The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews
The Santa Suit is a sweet novel about moving, family and starting over when everything seems to have gone wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this book except for a few minor details. The random swearing and the sex scene were totally unnecessary as neither added a single thing to the story.
This is more of a novella than a novel yet the character development was good and the characters were compelling and likable. I took one star off of my rating for the language and sex, although neither was excessive, neither was needed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley.

Newly divorced Ivy Perkins is ready for a change. She bought a charming farmhouse sight unseen and moved to a small town from Atlanta. While unpacking the house she finds a much loved velvet Santa suit with a note from a small child in the pocket—a request for her father to be found. This begins the search for an answer to this mystery, and a series of new friendships and beginnings for Ivy.

I absolutely loved this sweet story of second chances and beginning anew in small town life. The story was well written and a fun read from beginning to end. Another reviewer suggested this book as a good stocking stuffer, and it will definitely be on my list when I pick up gifts this year. A must read for the holidays.

After reading a few long mysteries and a serious memoir, I was ready for some light chick-lit reading and this book was perfect. Such a sweet story with good characters and some unexpected surprises that made me feel warm and fuzzy - - and in tears!

A perfect book for Christmas.

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews is a wonderfully charming Christmas book that I really enjoyed. It is the kind of story you come to expect from this author. I was only introduced to Ms. Andrews several years ago and I just love her work. It is a novella so it will be a quick read.

While the story may be a quick read, the feelings are deep and the characters delightful. The setting is splendid taking place in a small town with endearing and quirky characters. Ms. Andrews has a way of making her characters come to life. You are drawn into the characters emotionally and this story even has a little bit of mystery thrown in for good measure.

The Santa Suit is heartwarming and to me that is perfect for a Christmas story. Consider adding this book to your holiday reading list. Mary Kay Andrews never disappoints. My only complaint was that it was over too quickly. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

I would like to thank Mary Kay Andrews, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fresh on the heels of a divorce Ivy buys an old farmhouse sight unseen. When she arrives she is dismayed to discover that the previous family left the place fully furnished and full of belongings. Sorting through cupboards and closets Ivy comes across an old and beautifully made Santa suit. In the pocket she finds an old note from a child who’s Christmas wish is for her daddy to come home from the war. Ivy’s interest is piqued and she sets out to discover what happened to this little girl and her family. This mission thrusts Ivy into the thick of small town Christmas preparations and traditions when she was planning to lie low and ignore the holiday. With the help of a new girlfriend and her ever helpful, handy and handsome realtor, Ivy sets out on a Christmas mission.
With a little bit of mystery and a little bit of romance and a lot of Christmas atmosphere this book has everything a seasonal read needs.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

The Santa Suit is a sweet, quick read. Newly divorced Ivy moves from Atlanta to a farmhouse in North Carolina. She purchased the house online, knowing that she would have to do some refurbishing. But once she arrives at her new home, she quickly learns there is a lot more to be done than she realized. With the assistance of new acquaintances, Ivy manages to give her home, and herself, a new life. And along the way, she helps a few new friends find new life as well. I enjoyed this book by Mary Kay Andrews.

I loved THE NEWCOMER by Mary Kay Andrews, so I was really excited to get into this book! Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into the story. The characters and the suit storyline just weren't for me. DNF. Thank you, NetGalley!

The Santa Suit is a Christmas Hallmark movie in book form. From the small town setting, to the community of new friends made, a magical Santa suit, and long ago Christmas wishes.

Ivy buys an old farmhouse in a new state site unseen fresh off her divorce and suddenly realizes she’s in over her head. With the help of her charming real estate agent and new friends, Ivy settles into her new community but something keeps bugging her. The previous owners played Mr & Mrs Claus every year and in the pocket of the Santa suit was a letter written by a little girl asking to bring her daddy home from war. Ivy enlists the help of her new friends to find out who the little girl was and if she ever got her wish.

This story is heartwarming and full of Christmas magic. The perfect book to read snuggled up on the couch with a cozy blanket by the fire.

Very cute, wholesome story. I always like her books and this was no exception. This would be a good gift for that hard to buy for kind of person who enjoys reading books without violence or upsetting activities.

Ivy, recovering from a divorce, wants change so she buys a dream farm house, sight unseen, a couple states away from where she lived. Yes, it is more of a fixer upper than she expected, but she's ready for a change. The realtor, among other locals, is happy to give her a hand with clearing out and rebuilding. What they find while emptying out the place spurs her to try to find what happened with a little girl's letter to Santa.

It is a fast read, but you will find yourself smiling. Good story. 4.5 stars. Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

Mary Kay Andrews is an automatic buy author for me. I was lucky enough to be given an ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press.

Ivy is on the backend of her painful divorce, she decides to pack it all up and buy a farmhouse she has never seen before in a town she has never visited before. Ezra, her real estate agent, is at the front door with her as she discovers her new home, not only needs repair, but is fully furnished.

