Linton's Flying in Love series has been pretty amazing and this story proves it. Gabe is such a strong protagonist that melts the heart and forces swoons with his thoughtfulness, good looks, and oozing charm. Piper has trust issues and I loved watching her work through them and own up to her inadequacies.

Piper works for a magazine and I found the feature this book centered around to be quite interesting and allowed the reader to catch a deeper glimpse into Gabe's innate character.

The military life wouldn't be easy, especially for someone like Piper, and this author does a beautiful job of portraying the good and the bad, while weaving in tight familial connections and a blossoming love. I loved the connections to religion and how they can play a part in faith for the future and healing. And I love, love, loved the sweet romance. True love, not fear, can conquer all.

Content: mild, swoony romance; mild+ religion

Okay, so I wasn't a fan of such novels where it contains navy and military.. because it feels hard to let the loved ones go

In Some way I felt I could recognise Piper's fear, she has lost some ppl on her family and grief took in form of fear and couldn't let her love completely any person unfortunately she feels all these emotions only for Captain Orsini whome she's afraid to love

This way really good, this explains everything I was afraid of .. you know being left behind.. but after reading this fully I could understand the love and faith that takes to build up the courage to letting ourselves to fully love
This story was really good.. their relationship, love, faith.. family, work.. aww.. it's such a well built book y'all
I did feel a lil bit dragged but it was okay.. it's just perfect title and description
Gabriel steals your attention
It was so lovely to read their story.. you'll enjoy it
It's a good one time read

When everything worked out for them it felt so good to see them together and Captain Orsini proves that there are perks for this too😉

“I want to be where you are, wherever in the world that is. It
will be home if we are together."

Chalon Linton is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. The characters felt real, with life experiences that made them more tangible. This book and the characters take you through an array of emotions with each one individually and together. I really liked how the characters connected and grew.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

#BookReview: FLY HOME TO ME by Chalon Linton

“Strong relationships require sacrifice. Love requires sacrifice.”

I knew I would love this book after reading Chapter 1. I laughed with all of Gabriel’s cheesiness. I cried with Piper as she struggled with her fear. But despite all the fun, this book didn’t take away the fact that being in the service takes a lot of sacrifice. They have dedicated their lives to serve the country. I think their families and loved ones are heroes as well for all their love and support. The author knows a lot about the AirForce as depicted in all the details Gabriel shared with Piper.

Piper was afraid of being left behind so Gabriel’s job as an Air Force pilot was a big deal for her. But Gabriel is just very charming. He knows how to make a girl feel special. I truly enjoyed fun character, his honesty and his faith. Piper was new to her faith. Her spiritual journey was realistic.

I appreciated the friendships and familial relationships covered in the story. Piper is blessed to have Chrissy and Lauren as part of her support group. I highlighted many quotable quotes and wise counsels. I like what Chrissy said to Piper: “Whatever decision you will make will come with its own trials. But if the road is going to be rocky either way, make sure it’s the road you want to take.”

I am happy I read this book and I hope to read the first book in the Flying in Love series.
If you like a man with soothing honey eyes, military acronyms, clean romance and lots of pizza, this one’s for you. A perfect 4th July read! 5 stars

This story felt so authentic to me! Piper was a woman who carried a lot of grief for the family members that she lost a few years earlier. The way she handled that grief impacted her ability to open herself up to others. She didn’t want to hurt any more. It was hard to watch as she allowed fear to keep her from truly giving in to love.

Gabriel was such a great hero! He went all out for Piper and did everything within his power to show her how he felt. He was a patient and kind man, yet also had a great sense of humor and loved to flirt with Piper.

I felt so many emotions related to these two. My heart soared as things were working out for them and their feelings were growing and my heart hurt as they faced difficulties related to Gabriel’s career as a fighter pilot.

I enjoyed this story from start to finish and even though it is book two in a series, I had no trouble reading it as a stand alone novel.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Fly Home to Me was such a sweet romance to read. Piper Holland is such a relatable character. Her struggles with relationships because of the extreme losses she suffers makes me feel such compassion for her and Gabriel Orsini is such a hunk of a man in both appearance (for Chalon Linton does a great job of describing him) and in character. These two work so well together.

Oftentimes authors will use another possible love interest to create some drama but Chalon does not do this to the extreme. There is a hint of one but Piper knows who she is interested in and doesn't let the possibility of money distract her. I loved that about this story. It really is about the emotional growth of Piper and her process of trusting that people wont leave her.

The whole story flowed so well and while military is an aspect of the story- it isn't overwhelming. That part compliments the rest of the story and adds an exciting aspect to create a really enjoyable read.

If you're writing a book and want to hook someone right away, a good way to do it is to write about a good Samaritan helping another person out. Totally worked for me. I will admit, the romance aspect of the story happened a lot quicker than I was expecting - probably because most of the books I read focus on the "getting there" part, not the "we're in love, now what?" part. It's fun to read something different every now and then though. :)

I could not relate at all with Piper's love of the desert and the overabundance of sunshine and heat. Maybe because I live in the desert, but grew up in the mountains, and I really miss green things and seasons (I mean, I don't miss snow. I can live without that. I can do without melting though.) But wow, that was a tangent. Anyway, I think I related more with Gabriel and his desire to travel and see the world.

