If you enjoy crime thrillers or police procedurals, make sure you don’t miss this fascinating book and series. Even though this is the fourteenth book featuring Kim Stone, I eagerly await any sequels that are still to come! One thing that always stands out for me with these books is that, once you’ve read the Prologue, you’re immediately taken straight into the action and reconnecting with Kim Stone and her team seems to somehow just happen, no effort required. Having said that, each book builds on the previous one in terms of character development but I believe each one will still work well as a standalone – though I warn you that reading one will probably tempt you to read the others, too!

A really different aspect to Kim’s arch nemesis, investigative reporter Tracy Frost, is developed in this book as she shows a new side to her character as she endeavours to ensure a victim of domestic abuse has the perpetrator brought to justice. Meanwhile, Kim and her team work to discover the connections between a series of horrendous murders in which the victims are subjected to different forms of torture. With other police officers keeping secrets, families disappearing and others unwilling to talk, this is a very dark and twisted tale. It is a story which kept me guessing and there’s even an added, major surprise in the ending – I can’t wait to read more about that in future books!

The team work, relationships between them and the way they work to their strengths are all key to the detective work in this story. It has a variety of differently tortured victims and is definitely not for the squeamish but it is an intriguing crime thriller, written in the author’s superb inimitable manner, sharing information without glorifying the macabre nature of the crime scenes. It is a brilliant addition to the series, another page turner that I didn’t want to put down and one that left me eager to read more in the series in future. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

It is unbelievable that this is the fourteenth book in the series featuring Detective Kim Stone and her team and is one of the best. There are two threads running through the book. Kim is not happy that Tracy Frost, a journalist who Kim dislikes, is given permission to spend a day with them. They visit the sister of a victim who was killed by her violent husband. She is upset that he is up for a retrial, protesting his innocence and the public seem to believe him. Frost decides to help the family and she is determined to ensure he faces his justice despite the danger she finds herself in. Kim and her team are called out when the badly tortured body of a man is found which sickens them all. When Kim seeks his family’s help she finds his wife and children have simply disappeared without trace. The team are then pushed to their limits to find the killer as other murders of tortured victims are discovered. This is a dark and intense read which will keep you guessing right until the end. A highly recommended series of books.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

WOW 🤩 Like all the books in this series, I was gripped from the very first page to the last ! Angela Marsons is such a talented author who, with each book in this series creates a new and original storyline which is extremely rare for series that have alot of books in them. The main characters personalities grow with each book and are kept interesting and fresh . I really can’t speak highly enough of this author and this series!! Pure excellence!!

Another brilliant book I had the privilege of reading. Angela Marsons is a very very talented author that keeps a reader entertained until the end, without underestimating their intelligence. This book was so well written that I finished it in one day, which is a big accomplishment in my life these days. Highly recommended.

You know when an author is something special when you get just as excited about the 14th book in the series coming out as you did with the 2nd! Angela Marsons has this magic way of keeping things just as fresh and innovative as the first book which is a rare thing to find.

I literally squealed when sent this ARC, the Kim Stone series is my go to series to recommend to anyone and everyone. I had so many ARCs on my TBR pile before this one but there was no way I could wait, Twisted Lies went straight to the top!

I think the huge success in this series falls to the truly unforgettable DI Kim Stone and her amazing team who you manage to fall in love with a little bit more with every book.

In the 14th book of the series (how is it book 14 already?) We see DI Kim Stone and her partner Bryant investigating a particularly gruesome murder parallel to another case involving the ever present nemesis of Kim's, reporter/journalist Tracey Frost. *NO SPOILERS*

One of my favourite things about this series is the growth of the whole team, not only as a police team but as individuals. In this story you'll see more focus on Stacey, with Kim pushing her towards a promotion that Stacey doesn't feel deserving of.

As expected this installment starts at 100mph, there is never a moment where you can stop and take a breather (why would you want to?) It is 100% unputdownable!

Once again Angela Marsons has managed to weave a jam packed action story with tension, heart pounding suspense, unexpected outcomes and pure grit.

