This was billed as a great thriller and it absolutely delivered.
Great characters and a captivating plot line.

I thought this was a pretty solid thriller. I really liked Savannah and Holly as characters and they were easy to emphasize with. However, I felt that the time jumps were confusing at times and the book wouldn't have needed as many POVs as it had. The ending was good, but the twist came a little early in the story.

I went into this thinking I would love it, and I was not disappointed.

This was such a fun domestic thriller. I am not one to enjoy these, but something about the mysterious premise really captivated me. Dead husband? Forced silence? Sign me up.

Susan Walter has created a captivating and enthralling mystery about secrets through a mother/daughter relationship that is quite literally to die for.

It all starts with a promise from a stranger: We’ll take care of everything.

I loved this book. The character development was great and I found myself really caring and rooting for Holly and Andy. The first-person storytelling from multiple points of view worked really well and allowed the story to unfold in a manner that kept me very immersed and constantly trying to guess what would happen next. Unique and surprising!

A story told through multiple perspectives, this book was a quick and entertaining read. Although I was able to guess the big reveal fairly early on, I still enjoyed seeing it all play out. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“What is a life worth?” A pivotal character’s question sets the theme for this thriller.

When Holly’s husband is killed by a hit and run driver, her life changes overnight, the secret criminal becomes her fairy godparent and deposits her and her daughter Savannah into a shiny new life in elite Calabasas.

This was a multiple-POV story with short, delicious chapters that kept me glued to the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for Susan Walter for this voyeuristic escape into a sell-your-soul-to-survive tale.

How much is the life of someone you love worth? Holly’s husband is killed in a brutal hit and run accident, and she”s there to witness the entire terrible event. She can, and should get the driver charged, but then she gets an offer from a representative of the person who killed her husband. If she keeps her mouth shut, she and her daughter will be set, financially, for life. It’s an offer Holly can’t refuse and she and her daughter are soon set up in a luxurious home in an exclusive enclave. But Holly isn’t the only resident with a deadly and terrible secret, her neighborhood is filled with people who don’t want their dirty linen aired in public, and they’ll do anything make sure it isn’t

This was a fairly quick read at around 300 pages, it was just what I needed!
Loved the concept of the storyline and the structure, the story is told from multiple points of view. Despite this, the plot was easy to follow and sucked me in right from the beginning!
I really liked the main character Holly and really felt for her throughout, I almost felt protective over her.
A few revelations were quite predictable and I saw them coming, but the ending went somewhere I never imagined it would.
Overall this was an enjoyable, quick read although it didn't leave me reeling as Id have liked.

Nice.
Holly Kendrick’s husband is dead. Holly saw it all. In one violent moment, a hit-and-run accident turns Holly’s life upside down. Then a fixer for the high-powered guilty party approaches Holly with an offer she is in no position to refuse. Holly and her daughter, Savannah, will want for nothing, beginning with a luxury dream house—all for the price of their silence. But when their sudden appearance in privileged Calabasas, California, piques the curiosity of neighbors, the price becomes greater than they imagined. Because Holly and Savannah aren’t the only ones in the neighborhood with something to hide.
Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for giving me an advanced copy.

I found this book very intriguing for the first 2/3. I had figured out some of the twists and was looking forward to the conclusion. However, the last part of the book took an odd turn in my opinion and the ending wasn’t great. Still a good read.