As Ivy makes her way through the house and the closets she discovers that the previous owner and his wife not only loved Christmas, but were the town's Santa and Mrs. Claus until the time of the their passing. When Ivy finds a letter from a little girl still in the pocket of the Santa suit, she decides she needs to see if she can find the woman who used to be the little girl. From here we watch Ivy rediscover herself, while making new friendships, while reconnecting old relationships.

This was a quick, fun read and a great choice for the upcoming holiday season. It contains a little bit of everything; mystery, romance and friendship.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martins' Press for the ARC in return for my honest review.

When you need a break from heart-wrenching historical fiction and tense thrillers, The Santa Suit may be just what you’re looking for. What a nice pre-holiday treat.

Ivy Perkins is recently divorced and needs a new start. Sight unseen, she purchases an old farmhouse in North Carolina called The Four Roses, named after the family that had lived there. When Ivy moves in, she finds the house filled with the former owner’s furniture and boxes and boxes of their belongings. One box holds an old and beautiful Santa suit. She learns that the now deceased and much beloved Bob Rose had served as the community’s Christmas Santa for years. In the suit’s pocket, Ivy finds a child’s holiday wish that touches her heart and sets her on a mission to learn more about the little girl who wrote it many years ago. With the help of her real estate agent Ezra and some nice neighbors, Ivy learns more about the story in the note and the lovely community she has moved to.

Author Mary Kay Andrews has written a novella sure to get you in an early holiday mood. No surprises in this sweet story. Just a joyful read for those of us who know how every Hallmark TV movie ends but watch them anyway.

We are down to double-digits to Christmas, 92 to be exact. 🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄

Ivy, newly divorced, moves to a small town and purchases a site-unseen old farm house. The quant community is welcoming and rich with Christmas spirit. Unbeknownst to her, the farmhouse is the former home of the long-standing Santa and Mrs. Claus for the town.

As Ivy slowly unpacks the treasures left behind, she unearths a note to Santa, in the box with the Santa Suit, dating back to the 1960's. What slowly unravels is a mystery of who is this child and why did she ask Santa to bring her dad home. And, what magical powers does this suit house to mend a broken heart to welcome new love. Ivy befriends her realtor who turns out to be the Hunky Handyman she didn’t know she’d be gifted this holiday season.

The Santa Suit is an adorable novella full of southern Christmas joy. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the complimentary copy.

This is a cute tale about a young lady who takes a big leap of faith and moves to a town she knows nothing about and knows no one. Of course, there is Christmas magic involved that makes the story a pleasant read. One that will get you in the Christmas spirit.

I loved this book. It is written with alot of hope, spirt and heart. This is an author I never hesitate to pick up. Her books pull me into her stories from the beginning. Her attention to details make her stories realistic. This book is no different. It has a little bit of everything in it, from romance to mystery. The characters are relateable and brought the story to life on each page.. I enjoyed their growth throughout the story as well as the growth of the plot. This is a story of second chance and family. It really is a great story that will warm your heart and it brought out other emotions as well. I highly recommend this book and this author.

I’m not sure if this is considered a short story or a novella, but whatever it is called, it is a fun story about the magic that only happens at Christmas time. There isn’t anything unexpected but it is still worth the read. It is just long enough to develop the characters to draw you in and have a Christmas miracle or two along the way. And when you throw in a romance, it is rounded out.

I’d recommend this to anyone wanting a little Christmas cheer to prepare for the holidays. If you aren't in the Christmas mood before you read it, you will be after.

Romance and a Santa Suit?

Ivy Perkins decided that she needed a change after her divorce and bought Four Roses Farm sight unseen in Tarburton, but nothing was like the pictures. The house was rundown and needed cleaning out and some work with a little help from her realtor Ezra Wheeler and some new friends. But finding a Santa suit in the house with a letter to Santa in the pocket made her wonder if the letter had been answered.

I absolutely loved reading The Santa Suit because Ivy learned that Christmas is family, friends and just maybe an answer to the letter she found in the pocket of the Santa suit and make some friends and maybe fall in love.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this story and I loved the characters. Ivy bought a farm house sight unseen. She is starting over after a bad divorce. Ezra, the real estate agent, greets her and keeps coming back to help. Her furniture gets rerouted to another state and then it is demolished in an accident. So many things go wrong with the house, but she is undeterred. She loves the house and the town. As she is cleaning things out, she finds a Santa suite that belonged to the previous owner. Inside a pocket is a letter from a little girl. Intrigued by the letter, Ivy sets out to find out what happened to the little girl who asked for her daddy to come back from the war. Along the way, Ivy finds acceptance, friends and love. She helps people as she goes along. She doesn't take credit, she gives credit to the Santa suit.
