The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews

What a fantastic story of starting over after a divorce, bring a town together for Christmas and helping the town find the spirit of Christmas again. Ivy also reunites a father and daughter who lost touch years ago after her father was killed in Vietnam. This is such a feel good Christmas story that will give you the feel good vibes that we really need right now.

I loved Ivy and her conversations with Punkin her dog and how she was willing to buy a house sight unseen just because she felt it would be a great place to start over. Most of all I love how the town accepted her and really wanted to share how much the previous owners of the Four Roses made Christmas an annual event made for everyone.

This was my first read from Mary Kay Andrews, and I enjoyed the lightheartedness of her writing style. The Santa Suit could easily be a Christmas Hallmark movie. The characters are all there from the bah humbuggish protagonist to the townspeople filled with Christmas cheer. I enjoyed the quick pace of the storyline and read it in nearly one sitting. The small mystery built within the story was cute and I enjoyed how it all wrapped up neatly in the end. The romance was a bit awkward, because it happened so quickly. That said, The Santa Suit is a cute story for anyone looking for Christmas cheer and I will definitely try more from Mary Kay Andrews. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced review copy in exchange for my honest review. 3.5 stars

Oh my goodness....what a wonderful story. Not only is it a story of starting over, it is about small town kindness and neighbors gathering together. It has funny moments, heartwarming emotional moments, moments that will give you goosebumps and it's filled with magical Christmas moments.
When Ivy purchases an old farmhouse, she didn't expect to open a treasure chest of magic and joy. As she faces many ups and downs dealing with the old home, she knows it's just meant to be hers. The elderly couple , the Roses, that used to own the home, believed in bringing Christmas and joy to not only children but all of the towns residents. It was fate that brought handsome real estate agent, Ezra, and Ivy together and you can't help but read this story quickly to see if they continue all the beautiful traditions of the Season that Santa Bob and his family started. The dog Punkin' will steal your heart too. Writing this review just doesn't do justice to this beautiful story that I know I will be re-reading often and will treasure.

Great big thank you to St. Martin Press and NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review of The Santa Suit.

This is a fabulous story and it should be the next Hallmark Christmas story. This story has it all: laughter, tears, magic, hope, joy and love. Get your Kleenex handy because you are going to need it.
When Ivy first buys her ranch house sight unseen I thought it was going to turn into a money pit storyline. Not with Mary Kay Andrews at the pen! Ivy pulling into her driveway with her Realtor ready to hand her the keys it wasn’t mushy love at first sight or a hate to love storyline either. This was a genuinely lovely plausible storyline of the power of Christmas in a small town.

I think my favorite part is the Langley Sweets candy shop. The candy was so well described, not too sweet, amazing flavors with the notes of pepper and mint, I would try that candy even though I’m not a sweets person either. It wasn’t just that Ivy boosted the sales of the shop with her ingenuity for promotions but the hope that she brought to Nancy Bergstrom. This is really the path throughout the story, Hope. Ivy is not on a mission to save the world but just an ordinary person hurting from a rotten divorce but she brings hope to the people of her small town.

Mary Kay Andrews is one of my all-time favorite authors, so I could not wait to read her latest Christmas novella, The Santa Suit! It definitely does not disappoint! It is full of all the little sparks that make Christmas magical: the lights, Christmas trees, snow, a Christmas festival, candy, Santa and Mrs. Claus, family, friends, and love.

The book also introduces a mystery with a happy ending all tied up perfectly with a Christmas bow! What a fabulous addition to the Christmas season! Wrap up in a warm blanket with your hot cocoa, and enjoy The Santa Suit. You will not be disappointed!

Imagine a Hallmark Christmas movie in book form - this is what The Santa Suit is. It's the perfect read for when you need a feel good novel, something to give you hope for the future, and get into the winter holidays spirit.

I liked the mystery of the written note for Santa woven through the story, and the cute romance between Ivy and Ezra, her real estate agent. It's a story of new beginnings, new friendships, new love. It has the small town around Christmas time feel to it, and I am here for this! It's a quick read, and the perfect choice to get you into the Christmas spirit. Or to read for #ChristmasInJuly, to be honest.

This is my first Mary Kay Andrews novel, but I'm seriously thinking of picking some of her others soon.

The characters seem to just jump off the page and are instantly the kind of people you want to surround yourself with. Without a doubt, I seek out everything Mary Kay Andrews writes, and books like this one are exactly why!