My differences from a completely fictional character aside, I loved this story. It was full of humor, heartache, trials, and all that's in between. I know it's a really good story when I find myself choking back tears, laughing out loud (and dealing with the strange stares) or just sitting there with a big, dopey grin on my face. I'm pretty sure I did all of the above with this book.

This sweet and gentle romance follows Piper's healing journey as she comes to terms with how her losses and grief are affecting her relationships. Her parents and one of her brothers had been killed in a car accident several years previously, and the fear and anxiety she developed over losing those she loves influences her relationships with her remaining brothers, sister-in-law, best friend, and dating life. I appreciated that her process of awareness and change included long term work with her therapist as well as her deepening relationship with God through church and prayer. She is well put together and successful in her career, and Gabriel's sunny personality instantly draws her to him. Their rapport develops quite naturally and is refreshingly realistic. Gabriel is patient as she gets used to the idea of ditching her four-date rule and moving into a meaningful relationship. I felt like her constant worrying overshadowed the joy of their falling in love, and I found it a little difficult to connect to those feelings. The lessons she learns about reconciliation and letting go of her perceived control bring both depth and light to her character and I was happy to see her growth by the end of the story. The pace of the book is on the slower side with plenty of details that bring each scene to life, allowing me to easily envision them in my mind.

I’ve always loved military romance books. Probably because that life is so very different to mine and I’ve never really had anything to do with anyone in the military. This book was no exception to my love of military romances. I laughed and I cried my way through this book.

There were so many great moments, but what I probably enjoyed the most was the growth Piper went through. As people it is important for us to grow, so I believe that it is important for characters to grow in order to make them relatable.

So you’re probably wondering if this book is for you or not? Well if you love military romances, you love strong character growth and you love a Christian message, well then this book is for you. It is the second book in the series, but they can be read as standalones. I know that I will go back to read book one, though.

Fly Home to Me is a contemporary military romance written by Chalon Linton. It is book two in the Flying in Love series, but it is not necessary to have read book one in order to enjoy this one.

Summary: Piper Holland is determined to prove herself at work-and stay as far away from relationships as possible.

But when she crosses paths with handsome fighter pilot Gabriel Orsini, she can’t help but be drawn to his charm and selflessness.

Will Piper’s traumatic past ruin the relationship, or will she finally be able to open her heart to love again?

My Thoughts: I liked this book. It is a sweet romance with a military flair, and has wonderful characters that draw you in from the get go. The story is well-written, romantic, and a fun and easy read.

I really enjoyed reading it, and would definitely recommend it-especially to anyone looking for a light and clean romance.

I would like to thank Covenant Communications for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!

Sweet and heartfelt:
This was another wonderful, clean contemporary military romance by this truly talented author.
Piper was rather rigid and extremely organized so she was thrown for a loop a bit by easy going, spontaneous Gabe. They made a cute couple and I was rooting for them all the way. I enjoyed seeing Piper work through her various issues and was so glad that she was able to come to a place of healing and peace. Gabe was so sweet and caring yet he seemed genuine and authentic too.
This book captured my attention from the beginning and I enjoyed the light humour that was throughout. I appreciated that it took an honest look at the sacrifices, pressures and challenges serving in the military can place on relationships in particular. There was a light Christian message about finding belonging in Christ's family but I think this book would appeal to all readers regardless of their beliefs.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

4.5 stars

Okay this one started out a little rough but after about 10-20 pages, I LOVED it. Basically, we have a pilot, Gabriel, and a journalist, Piper, who have a meet-cute a the dry cleaners. Cue romance, cue love, cue drama.

I made so many notes throughout this story on how cute the flirting and romance was. Like, truly, Gabriel was SUCH a flirt and Piper was the epitome of me, just standing there absorbing the flirty but not returning it because, well, how do you flirt? Kidding. Anyway, point being, I loved the flirting! Also, Gabriel was so quirky and I loved how Chalon Linton captures and showcases all of these quirks. One thing to note though is that with the quirks, a lot of stuff was also very cheesy. For some, you expect this, while others hate cheesiness, so go into it with a fair mindset. I loved every ounce of it, personally. On that note, with Gabriel's character, I felt like he was really respectful which was great. Piper? Loved her! She was still recovering from the death of her family and, while I can't imagine the pain that that brings, I can imagine it follows a timeline and range of emotions similar to what is displayed through her. I also loved that she was driven and determined while also realizing that not every single thing can be done on your own. Sometimes, as humans, we need community. Her character arc did really well with all of this!

From a religious standpoint, if someone is reading this or wanting to recommend it to a friend, I would certainly date someone like Gabriel and befriend someone like Piper. I love that they're depicted in a way that emanates Christ. Thus, you could recommend this book based on its characters. None of them were toxic or questionable. If this doesn't apply to you, the characters are still very well rounded and it's easy to love them, so you should still enjoy them.

