I really enjoyed this book and I think it was strong. Is it as strong as her other books I don't know.

I still love Kim Stone and think she is one of the best designed characters I have seen. Yes she has issues and yes she can be abrasive at times she is still a kick ass character.

This story I really don't feel that strongly about but the hints that were dropped I have great expectations they there will be a real kick ass story with a great story.

I am impressed as this series continues to drive me to want to read more. Angela Marsons has some of the greatest writing especially with her villains. I always get the impression that there is so much more to come.

Angela Marsons does it again!!
This had me hooked from the first Chapter.
From the shocking murders, to seeing a totally different side to Frost.
Books 12 & 13 fell a little flat for me......However this totally reignited my love of the Stone series. I felt that every chapter was a page turner and the ending left me with goosebumps. I cant wait to read the next installment

Absolutely breathtakingly brilliant! I just don't know how Angela Marston keeps the quality of her books so high, this latest one is so good. Shockingly inventive murders, fabulously realistic characters and a plot that twists like a tornado. Loved the investigation that Frost was following, great to see another side of her. This also gave some respite from the brutal murders of the main investigation. Bit of a cliffhanger at the end though!

It's not uncommon for Kim Stone to be called to the scene of a terrible crime. But this time the man murdered has been subjected to terrible, almost medieval torture. He appears to be a normal, if somewhat reserved family man. His wife's reaction to the crime is odd. What's odder is that less than a day later she and his children vanish. Then another equally gruesome murder is commited. At first there seems no link but then vital information comes to light that makes Kim realise she's been deliberately impeded by other police officers and that there are many more lives at risk....

I've said this before but honestly I've run out of good things to say about this series. You'd expect that after 14 books over 6 years that the series would become stale. But no, they're just as fresh and thrilling now as they were in the series debut back in 2015. This one had me gripping my Kindle so tightly I thought I'd be billing Bookouture for a new e-reader! Oh and those torture descriptions....avoid if you're faint hearted. They left this usually unaffected reader a wee bit queasy. I LOVED IT!!

If you haven't read any of this series yet just get on with it. You really won't regret it!

Hello Kim Stone book 14. Goodbye sleep. 😊
This is what good stories do to you. You start reading, get sucked into them and sleep suddenly seems overrated. Of course, when morning comes it’s a different story, but I will gladly suffer through the pain in my hand from hitting the alarm clock repeatedly. 😉
The author really keeps the readers busy. We not only have to focus on the case DI Stone and her team have to solve, but there is a second as intriguing storyline featuring our well known reporter Tracy Frost. What she is trying to do is not without danger either, but she’s like a dog with a bone and determined not to let it get stolen from under her nose.
For a moment I thought that this time I had figured out who was behind all the gruesome things. In fact I had, but I did not have either. Am I talking in riddles? Yes, most certainly and I guess that I have piqued some people’s interest. If that’s the case, well done me. That was what I was aiming for.
As I already said there were some vicious scenes, but this thriller has positive scenes too. Like a bit of friendship between two very unlikely people, love between partners or great teamwork resulting in unmasking the culprit. There are a few twists that left me shocked and a very, very pleasant surprise surfaced too.
I loved this book, but I knew before I even opened it that it would be a winner once again. I wonder whether the author told us everything though… 5 stars

I loved this next instalment of the Kim stone series. I’ve read nearly all of them and they never fail to keep me wanting more from the author Angela Marsons.

Kim is thrown into the hidden world of witness protection in this instalment along with all the difficulties that brings when trying to solve multiple murders, but Kim and her fantastic team get stuck in as always.

DI Kim Stone is back. Angela Marsons has sculpted Twisted Lies into a heart-pounding, creep gathering, heavy-on-the-dark-side-of-the-street frenzy of gnarled characters and the blurred footprints that they make. This one is chock full of action and unexpected outcomes.

Kim knows that when she is beckoned into the office of DCI Woodward, arguments certainly ensue and voices will be raised. But Kim never saw this one coming. Woodward informs Kim that her irritating nemesis, Tracy Frost, will be riding along with her and DS Bryant on their next call. Frost is a news reporter for the Dudley Star. But Woodward wants to acknowledge Frost's vital assistance in their last case that saved the life of a young boy. Kim reads her the riot act........which falls on deaf ears.