I honestly couldn't recommend this series enough. Roll on Book 15!

The biggest thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

One Twisted Read!

Twisted Lies is a dark and disturbing police procedural featuring some of my favorite characters. This is another solid addition to the series. It can be read as a standalone.

There are two central mysteries: One involving an abusive husband playing the victim, and the other centered around a murderer who uses ancient torture methods to kill his victims.

Both mysteries involve DI Kim Stone and her team in different ways. The team is tasked with investigating the mysterious torture murders. At the same time, Kim has been told to play nice with her arch-nemesis, journalist Tracey Frost, and invite her along for a crime-related interview. Of course, things don’t go as planned, and Frost finds herself immersed in the investigation, once again pushing Kim’s boundaries.

The characters are usually what keeps me flipping the pages in this series, but this time around, I was equally intrigued by the mysteries. It took me quite some time to figure out the mystery behind the killings, and it took me an even longer time to identify the murderer (who was right in front of my face). At one point, I thought I had it all figured out, but I should have known that Angela Marsons would never create such a basic plot. There was a great twist that I didn’t see coming! The second mystery involving the abusive husband also threw me for a loop. Warning: There is a lot of blood and gore, more than usual in this series. This installment is not for the faint of heart.

The characters in this series are some of my favorites. I feel like they grow in each installment. One of the elements of development in Twisted Lies involves Kim and Frost. I enjoyed their banter, especially during their scenes with Barney . The rest of the team is flourishing: Stacey is finally happy, but she is waffling about her future career path. There was very little of Bryant and Penn, which made me sad. I feel like I know these characters personally, and I have high expectations for them. In the next book, I would like to see more Barney, Penn, and Bryant, please!

The ending sets us up for the plot of book #15, and I can’t wait!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review.

Twisted Lies by Angela Marsons might’ve been one of my favourite Kim Stone instalments yet! As usual our storyline is as gruesome as ever. I don’t know where Ms. Marsons comes up with her macabre ideas but god do I love them!
Our story takes us from one seriously disturbing crime scene to another, with the team scratching their heads at the total disregard for the life taken. Once the family of the first victim has been contacted and they’ve disappeared without a trace the team is left wondering just what they are dealing with.
The main plot line is awesome but I’m also a huge fan of Tracy Frost, the journalist, and I love the inclusion of her in this books side story.
I don’t want to give anything away so a huge thank you to the Publisher, Netgalley and Angela Marsons for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Twisted Lies is a police procedural full of tension, suspense and grizzly murders.

Having read every book in this series so far I was eager to read this 14th release in the Kim Stone Detective Series by Anglea Marsons. I was lucky enough to get a copy in exchange for a review from Netgalley, however I enjoyed it that much that I also bought an audible version of the book.

Detective Kim Stone leads the hunt for the killer of a man found murdered in an industrial estate, in the most brutal of manners (it's not extremely graphic but the words paint the picture), working alongside members of her fantastic team Bryant, Stacey and Penn.

As more murders are uncovered and the manner of death gets worse, the race is onto find the killer before anybody else suffers the same fate.

The case also features local reporter Tracey quite heavily as she becomes involved in her own investigations into the death of a woman murdered by her husband. This brings about extra work and insight for Kim and her team and I enjoyed the way it all came together.

I love the personalities of the main characters and the interactions between them. The banter between the team is brilliantly witty and the relationships between them are well developed. Kim is a brilliant detective, but she is also quite messed up from an awful childhood. She doesn't do well with personal relationships and can come across as blunt, narky and uncaring, however we know from the rest of the series that the caring side does very much exist. It is shown in this book through the way she is encourages Stacey towards taking her sergeants exams as she can she the potential of the youngest recruit.

I really enjoy following their stories as much as the 'main' story of the book.

You'd think by the 14th book in a series that it would become a bit stale, however Angela Marsons always manages to nail it with bigger and better stories each time. I can't wait for book 15!

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

This is the first Detective Kim Stone book I have ever read. And reading this book has given me a complete sensation of having watched a very chilling and fast- paced, police procedural movie. I guess this statement says what kind of writer is the author , Angela Marsons.

