This book was something fresh and new that Iโ€™ve never read. It has demons of all sorts and such a great cast of characters. It took me on a wild ride. I never knew which way it was going.

This story is about Harley, a girl who got dealt a crappy hand in life. Her mother is gone and her and her sister are stuck with a ugly abuser of a father. Harley has to deal with this abuse on a daily basis and this weakens her. Until one day she meets a guy named Draven who she soon discovers is not quite who he says he is.

Later on Harley discovers that Draven is part of a supernatural world and so is she. Draven tells Harley that she has powers and Harley later discover what world she truly belongs in.

I loved how this book was written. It took me into a new world and the picture was painted for me so well. I loved reading how the powers were whirling and whipping around. Molly Lee has written a wonderful book and I canโ€™t wait to read the sequel.

Thank you to Entangled Teen and Netgalley for sending this my way.

Trigger warnings:
Abuse, anxiety, cutting of flesh, mention of blood

This story was different. Demons, hell, Creator and what not, the way this story revolves around them is interesting and will keep you on edge.

Harley has a abusive other, not a day passes without another bruise. How I wanted to her to go away but she can't because of her baby sister. It is like danger runs towards her. She is broken and considers herself weak but she doesn't know the truth, a truth that will turn her world upside down, a truth brought by Draven.

Draven is dark, hot, reserved, complicated, mysterious and instead of running away from him, Harley is moving towards him inspite of the warnings. He shows her demons living around them and that only a veil separates them from humans. A veil, gate if opened will unleash Hell on earth and she can do that. Their pull towards one another and banter is lit.

This is well written and includes unique elements. I enjoyed Ray's character as well and was terrified for her but also had my doubts on Kai but the way it was brought to picture still left me shocking. This started out slow but as it progresses you just can't help but turn pages. The end, now that was unexpected twist that brings more fear. I can't wait to start the next book.

I absolutely enjoyed this and would recommend for fantasy and paranormal lovers.

Thank you @entangled teen for a chance to read this.

This is your introduction to Harley, a seriously AWESOME female lead you wonโ€™t soon forget! Think Buffy before she knew what she was but with a murkier background, a tiny bit of a death wish, and a total desire to see all things evil put to rights. She has the same hardcore protection of loved ones build into her DNA, the same questionable choice in friends/acquaintances/boyfriends, and the same ability to smell BS a mile away...even if she doesnโ€™t necessarily have a plan of attack on how to end it before it begins. She rides by the seat of her pants, but she kinda likes it that way too. I mean, sheโ€™d love a different life for herself, but sheโ€™ll make sure her little sister gets one...come heck or high water...which, by the way, both TECHNICALLY come! By bookโ€™s end, youโ€™ll be on the edge of your seat as trusts are broken, alliances are made, and right becomes wrong and back again, all in an effort to stop something BIG, something DARK, something WORLD ENDING from coming to pass. Are they successful? Well...it all depends on how you look at it.

Demons and angels clash in this quick-paced novel, where a teen battles against the threat of Hell on Earth.

This is the first book in a new series, which features demons and angels. The main character is a teen with a gritty past. Abuse, stronger language, and spicier scenes make this one for the upper end of the young adult group. Hayley is a strong heroine, who has a lot to figure out, especially when the paranormal end rolls in. Her reactions are understandable, and her hopes and determination make her easy to root for. She's fun to follow the whole way through.

The book did have a slower beginning and I did find myself skipping over a paragraph now and then, but still, I didn't really want to give up on it either. Which was a good choice. The pace quickly gains as the tale goes on until it's action pure by the end. As the last chapters hit, it was impossible to put the book down. So much is happening, and Hayley has more than her hands full. Add the journey of her figuring out herself and the new world opening up around her...along with the very deadly dangers, and there's simply a lot to enjoy.

It does end with a cliff-hanger, and I'd definitely recommend grabbing up book two, since that one is even better than this first one. I received a complimentary copy and was drawn into the adventure.

Harleyโ€™s life is anything but simple. She lives with an abusive dad and her 7-year old sister, Ray and sheโ€™s been waiting for a long time to turn 18 so she and Ray can get away from the life they have.

Enter the mysterious bad boy, Draven. Harley knows thereโ€™s something different about him and sheโ€™s immediately drawn to him. What she doesnโ€™t know is that everything in her life is about to take a wild rollercoaster ride.

As soon as I finished reading this book, I took a minute or two to process everything and just stared at my bedroom wall for a couple of minutes (okay, maybe not just minutes ๐Ÿ˜‚). I reached the epilogue about a day and a half after I got my copy. Yep, it was that fast because once you start reading this, youโ€™re not gonna wanna put the book down!

Harley is my favorite. Sheโ€™s our heroine in this story and sheโ€™s one of those characters who consider herself weak but slowly starts to see herself for what she really is and realizes the power sheโ€™s got. I also LOVE the banter that she and Draven have going on. Their slow burn romance will keep you on your toes and have you begging for more (trust me, I did). I canโ€™t wait for book two!

