Wet and Reckless is a quick, fun story to read with lots of sass and steam. We have shenanigans and a secret in a small town romance! A cop, West, and aspiring singer Roxy, running from trouble, meet as she is hitchhiking during a rainstorm. We have a romance or a country song in the making. I loved the dialog and the romance. I hope to get back to Bluelick, KY, soon.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ex-Navy Seal and NYPD officer, West Donovan is enjoying small town Bluelick, Kentucky slow pace when he picks up an unusual hitchhiker. Fiesty, down on her luck musician, Roxy Goodhart is on the run from a dirtbag loan shark and hoped to hide out in Bluelick. What Roxy finds is meddling townspeople, honest jobs and the super hot cop West as her neighbor.

There are a bunch of things I liked about this book!

Their chemistry! From their first meeting their chemistry is undeniable! West’s attraction to Roxy, even if he considers her completely reckless with her safety, is adorable. I love how he was always looking out for her - bandaging her foot, getting cameras installed at the bar- but they were in the way to make her life safer, not stifle her creativity. Wet and Reckless has the tropes that I love, opposites attract with a grumpy hero and sunshiney heroine and forced proximity.

The sex: Samantha Beck can write some dirty, sexy, steamy AF scenes and I loved it! There was a great balance of steam to real emotions and creative use of mirrors!

The plot: The plot moved at a great pace. There was time to get invested in West and Roxy’s relationship, see her begin to trust him and build the tension on when Roxy’s past will come back to haunt her. Not rushed but not slow.

I have not read the other books in this series but don’t think you have to to enjoy this one. If you like small town grumpy cops, fiesty heroines, steamy AF sexy times with an easy to follow plot I would definitely recommend Wet and Reckless.

Wet and Reckless is a thoroughly entertaining small-town romance with an easy-going, light storyline plenty of steam and likable characters. And I was completely engaged throughout.

Would recommend.

I loved this opposites attracts story! West is a cynical, big city cop who has moved to Bluelick to get back his humanity. Roxy is a nomadic, slightly naïve singer/songwriter who is trying to escape some bad decisions. When they meet, the attraction is palpable. When they give into their attraction, it leads to some heat inducing, toe curling scenes. And there is a dog rescue! Even loved all the secondary characters. While this is a story that is part of a series, I did not feel it necessary to have read the other books. Although I am definitely going to look for them! I’m not ready to leave Bluelick.

There is just so much to love about this book.

I definitely felt that the book focused more on West than Roxy, though she was most definitely a huge part of the story and had a really well structured and described backstory (more so than West in terms of background actually..) and the storyline itself focused on her more...but the romance and emotional journey was much more in his favour.....which I loved.

The story itself is exciting and plentiful, with a lot of additional characters you learn to love and who don’t distract from West/Roxy at all..in fact they bring so much more to this story. As book 4 of a series it’s clear which characters books have preceded this one, but you don’t have to have read them to enjoy this book (though you will want to..)

I thought the bedroom scenes were really well written. All I can say is I want to have a conversation with my husband about apologies.....

I highly recommend this book. A small town romance with hot characters, scintillating romance and an exhilarating storyline. You’ll definitely laugh and gasp and you may very well shed a tear too.

Definitely add this one to your tbr list! Wet and Reckless is a really nice, happy book with a little angst and lots of steamy hotness thrown in for good measure! It’s definitely a stand alone even though its part of a series. Knowing the background on some of the other major characters is a bonus but not a necessity. I sure hope there are going to be more books in the Private Pleasures series coming out soon!

Thank goodness we have another book by Samanthe! It’s been a long time coming and so worth the wait! These two are so hot for each other it’s fun to watch then burn. I loved revisiting this town and hope we get more stories. 5+ starts from me!!

When West Donovan finds Roxy trying to hitchhike during a rainstorm and then suddenly passing out in his arms he knows she is going to be trouble for him. And when she rents the apartment below his, resisting her becomes that much more difficult.
Roxy is in Bluelick, hoping to meet her last known living relative and also keep a low profile especially from the law, and sharing a building with an officer of law is not inline with her plans and wanting to be reckless with him shouldn’t sound so tempting.
Wet and reckless was an enjoyable read with a well written plot and some wonderful characters. Roxy as a free spirited musician is a complete opposite of West, a straight laced cop, and shouldn’t make sense together, were not just perfect, they had some intense chemistry together.
I found wet and reckless to be a fun read and would happily recommend.

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I haven't read any of the others but I wasn't confused.

Roxy is spunky but incredibly naive and too headstrong to ask for help. She would have saved herself a lot of trouble if she just confided in someone. West didn't leave much of an impression on me, yes he and Roxy had chemistry but whether they would last long term I'm not sure. I think they are just too different.

I received an advanced reader's copy of Wet and Reckless by Samanthe Beck from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first novel by Samanthe Beck that I had read, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a fantastic new author - and series - to follow! Now, I just need download the previous books in this series and devour those as well. [I know....such a tragedy....]

Overall, I felt this was an engaging romance novel and I enjoyed it. The plot was well-crafted and the characters were quite well-written. They were flawed (as people are), but had layers and their motivations were pretty clear. Each character had his or her own distinct personality, too, which is nice for the tertiary characters.

I especially liked the dynamic between our protagonists - musician and free spirit, Roxy Goodhart, and her love interest, more straight laced Officer West Donovan. They were the epitome of opposites attract and they worked beautifully together. And because this was a romance, the steamy scenes were definitely hot!

This novel had everything - an interesting plot, love, characters you like and connect with, characters you don’t like and want to see brought down, action, conflict, humor, and more!

All in all, Wet and Reckless by Samanthe Beck was a really fun read and I would recommend it for any romance fan.