He's been called "Midas" for his golden touch. But Frost raises an eyebrow that goes unnoticed. What does Frost know? And what is she not sharing with Kim?

The door to the Morley home has hardly closed when Kim receives an urgent call from Keats, the medical examiner. A body has been found in an industrial park. But this body will present itself in a condition that Kim and her team have never found before. The victim was horrendously tortured and cuffed to a roller cage. We're pulling up a chair next to even more bodies that resemble one another with their brutal conditions. Believe me, Twisted Lies is darker than any Kim Stone novel of the past.

And here's where a nod of the head and a shake of the hand goes to Angela Marsons. No other author standing on a stack of books in a series can keep the engine revving like Marsons. She ratchets up the tension and brings it to the finish line every time. Each storyline is highly creative and so well-planned. The team has brilliantly adjusted itself to whatever crimes and personal life challenges that are thrown at them. And the superb dialogue is witty and piercing as always. Just keep 'em comin', Marsons. We all wait with outstretched arms.

Just when Kim and her team (all the usual players are back: Bryant, Stacey Wood (I'm a married woman, don't you know) and Penn) have been saddled with reporter Tracy Frost as a 'ride along', a twisted new case drops in their laps. A body found in the most gruesome circumstances begins a trail of destruction that seemingly has no end.

At the same time, Frost has taken it upon herself to bring back to the light of day the murder of a young wife, by her husband a year ago. Said husband has launched a PR campaign to show himself in an innocent life, while the victim has been completely forgotten - but not on Tracy Frost's watch - with some startling results and dangers.

Meanwhile, the team are faced with a victim's family that don't react in the normal way - and then disappear into thin air overnight. And, when more victims are discovered, it seems that Kim and company are working in the dark. Why these people? And who are they?

In this story, we're introduced to the British version of WITSEC (Witness Protection) and how dead ends face every attempt to discover who, what and why behind a string of torture murders, leading Kim and crew to an astonishing discovery.

The camaraderie that has been building throughout these 14 books is back in full force: Kim and Bryant ("I'm glad you like me, boss", Bryant says after a particularly prickly Q&A with many questions and few answers; "I just hate you a lot less than others", is Kim's (paraphrased) reply. Meanwhile, Stacey Wood struggles with her opportunity to sit for the Sergeant's exam, and Penn is still dealing with his mother's death and having to parent his little brother.

Ms. Marsons manages to intertwine the crime side of the story with the personal interactions of the team - including their bosses, the pathologists, Tracy Frost, and others.

And - in case you were wondering - there is a wonderful twist or two to the story.

I love this series, and always try to be first in line to read and review. Of course, then that leaves me wanting more and having to wait for the next one.

I always look forward to a new Kim Stone mystery. You can guarantee a great set of characters, a very twisty plot, and a satisfying ending.
This time, the team are investigating some horrific murders that are somehow connected to the witness protection scheme.
In a connected story, the reporter Tracy Frost is trying to give a voice to a victim of domestic violence. During the course of the book, Kim and Tracy begin to have more respect, and even affection for each other.
The end was even more twisty than usual, with one jaw-dropping moment, that I hadn’t even suspected.
My only reason for giving four rather than five stars is because I found the murders and some other parts overly gruesome, but it won’t stop me awaiting the next episode.

Since the release of Silent Scream, Angela Marsons hasn't put a foot wrong. Her Kim Stone books strike just the right balance between the investigation and the personal lives of the officers tasked with tracking down the perpetrators.
Twisted Lies sees the team search for a terrifying killer, one who is slowly and agonisingly torturing his victims to death. The description of their murders is just a little bit frightening without giving gratuitous details, just the way a really great crime thriller should be.
Twisted Lies can be read as a stand-alone thriller but I would advise anyone new to this author to start from book one and I have to say I am envious of them. Can't wait for the next book, soon please Angela.

This was was a Marson favorite for me! So much great energy in her stories. I was actually drained when I turned the final page. Wow, what a deliciously dark storyline with twists and turns, then add a little torture and boom! Pretty intense and crazy great characters. Highly recommend this one!!

Book 14 in this series and this is the best one yet.

Twisted Lies is a gripping and fast paced story with plenty of twists and turns which keeps you enthralled until the end. A brilliant read.

