needs to loosen up a little. Gran sees this trip as a way to do that. Only we don’t really see Blythe going that way. Blythe sees Gran coming out of her daughter-in-law imposed old age shell to reinstate her independence, but doesn’t really step up and follow Gran’s example. As the story progresses, and other relationships develop and grow, we continue to see Blythe doing what is expected of her (only now it’s what Gran wants instead of what her step-mother wants). There were some good developments in the plot, but I never really felt like there was much conflict built so the resolution wasn’t as satisfying. All the characters had the same voice, It had a lot of potential, but was just kind of a blah book that could have been so much better. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. This is my freely given, honest review.
