Her Pleasure is book six in the multicultural fiction Mistress series by Niobia Bryant. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but this one reads well as a standalone.

Jaime Pine knows what it feels like to be betrayed. She never thought that the shoe would be on the other foot.

If Niobia Bryant set out to shock her readers, she succeeded. These characters are scandalous, but well-developed and vibrantly depicted. The plot is compelling and twists upon itself in unexpected ways. There is some explicit content, but it’s appropriate for the storyline. Her Pleasure is a story you won’t soon forget. I truly enjoyed this novel. I give it 4 out of 5 enthusiastic stars (deducted one star for over dramatic character behavior) and recommend it to all readers of dramatic adult fiction.

My thanks to Kensington Books, Dafina, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Although I didn't realize this book was part of a series when I requested it, it reads as a standalone. This book was hot and exciting . I was invested in the characters from beginning to end. There were surprises and It didn't go the way i thought it would have gone. The author did such a great job with the characters in this story, I am going to go back and make sure I get caught up with the rest of the series.

I received a copy of the book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Her pleasure was a drama filled love triangle between Jamie, Luc and Graham. I am not new to the writing style of Niobia so I was ready to dive in. She did a good job. it had steamy scenes and vulnerable moments. character development was good too. But it became hard for me to look past some of the crazy antics in this book. the drama and the constant seesaw behavior became unbearable for me. if you are looking for drama filled book with scandals and steam sexy times, this is it

The end of the series has come to an end. Her Pleasure focuses on Jaime and her life after the demise of her first marriage. Jaime has met Luc (who appears to be sexy, wealthy, and a gentleman). In Her Pleasure, Jaime's past meets her present and future. Will her actions cause her to crumble her future? Find out this and more in the last book of the series.

Her Pleasure by Niobia Bryant was a great read. I featured it as Book of the Day on all my social media platforms and included it in my monthly roundup of new releases for my Black Fiction Addiction blog.

Her Pleasure follows the love triangle between Jamie, Luc, and Graham. A trip to Grenada, an old fling, an oops baby, this book had it all. It was literally one drama scene after another.

This was my first time reading this authors work and I like her writing style. The scandal, the steamy sex scenes, and the character’s raw emotions.. She did a good job. However, Jamie was not my favorite character. I couldn’t get past some of the antics and the constant back and forth with the two male characters. The author did such a great job with her Character development and storyline that I had to continue read to see how it ended. Graham and Loc really seemed like decent men. They were tangled in Jamie’s web, something serious.

The story is an easy read. At times I did get lost on which character was speaking and it ended really quickly. Lots of curveballs. That is why I am giving the rating of three stars.

If you are looking for a good book with twists, scandals, and hot scenes- this is it. The book does include miscarriage.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was full of drama, drama and more drama and it's name is Jamie! Being that this is part of a series, the author did a great job of giving backstory to bring those of us unfamiliar with the characters up to speed. At times the plot felt jumbled and Jamie irked my nerves but the heat from those steamy scenes was enough to keep me reading. This is a perfect beach or vacation read that I zoomed through as it kept my attention. I would definitely read more from Niobia Bryant.

Many thanks to Kensington, the author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Based on the synopsis, I thought the story would have involved more of the friend that betrayed Jamie and the other girls, but it honestly didn't come into play at all. Things felt rushed to me, which made the storyline not flow as well as it could, but I did enjoy the characters. Both Luc and Graham sound like some pretty fine men! Although things were muddled for a while, partly because of Jamie, I think the story ended in a good place. I appreciated the character developments and the author did a good job providing foundational backgrounds to help the story along.

Thank you for Kensington Books for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.

As much as I wanted to like this :story, too many unnecessary “issues” bought my high of enjoyment down to a low point. I had no problem with the mess that Jaime created and found herself in. Its just as a reader, I’m exhausted of coming across books where we can’t seem to have truly messy or happy stories especially with Black characters. There is always some past trauma. Some terrible present.

This book was 🥵 🔥! It is the first book I read like this and it had me like 🙊90% of the time! The writing style was great and when I say the author used detail I mean it! Despite being graphic it was very real and I can appreciate that.

The story line was well written and Jaime’s ( the main character) development was good. The family and friends dynamics were well executed throughout the story. I was not expecting it to end the way it did but I was so invested in the characters I am glad it ended that way (but boy did Jaime really make things complicated when there was no need to).

This book was a mess, but I kind of expected it would be from the blurb. Part of me really loved the execution of the really soapy tropes, even if they leaned heavily into some typical hard nopes, like accidental pregnancy and infidelity. While I did feel I was missing some of the greater nuance by jumping into a later book in the series, I still enjoyed it overall. The characters aren’t ones you’re always going to like, but you understand them and they feel believable in the soap opera/dramatic context of the narrative.
I did have beef with the ending, though, and the way the “baby” plotline was resolved to make way for Jaime making her choice. It just felt cavalier, like she couldn’t have a partner and a baby, especially if the man she chose wasn’t the bio father. (CW: miscarriage)
I more or less enjoyed this, but found the way it used a sensitive issue to quickly resolve a plot thread to be very insensitive, especially given the overall tone of the book.

Lots of drama- LOTS of drama- and a plot that just steamrolls ahead. I'd not read any of the preceding books so I missed nuance (well, probably more than nuance). That doesn't mean I wasn't entertained because I was but I know I didn't appreciate it the way fans of the series would. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I am a lover of Niobia Byrant's writing. I have read several of her series but this is my first read into The Mistress series so the back and forth of previous books were helpful for me. I was very interested in the main character story, Jaime, especially after the background of her journey to this point, but boy oh boy, I did not expect this.

Who doesn't love a good love triangle and I just knew therw would be obstacles from the past. I wanted to have happiness and thought she was on her way with her new billionaire boo, but when she mention her on indiscretion from her past marriage I knew we were facing some chaos. How convenient for that past to be standing in the front of Jaime in the paradise her boo sent her to, and just like all temptation he was to irresistible to resist.

Graham Walker was the one mistake Jaime made in her previous marriage, but from thia read, I got the jest that Jaime developed strong feeling for her fling which lead her on an emotional rollercoaster. Jaime has changed his life for the better, but reuniting with Jaime is temptation at its finest. The saying what is done is the dark will come to the light is most certainly displayed in this story and the hurt Jaime experienced in the past she turned and returned ito someone else. Now a baby sits in the middle with only one definite parent and that's Jaime and the rollercoaster throws punches that no one is truly preparef for. I will not give too much away.

In the end, hard truths are told and many suffered from selfish acts. I was happy for the closured shown in different characters lives and was happy that all the main book characters found happiness. All in all this was a good read and I was locked in from the first page. Ms. Byrant did not disappoint. Now I want to read the books that lead to this one and would love to see what happens in the lives of the other book characters.

Thank you Kensington, Dafina, and Netgally for this ARC. This is my most humble and honest review of this read. Good job Ms. Byrant.

In the past I’ve been of the opinion that there’s never too much of well crafted characters, the more of their journey, the better…book 6 of the mistress series tested this theory. I loved reading about the next phase of Jamie and Graham’s story when I approached the characters as though they were new…however, the continuous references to the past frustrated me because most I simply couldn’t remember this many books later. I was excited that Jessa Bell didn’t have a role in this storyline, and I’m intrigued if Bryant will continue with exploring the minor characters independently - she definitely set this up to be possible with this ending. Overall, her books usually read like a movie in my head, this one didn’t meet that expectation in some areas - it’d be too wordy or descriptive and I simply failed to conjure the image I believe she wanted. 4 stars but definitely my least favorite in the series to date.