Fans of Paranomal Romance tropes like the Crave series and Kingdom of the Wicked series, youโ€™re going to like this! Ember of Night is another one to add to your collection.

Harley has not had it easy. Sheโ€™s not got the best home life and really all she wants is to turn 18 and save her sister from growing up the same way she did. As her birthday gets nearer, strange things start happening, strange boys comes into her life, and she is starting to have a lot of feelings she doesnโ€™t feel like she is worthy to feel. What will happen when Harley officially turns 18? Will her new friend Draven turn out to be her friend or her enemy?

Harley has a dark past and Draven is very mysterious. I donโ€™t think the chemistry build up was quite there despite what the characters thought. So the end when the feelings were much stronger as expected, I wish I had more of them in the beginning to believe it more. I havenโ€™t read much fantasy that centered more on demons opposed to other fantasy characters so that was actually a nice change of pace. I think the ending left on a good foot to start book 2, and there is still a lot of mystery around each character so Iโ€™m excited to learn more about them.

If your looking for the perfect ya fantasy that an entails an incredible FMC, and ML, then let me tell you, this book is whatโ€™s GIVING. Even the romance was at its peak and I could just not put this book down. Itโ€™s one of those books that took me back to when I first read acotar. I shockingly even read the prologue and enjoyed it? When normally after one sentence of the prologue I give up and head straight to chapter one. The characters were so well written and thought out that diving Thro their emotions was such an adventure. I think the most crazy yet best parts was the mental plot twists lol. Like I did NOT see those coming. Like that ending PLZ I ALMOST DIED. That second book has to be in my hands. .

Harley, our heroine, wants to reach 18 and take her sister Ray, who she basically has raised, away from the clutches of their abusive father but meets a dark, beautiful stranger and Harvey's life changes. Like a lot!

Here we have great supernatural characters, a superb plot that was full of action, the writing was fab and was full of banter as well!

I've got to say that Harley is amazing, she is strong, loyal, protective and above all else, she has that survivor instinct. Another massive plus point for me was she loved books!ย  She also loves her sister above all else.....

'Because Ray was an angel sent from heaven for me to protect. Iโ€™ll become her monster, and the evil of this world will have to go through me first.'

Now Draven, he was dark, delish and made me swoon! The romance made my heart sing!

'Even an ember of night can be a beacon in the darkness.'

I really enjoyed this book and I guessed 2 of twists early on. I do love it when I'm right!!! Although the last line sort of came out of no where for me and I couldn't quite get my head around it so want to dive into book 2 so I can see what transpires!

Warning: may contain spoilers!

Wow! This was an interesting and enjoyable read. We have a compelling character in Harley, who is tough as nails despite the physical abuse by her father. All her actions are for the sake of her younger sister, in the hope that she can create a better life for her. I absolutely adored this sister bond. We also have Draven with secrets of his own and while he combats with those secrets, he also has a heart of gold. My only gripe would be that there seemed to be places where answers/information should be given regarding the world-building but was delayed in delivery until later in the book. Otherwise, I am looking forward to the next book!

There are books that when you read one of the characters saying the title of the book, you squeal.
"Even an ember of night can be a beacon in the darkness."
This line is incredible and comes at a very poignant time for the main character.

Harley is 17 going on 18 and all she wants to do is survive to her birthday so she can move out of her fathers house and take her little sister, Ray, with her. Of course life isn't that simple. Harley doesn't think she's strong enough, but that doesn't stop her from stepping up and fighting instead of running away.
Draven is 18 (give or take) and is really interested in Harley, but there is something not quite normal about him.

This book is amazing, and I loved it!

I really appreciated that Molly E. Lee included not only content warnings, but also contact information for people that might need the assistance.

This was my first trip into a world of angels/demons and I wasn't disappointed!
This was an easy read that kept my attention and pushed me to finish. The author's writing style was very similar to the Crave series by Tracy Wolff, which I love. The story centers around Harley trying to create a better life for her sister, while finding out the world is full of supernatural beings. She meets Draven, who has his own secrets, but who helps her find answers as to why demons are looking for her.
Sometimes the inner monologues of Harley were a bit repetitive, but I wouldn't let that stop you from reading this. I find this a common trend in YA books. This ended with a big cliffhanger, so I'm definitely looking forward to reading the sequel!

I want to thank Entangled Teen for the opportunity to read this arc.

Wow! This book had such a fresh and original feel to it. I was pulled in right from the start and could not put it down. There's a great plot, some awesome characters, and omg that ending. Some things were a bit predictable but that in no way took away my enjoyment. I'm super excited for the second book. Let' gooo!!!

very much enjoyed this book, it wasn't what I expected at all. I was lucky to be offered an ARC for the @mollyelizabethlee book by @entangledteen and @missrikireading via @netgalley

Harley is 17 and lives with her beloved sister and her abusive alcoholic father. Set on leaving when she turns 18 and taking her sister with her, she begins to make plans for escaping her life.

Just before she does, she meets a handsome stranger and shares one dance with him and her world pretty much changes forever from that moment.

From friends with secrets to family ties. This book almost gave me everything I expected, including a romance with the mysterious Draven.

