I really enjoyed this introduction into this world and I just couldn’t get enough of it. I just so thoroughly enjoyed meeting these new characters and getting to go on their journey. I will most definitely be reading more wonderful books from this author.

I absolutely adored this book! It took me a bit longer than expected to finish, but the experience was truly enjoyable. The characters definitely had some character development, and the world-building was amazing. Draven, Harley, Ray, and Nathan captured my heart. All in all, I cannot express enough how much I adored this book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

I absolutely LOVED this book! I loved the characters, the plot, everything. It was so good and I can't wait to finish the series.

It was a quick and entertaining read, but nothing groundbreaking. It felt like a very typical YA fantasy - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I did like this book, however I did not love it. I explain more in my video review (link below). Overall I think it was not my style, I did not like that the book ended with her being the AntiChrist. I will probably not be reading the next book in the series.

I am a reader that prefers action and world-building over character development and romance. Ember of Night focuses strongly on character development during the first half of the book to the point that I struggled getting through it. Lee's writing is well done and the dialogue between characters didn't leave me confused as to who's saying what but I found that I kept waiting for something to happen. And when something did finally happen, it felt kind of random. Thankfully, the manner of the events is explained through a twist near the end which I did not see coming and helped to redeem this story in my eyes. Lee gives readers a cliffhanger ending that, as someone raised in a house with strong religious beliefs, had me thinking whoa, Lee went there, then closing the book with mixed feelings about the next step in Harley's journey. The biblical elements along with the heat factor in the romance has me recommending Ember of Night as mature YA and while I will be reading and reviewing the next book, Shadow of Light, I will open it having adjusted my expectations of Harley's story and hope to enjoy it more than this first book in the trilogy.

Well before reading this I didn’t even realize how much I missed paranormal. Harley has a dormant power that wakes when she becomes 18 and of course all the evil predators are there to take advantage of that. But there’s the mysterious and irresistible Draven that is there to help her and to whom she feels an inexplicable connection (I feel it too Harvey, don’t worry 😏). The most interesting part in my opinion is how Harvey’s family is described: an abusive father, an innocent sister.. it was all so true and sad that I found myself feeling very sorry for her. The ending left me speechless and I can’t wait to continue this series!

I was so excited to read this book. The cover was so stunning and I love a paranormal romance.

This book opened with a bang and went right into the action. I loved Harley as a main character and she really brought the sass. This book definitely leaned more toward new adult than YA and I actually preferred that. It made more sense for the story.

Please note, there are some upsetting subjects in this book that not all readers will find suitable.

Now, I loved the action, drama, sass, and romance in this story (and I usually hate insta-love). I felt it was a touch predictable but overall I was intrigued to read the next book.

Until. The. End. I HATED the last line of the book. Like absolutely loathed it. I was like WHAT?!? in the worst way when I read it. I was entirely prepared to give this book 5 stars until that last line.

This book gave me total Hush, Hush vibes, except with demons instead of Angels! It also reminded me a bit of Hunt from Crescent City with a bit of Daemon from JLA’s Lux thrown in.

There are several trigger warnings so please make sure you read those at the front of the book. I will also caution this has language, dark content, and some mild intimacy scenes (no sex, just a lot of kissing and one heavy petting scene). I give this caution because it is Teen & YA, but not all parents or readers will be comfortable with the language abs intimacy levels.

I felt so bad for everything Harley (side note: LOVE this name!) had to go through. Like a moth to a flame, she’s drawn to Draven and I think it’s because he’s a bit broken inside. I adored Draven and, while I wanted to snack for playing the broody hot/cold hottie, I think his attentions were honorable, especially when it came to Ray. Their relationship (Draven and Ray’s) was one of my favorites in the book.

While I saw a few things coming, I did not see that ending coming! The adventures are not over for Draven and Harley…can’t wait to see what happens next!

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Teen for a copy of this book.

The third in this series is coming out at the end of this month. Ember of Night is the first book introducing us to Harley and her very disturbing homelife as she is waiting until she is 18 so she can leave. But other paranormal demonic things start happening and are attracted to her.

I'm very interested in Draven this boy that just happens to show up to work where she's working. But is also more than he seems. Tbh Harley is more than she seems and everyone wants a piece of her. Her father is horrible and I don't trust that guy.

Her younger sister Ray is the reason she's trying to escape her home though her father never pays her any attention or at least the way he treats her.

I'm curious how the next two books progress as Harley learns these new powers.