There were some elements that I thought dragged on, like Piper's uncertainty of dating someone in the military or her feeling like she didn't fit in with Gabriel's friends. Sure, both of these are very important, but they aren't significant enough to drag on and on throughout. I did feel like they were resolved though, which adds to this book's positive review.

Overall, as I would happily reread this ten times over, this is a bit higher than a four, but not quite a five, hence the 4.5.

This was an okay book for me. The premise is good, but the story lacked sparkle and chemistry. I liked the journalist angle of the story. Piper had a lot of baggage, which she struggles with at first and overcomes her fears. She annoyed me at times. I like the dates Gabriel planned for Piper. That was sweet.

A sweet read from Chalon Linton! Fly Home to Me is one of those stories that sucks you in and doesn’t let you stop reading until you’re done. It’s a good length for an afternoon read, and is sure to entertain. Although I didn’t love the characters and wanted an epilogue, I enjoyed this little peek into another side of air force life. I hope Linton writes more in this series! 3.5/5 stars

Looking for an enjoyable clean contemporary romance? This second book in Chalon Linton’s Flying in Love series captures all those butterflies in the stomach moments when you’re falling in love, anticipating that first kiss, and looking at your phone wondering if “he” will text/call. Each book in this series focuses on those serving in the Air Force and provides a unique look into the complications and hardships military couples face not knowing when they might be called up for service.

The story takes place in the sunny city of Phoenix, Arizona. Paige is in marketing at a local magazine Finding Phoenix. She’s excited to pitch her new idea for promoting the magazine by featuring local people and what they like about the community. She’s on her way to pick up her dry cleaning when she sees a hot looking Air Force pilot helping an old man with his car. Wanting to do a good deed, she pays for the Airman’s dry cleaning when she notices him coming into the shop. Gabriel can’t accept her generous offer and calls her to ask her out so he can give her the money back.

Paige talks Gabriel into being the local Air Force hero featured in the magazine and Gabriel readily agrees just so he can keep seeing Paige. Paige is a complicated woman. She’s experienced a lot of loss in her life and feels like she is constantly being left behind. She’s afraid of commitment and getting hurt. When she meets Gabriel, she has to decide if she’s willing to overcome her fear or lose the greatest thing to ever happen to her.

Can I just say I love Gabriel/Gabe?! He is not only a gorgeous Italian Air Force pilot, but he’s kind, creative, thoughtful, a fabulous flirt, and so patient. I loved his celebration of every holiday under the sun, his willingness to sacrifice for Paige, his love of pizza, and his faith.

I liked Paige but at times I wanted to smack her because she is her own worst enemy. She’s so afraid of losing someone that she sabotages her own chances for happiness. I liked her loyalty and the way that she grows throughout the story.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series! I give it 4 1/2 stars. I was lucky to receive a complimentary copy from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review and all opinions are my own.

4.5* Chalon Linton has infused this story with lessons on turning to God in our lives and learning to rely on Him for answers and strength when we are lacking.  The believable characters have real concerns dealing with the anxiety of being left behind and the challenges of supporting military spouse.  I enjoyed seeing the priorities being arranged and the strength they lend each other.

Fly Home to Me by Chalon Linton, 224 pages. Covenant Communications, 2021. $15.
Language: G (0 swears, 0 “f”); Mature Content: PG; Violence: PG
BUYING ADVISORY: HS - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Twenty-five-year-old Piper has a presentation tomorrow and needs to get through this traffic before the dry cleaner closes so she can look her best. Piper’s annoyance turns to admiration as she sees the van creating the hold up being pushed to the side of the road by one man in uniform. When Piper tries to do a kind thing for him in turn, he refuses but asks her to get a bite to eat with him instead.
On the surface, Piper’s love story is cute. However, I had a hard time enjoying the cuteness because Piper is the one with all the baggage. While her love interest has some moments of obvious imperfection, he still puts off the vibes of being flawless -- highlighted by the fact that he does little to no changing through the book as Piper struggles to overcome her insecurities to make the relationship work. This unbalanced dynamic feels like a red flag to me, which made it harder to support and like their story.

Piper is falling hard for Captain Gabriel Orsini, the only problem is that he is an active military pilot and could be deployed at any moment. Piper has commitment issues after both her parents and brother died suddenly in an accident, years ago. She loves living in Phoenix and cannot imagine life anywhere else. But has she sought God's advice in all of this? Will she let her fear of commitment and the unknown hold her back? Or will she chase love and life with Gabriel, a real life hero?

This book opened my eyes to the realties of the loved ones left behind by the military. I had never considered what it would be like to date someone who was deployed. It was a sweet love story, filled with everyday trials that can sometimes feel very overwhelming.

A very modern-day love story. Gabriel is a hero in all forms. He really is a great guy and it was clear from the beginning. The obstacles that Gabriel and Piper have to overcome for the relationship they want together is so touching. It shows that sometimes you need to fight so hard for what you feel is right and needed in your life and for Piper, that was Gabriel and vice versa.

My first read from Chalon and I adored this. It showed the ups and downs of dating someone in the Air Force but kept it light-hearted at the same time.

Thanks for allowing me this ARC!