Holy Moly what a ride....I f you have not picked up this book....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????

This book is so different from what I was expecting and in a very good way. Sometimes when you hear that a fantasy book is a YA read, I expect a very juvenile book. This one was so opposite of that. It had depth and emotion that wasn't expecting and I was pleasantly surprised. So much that I tore through this book in like 6 hours! I could not put it down and you won't either!

This story follows Harley, who is getting ready to turn 18. She is horribly abused by her father (see Trigger warnings )and once she turns 18, she wants to take her sister and get away. She has Kai, who is her best friend and Nathan who is her boss/guardian that helps when he can. Then Harley Meets Draven...The tall good looking bad boy! I loved all the side characters but I really loved Draven...Holy Hotness Batman!!!! Harley was a great protector and very strong willed and determined to save her sister. She also had this snarky, quirky and funny way about her. I loved her witty banter with Draven and looked forward to their exchanges. I will warn you though that the abuse scenes that Harley encounters at the hands of her father are pretty intense. Beware of the warnings that the author places at the beginning of the book.

This book was great and I loved everything about it. It ends on a cliffhanger and I will look forward to reading the next book! I give this one 5 humongous stars!

Content Warning: Mental and physical abuse, violence, and language.

Obsessed! You experience so much. There are trigger warnings to be aware of before diving in but if your open and not opposed to any like I am then dive in without knowing them.
Your left not wanting to put the book down. It keeps you fully engaged and immersed. Thereโ€™s multiple plot twist and some you never see coming.
I canโ€™t wait for the next book

I really liked our main character Harley.. She has been beat down, physically and emotionally by her father her entire life.. The only reason she has to keep going is her little sister Ray.. She is looking forward to her eighteenth birthday when she can move out of her house for good, and take her sister with her.. After she meets this mysterious guy named Draven.. and a bunch of weird guy start attacking her, Harley realizes that something strange is going on..
I really liked Harleys journey in this book. While she is a kick butt big sister, and can take care of herself. She doesn't believe in herself at all.. Throughout the story she begins to realize that she has other people she can count on, and she is better than she believes..
Some parts of this story did get a bit crazy, especially the big reveal at the end.. but that didn't make me like the story any less..
Im definitely excited to see what happens in the next book.

I found this book to be riveting. It was so exciting and interesting to read. I was not able to put this book down until I finished it. The author does a fantastic job of world building and getting you to love the main character. The main character is also very relatable to any older sibling in that she wants to protect her little sister from everything. The love interest is amazing he is the perfect love interest to me heโ€™s got sarcastic cocky but also caring energy that I absolutely adore and the kind of love interest I want in every book all in all this book is absolutely amazing.

It is definitely for the older YA readers as there is a warning placed at the beginning of the book.
This book is a quick read however you will feel like you are on an intense ride the entire time.
There is a dark intensity throughout the whole book as we follow Harleyโ€™s life struggles from an abusive parent to having to become an adult the moment she turns 18. Her goal is to take care of the only light in her life, Ray, her younger sister. She pulls double shifts at a deli for a gentleman, Nathan, who has become a father figure to the two girls. Harley works and saves so she can afford an apartment to make a better life for her and Ray.
However right before her 18th birthday a dark stranger, Draven, shows up to later tell her she might be the key that could win a battle between this world and hell. Their is a constant tug of war between these two characters as they have both built up walls from the abuse they have endured in their own lives. There is a spark that ignites between the 2 of them that draws you in. An intense growling feeling every time they touch or are near each other as Harley has now discovered she has dark power. However Harleyโ€™s best friend, Kai, warns her to stay away from Draven.
The duo, Harley and Draven, by the end of the book have a very complex and formidable bond.
Without giving spoilersโ€ฆMolly E. Lee gives you a thrilling story that keeps you locked in until the very end. You will have to read to come to the shocking conclusion for yourself!!!!

Ember of Night was such a phenomenal read. It had me pulled in from page 1 all the way through to the last page

Harley is a 17 year old girl who lives with her abusive alcoholic father. All she wants to do when she turns 18, is to move out with her 7 year old baby sister Ray. But that is until gorgeous and infuriating Draven turns up telling her she is a key to stopping war between heaven and hell. I absolutely love Draven. He is such a mystery to unravel, full of secrets that had me glued to the book into the late hours at night to find out what was happening. I love Draven and Harleyโ€™s baiter and sense of humour between each other, full snark and sarcasm that had me in stitches at times. Harley was such a strong and confident young lady that puts up with her dad's abuse and hits and will do anything to protect Ray so she can have the best life she can give her, but now that all hell's creatures are after her which makes that dream a lot hard to full fill.

Ember of night was full of twists and turns, kept you guessing all the way through, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I read all within a few days and didnt want it to end and needed more. There was such strong emotion that had me in tears and some absolutely hilarious moments too, this book had everything. Molly E. Lee did such a super job and loved the writing and the plot was fast pacing. Cannot wait for the second book Shadow of light. I can't recommend this book enough. It was breathtaking.