Thank you entangledteen and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

A story of supernaturals with powers, a story with demons. This is a story of a girl Harley who is abused by her father and with no one else to turn to, she is alone feeling helpless and weak. She develops a wall around herself not giving a pass to anybody without thousands of questions and reasoning. All while living for just one human being, her sweet little sister. She’s turning 18 and is unaware of all the secrets of her life, all the powers she contains. Her world is turned upside down when Draven enters into the picture, whose identity is a mystery in itself, to begin with. There is a lot to explore and find in the story, a lot of action I see. I love how incredible the story is. The detailing is perfect to understand the emotions, background, a character's nature. Harley's character develops so much as the story progresses, all her weaknesses she turns into strengths at some point, and having Draven with her side solidified her stance further in spite of all the things he’s hiding from her. The climax was a bang, even though I anticipated the move but still couldn’t pinpoint that why and how this is possible which made all the happenings a stronger point for the story for me. The story offers many suspense points which kept me hooked entirely, banter between the leads is so adorable, that hot spicy chemistry brewing was the cherry on the top.

Great story!

Description
I’ve been told I was as useless as a weed most of my life. Mainly by my worthless father.

But I’d suffer anything to give my kid sister a better life—the minute I turn eighteen, I’m getting us the hell out of here. And some hot stranger telling me I am the key to stopping a war between Heaven and Hell isn’t going to change that.

Let the world crumble and burn, for all I care.

Draven is relentless, though. And very much a liar. Every time his sexy lips are moving, I can see it—in the dip of his head, the grit of his jaw—even if my heart begs me to ignore the signs.

So what does he want?

I need to figure it out fast, because now everyone is gunning for me. And damn if I don’t want to show them what happens when you let weeds thrive in the cracks of the pavement…

We can grow powerful enough to shatter the whole foundation.

I like this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series or other books by this author. The reason I gave it five stars is because the book was like wow. I just could not put it down and had to find out what happens next to the main characters.

This was definitely an interesting book… But I found that it didn’t really hold my attention. In fact, I don’t think I could tell you what happened in it even now… Which is unfortunate as the concept was very interesting for me!

When I got the email from Entangled Teen offering me this series to read I couldn’t pass it up, the synopsis for book one sounded amazing and that cover grabbed my attention instantly. I don’t tend to read many angel/demon books (for no particular reason) but I found this one to be just demons which was way more fun to read. This YA book is filled with action, witty banter, and hot as hell Draven so I would literally die for. This was a nice quick read and I can’t wait to dive into book two shortly.

Thank you to Entangled Teen for sending this my way, I owe you my soul.

It’s been a while since I’ve really enjoyed a fantasy book but Ember of the Night was fantastic. I was hooked from the very first page and the storyline was so good. I love the characters and I can’t wait to read the next book.

My feelings on this book are torn. (That seems to be a theme with me lately.) I had issues getting into this book. This book has an amazing plot. The world building is positively amazing! Yet, at 50%, I restarted the book, because I was lost.

Nonetheless, I read all 430 pages and some. I’m not ready to give up on this series. I’m about to begin the sequel. The last 10% of the book and Draven had me on the edge of my seat!

Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Teen for allowing me to read and review this title! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ember of Night is available to order from where ever books are sold!

This is my second time reading Ember of Night and I enjoyed the book just as much as the first time. Harley is a, sadly, realistic teenager who deals with emotional, mental, and physical abuse from her father. She protects her younger sister from the abuse and has been taking care of seven year old Ray, since Harley was ten years old. Harley only trusts two people in her life: Kai, her childhood best friend who would like to see her as more than a friend and Nathan, her boss and father-figure at the deli she works at full-time since she was thirteen.

When Kai takes Harley out for an early birthday present at a concert, she meets Draven: a sarcastic protector and handsome guy who starts working for Nathan a few days after they met. Draven has some secrets of his own. He is a demon from Hell and he was charged to watch, protect, and possible kill Harley when she turns eighteen years old. A prophecy was made pointing fingers at Harley as the one to upend the world.

I greatly enjoy how different this book is from many others in the YA genre. I adore Ray and Nathan. I still don't like Kai very much. Who doesn't love Draven and his dark curls??? And of course the MC Harley is someone you want to root for and fight side-by-side with against her abusive father and the demons who come straight from Hell to kill her. The abuse does not make her weak and she only wants to be stronger each day so she can protect her sister and herself.

I think the way Molly E Lee weaves the story is intricate, well-thought out, and written in an almost cinematic form. I love the action and the lore Draven tells Harley about who he is and what she might be/is to the world. My only nit-pick is that there are moments of repetitive lines. Through Harley's eyes/mind we are constantly told about how she is feeling weak and wants to feel strong and not let a man tell her what to do. I'm all for feminism and empowerment and wanting to be stronger than your oppressors but this was told on almost every other page.

Overall, a fantastic re-read and I highly recommend this book to all YA fantasy/paranormal romance lovers.

4.5 stars

This just wasn't for me. I made it about 150 pages all of which just consisted of her days leading up to her 18th birthday. It was slow and kind of boring. The story just got sillier from there and the ending. It made me cringe and go ugh.