In Death series by J.D.Robb is my most favorite book series and I like it particularly for the different characterizations and the growth each character has throughout the series. I got the same feeling from this book as well. All principal characters are defined and we get a feeling that they all work as a team. It just clearly leaps out the page.

The way the author has narrated the story also is brilliant. The thrilling element is spot on, mystery was sufficiently intruding and the pacing was tight. This story has been based on the Witness Protection Program as a backdrop and I found it more fascinating to read. Overall I very much enjoyed the book and am sure to check out the previous books in the series as well.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to get to know this author.

Another amazing installment in the Kim Stone series. With how this one started, I was a bit worried how it might end but it ended well.

I can't believe we are on Book 14 and I still can't get enough of this fascinating lead character and her team. I really enjoy unpredictable books and this one is in a league of its own!

Kim is stuck with her nemesis-local reporter Tracy Frost- for a whole day. Tracy's been promised she can follow Kim and her team wherever they go. Very soon Kim sees DCI Woodward's secret agenda. Kim's first stop is the family of Trisha Morley who was abused and murdered by her husband. NickMorley had a stellar reputation and a PR team strong enough to put a lot of pressure on the jury. The first trial ended in a hung jury and it looks likely that Nick might walk free. The police have done everything possible. There's nothing they can do at this point to prevent the injustice. But Tracy can.

Then Kim's team gets called to a murder scene and what promised to be a slow day begins a frenetic hunt for a twisted serial killer who tortures his victims in horrendous ways. When Kim has to inform the family of the first victim of what happened and immediately senses that something is off in the way the wife and her sister react to the news. The next day they seem to have vanished into the thin air and it is up to Kim's team to trace their whereabouts using good old policework. Kim does discover the connection between the first victim and the second, but is sworn to secrecy and forced to work with somebody who makes her reflect what it means to be a good police officer and sacrifice everything in order to do your job well.

Both plotlines are fascinating and full of their own twists. There was no way I could have guessed the ending! As usual there are thought-provoking themes- one of which is whether it is possible to completely disappear in our heavily-digitalised society, why someone might want to do that and what emotional cost it might have.

It was interesting to see the change in the way Tracy and Kim interact with each other- a different level of understanding and begrudging respect that is slowly built between these two strong and determined women. Kim's team is superb - Bryant, newly married (she won't let anyone forget it even for a minute) Stacey, Penn, Keats.

The book has Angela Marsons' trademark short and snappy chapters that keep you on the edge of your seat. The pace is perfect- you understand the urgency of stopping the killer (no, I didn't guess who it was) and the frustration of not being able to find or interpret the clues, the long hours and the breathless rush when the team finally get closer to solving thecase, hoping it isn't too late.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the review copy provided in exchange for an honest opinion

Wow! As a fan of the police procedural/serial killer/mystery/thriller genre I'm not sure how I've gone this long without reading an Angela Marsons book, but here we are. Twisted Lies, which is number 14 in the DI Kim Stone series, is my first one. Of course I think it would have been better for me to have read the previous volumes and been familiar with the characters, but I felt Twisted Lies also worked well as a stand-alone. I was thoroughly engaged by both of the cases covered in this book, and the characters and their relationships were very well-constructed. Everything about this book was really excellent.

Angela Marsons has a spot on my must-read authors list. I'm so looking forward to catching up on this series... I have a lot of reading to do! (YAY!) I'm so grateful to NetGalley and Bookouture for introducing me to Angela Marsons and Kim Stone, and giving me the opportunity to read and review Twisted Lies.

Angela Marsons' DI Kim Stone series and Lisa Gardner's D.D. Warren series are probably my Top 2 female detective series. Hell remove the "female", they are my Top 2 detective series. True to her fast-paced, sitting on the edge of your seat style, "Twisted Lies" will not disappoint. Angela Marsons is a master at writing thrillers. Can't wait for the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Angela Marson for a copy of "Twisted Lies" in exchange of an honest review.
