What I thought would be your typical Hallmark type book/romance turned into a lot more. The story focuses on Carter and Abby. Abby runs a daycare in Heart’s Hope Bay which is a small town on the Oregon Coast. Carter came back to help out with his niece because his sister has an injury. He also happens to be Abby’s high school sweetheart. In the beginning of the book I thought it was going to be a typical hallmark type romance where the girl is in the small town and the guy comes back from the big city and realize they are perfect for each other. However, delving more into the book it becomes less of a Hallmark TV movie with its sexual innuendos and intimate scenes. If you are not a fan of either of those than I would say this book isn’t for you or you can just skip those sections. The book also focuses on how 2 people wanting different things in their lives can throw a wrench in their plans.

I liked the names Carter and Abby. I liked their chemistry despite the past. I hated that Carter wanted to run from home. I didn't like that their fling wasn't supported by Abby's grandmother. I did like that Abby helped run a day care

WOW! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FIVE STARS! I loved this book so much. I laughed, I cried, I got a little 💫 spicy 🥵 at times, and overall I was so invested in the characters. Definitely everything I look for in a romance novel! Phoebe Mills’s “The House on Sunshine Corner” revolves around Abby, a 29 year old single woman with DREAMS. She is killing the game: running her own business, having meaningful relationships with her friends, living with her grandma in a totally not ironic or joke-worthy way. With the exception of her love life. Cue the entrance of Carter. Sexy, mature, ripped, career driven, sweet, funny Carter. Did I mention they were each other’s first loves??? I am so thankful to @netgalley for providing me with this ARC and introducing me to this novelist, I cannot wait for the sequel to come out in 2022! #bookstagram #netgalley #netgalleyreviewer #phoebemills #romancenovel

I received an advance copy of, The House on Sunshine Corner, by Phoebe Mills. This is a cute love story. The characters are nice, and so is the setting.

I loved this small town second chance romance. The sweet attraction between Carter and Abby was magical. Babies and the preoccupation with them was a but over the top and grandma led the charge on that but it was still nice to get those family happily ever after feels from this book.

There is only minor conflict in this book and very little angst which made it a very easy read. You like both Carter and Abby and their love of family is endearing. You root for them to overcome their conflict and achieve their happily ever after from the beginning. They have wonderful chemistry.

There is some heat in this book but not a lot.

Overall it was a lovely weekend afternoon read that made me feel really good.

Thanks Netgalley and Grand Central Pub for my gifted copy.

Carter Hayes returns to his sleepy hometown of Heart's Hope Bay along the Oregon coast. He left town 10 years ago getting a degree in architecture and works in Las Vegas. He is there to help with his three year old niece Sophia for a couple of months while his sister Becca recovers from a broken ankle. Of course he will run into Abby Engel, his high school sweetheart. She owns and runs Sophia's daycare which she is planning to expand into a preschool.

This is a gentle second chance romance. The attraction between the two is still there but so are the reasons that separated them. She wants a family ands to stay near her grandmother and friends. He has bigger aspirations. The story is told from both MC's POV and both have friends and family that add to the storyline. It is easy to guess who will be the feature leads in the next in the series. I think the only downside for me is so much focus on babies. Grandma actually predicts who will be pregnant next and a couple is having marital problems because of surprise pregnancy. It is fitting for the age of the characters but except for the romance it fills a lot of the story.

This if for contemporary romance readers who enjoy very little language and some heat. Expect minimal angst and living in a town with the name of Heart's Hope Bay you know there will be a happy ending. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.