This series just gets better - one of the best detective series out there! Book 14 and still going strong - excellent cast of characters, you can read alone or even better read the whole series! Each one has a complex mystery and the characters develop over time - just read this one in two days, and can't wait for the next one!

I was so excited to discover this latest book by Angela Marsons.
Like the others in the series this has me hooked from the outset and did not disappoint.
What a rollercoaster of a story.
This was dark, twisted and just a little gory. What's not to like?

Drop everything, there is a new Kim Stone book and I cannot wait any longer! This police procedural series is just brilliant and they need to be on everybody's reading list. Over the years I have become quite fond of Kim and her team. I started this series on audio and I read the books now in the voice of Jan Kramer who narrates them, She is Kim to me. She is not the easiest of women to get along with but here sarcasm and wit just makes me laugh. She is straight up and tells is as she sees it. I love that in Twisted Lie's we see her relationship with reporter, Tracey Frost change.

This case has to be one of the darkest and violent ones that the team have been involved in. This is a sadistic killer, who tortures his victims. Angela Marsons gives just enough detail to describe the scenes, without going overboard. But why has the victims family disappeared after his body was discovered? What are they hiding? The team work together to try to stop this killer. As always it is a twisty and unpredictable story and I could not get enough. Another cliff hanger ending has me desperate for book 15 already!

Two stories in one the second involving the often misjudged journalist Tracy Frost. The story races along at 1oo miles an hour and the last page leaves you not being able to wait for the next instalment.

You know when an Angela Marsons book arrives on your kindle or your bookcase that you are in for a rollercoaster of a read. Everything has to be put onto a back burner as there is nothing so important as sitting down to read one of her books.
In this 14th in the Kim Stone series I think we have one of the most sadistic killers Kim and her team have been up against.
Kim's day doesn't get off to the best of starts as she is given her arch nemesis, the reporter Tracy Frost, to shadow her. They visit a family in turmoil as the 2nd court case of their daughters/sisters murderer, her husband, is coming up for retrial. Then Kim gets a call to say a dead body has been found.
The story then takes 2 parts, Kim and the team pick up the murder case but Frost wants justice for Trish Morley.
I love this series and can't wait for the next installment. If just wish I could give more than 5 stars

Angela Marson's never disappoints. Another superb (and very dark) instalment in the Kim Stone story this time set in the mysterious world of witness protection. The crimes are horrendous (more than a few shades of the film Seven here) but what links them together?

Book #14 in the DI Kim Stone series, and it’s fair to say that ‘Twisted Lies’ is as fresh and innovative as the first.

When the horribly tortured body of a man is discovered at a crime scene in an abandoned warehouse, it heralds the start of one of the most gruesome and disturbing cases for Kim and her team, and when subsequently, the man’s wife and kids then disappear, it raises the question, what is really going on here, what has happened to them all, and why?

Unfortunately, this murder isn’t the last, and whoever the killer is, they have gone out of their way to ensure that their victims suffer in the most excruciating, not to mention inventive manner.

Kim’s arch enemy, local newspaper reporter Tracy Frost, really comes into her own this time around too, after being allowed to tag along with Kim for the day. They visit a murder victim’s family, after which Frost becomes completely immersed in the case, as the accused, (the victim’s abusive husband) is due to appear at a re-trial, (the first ended in a hung jury). The PR team hired by the accused, make him look like a wonderful character, one who couldn’t possibly have carried out the terrible abuse of which he has been accused, and it looks like he’ll walk free, but Frost starts her own investigation, with surprising results.

I loved the turn that Kim’s relationship with Frost took this time around, there now appears to be a sign of respect on Kim’s part (albeit grudgingly), very unexpected, but it added much to the proceedings. However, the sarky retorts between them continued, and was not only humorous, (lifting the distressing storyline somewhat) but utter genius.

The characters, as always, are brilliant, totally believable, the storyline intelligent, inventive and completely gripping, and after lots of good old fashioned police work, digging away, never giving up, their persistence finally pays off, and gets Kim and her team the results that they were after, and which they truly deserved. Trust me, Angela Marsons never fails to please. Miss ‘Twisted Lies’ at your peril - one of the best, in which is already a remarkable series!