I just loved The Santa Suit. I read it during a New England August heat-wave and it instantly brought me to that fuzzy emotional place I seek out every December in Hallmark Christmas movies.
I loved the concept as well, as a divorced woman relocated to a new home in a new town with my dog, as Ivy is with her canine companion Punkin. (No romance for myself with a cute handyman like Ivy shares with Ezra though.)
I also enjoyed the Christmas do-good mystery around the note in the Santa Suit.
Thank you to Mary Kay Andrews and NetGalley for this refreshing yet warm summer read. Five stars.

I loved this heart-warming quick easy read! Ivy Perkins is just getting over being divorced when she buys the Four Roses farmhouse in North Carolina site unseen. She is greeted at her new home by hunky real estate agent Ezra Wheeler. Ivy finds a box in the top of a closet which contains a Santa suit and then she begins to discover the history of the house and its former owners. This book was such a joy to read with all the really wonderful characters and story lines.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this uplifting Christmas romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I love a good Christmas time romance. I loved this sleepy North Carolina town and all of the people in it. I’d like to live here and know some of these folks. Ivy's desire to leave Atlanta and start fresh is just the start of this fiction book!

I received an ebook advanced reader copy of The Santa Suit from NetGalley for my honest review. I have read a few books by Mary Kay Andrews and enjoy holiday books. I was caught up in the story in the first chapter. ivy Perkins is a woman in search of a place for a fresh start. Ezra is her real estate agent. Phoebe is a local girl that befriends her. The Santa suit and Langleys candies seem to create magic in many lives. Treasures found at Four Roses Farm bring joy to so many. Grab a hot chocolate, snuggle by the fire, and escape into this lovely novel. I highly recommend it!

The author's Christmas-themed novella (224 pages) was just the comfort read I needed during these difficult days.

Still reeling from a recent divorce, Ivy moves from Atlanta with her dog and her chickens to a farmhouse, based only on pictures she has viewed online. Little does she know that it will require more than a bit of repair to make the farmhouse livable, or that her furniture is taking an unplanned detour on the moving van. Or that she will need to look for a new employment opportunity that will match her marketing skills. Fortunately, Ivy finds the new people she meets, including her real estate agent/handyman, a soon-to-be-retired candy maker, a young town clerk with wedding plans, and a lonely elderly man, welcoming and encouraging.

The Santa suit of the title was left behind by the farm's previous owner, who played Santa every year for the community, and in its pocket is a poignant letter to Santa from a young girl yearning for her absent father. Ivy makes it her quest to solve the mystery of the letter and, in the process, begins building a new identity and a new "found family."

I loved this delightfully sentimental story, told by a seasoned and talented author.

My thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.

What a sweet, quick, enjoyable short tale to get you into the Christmas Spirit. Lighthearted, quirky characters in a little town with the damsel in distress and the handsome kind real estate agent. Predictable, but it didn’t matter, I enjoyed every minute of it. Even Thelma, Louise, Lavern and Shirley and especially Punkin.
I highly recommend for anyone that wants a good feeling story to take you away from all the daily news.
I received an ARC from St. Martin’s Press along with NetGalley for my honest review. 5 Star Read

Mary Kay Andrew's novels are light but filled with suspense. They are a lighthearted easy read, yet never ever disappointing. "The Santa Suit" kept me up all night reading, and got me into the Christmas spirit already! It is a great book if you are looking for a story to finish in one sitting :)

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews is a delightful, heartwarming story about family, love, loss, and determination. It’s a novella, but it’s packed with great characters, a lovely small town, and a bit of mystery and romance.

Ivy Perkins is determined to start over. After a divorce, and leaving her job, she buys an old farmhouse named the Four Roses sight unseen. When she arrives at the farmhouse she’s dismayed to realize that it’s much more of a fixer-upper than she was lead to believe by the photos. However, also at the farmhouse to greet her is the handsome realtor Ezra.

Ivy finds an old, but, still functional Santa Suit in one of the closets in her new home. She finds out that the previous owners used to play Santa and Mrs. Claus at many events in the town and around. Inside the pocket of the suit, she finds a note, written by a little girl asking if Santa can bring her father home from the war.

This novella has everything you’d expect in a full-length book and I enjoyed it very much. The farmhouse was exquisitely described, and I just want to move into Four Roses despite all the work it needs. Both Ivy and Ezra were well-developed characters, and I loved them both and thought they were perfect for each other. It didn’t take them long to figure that out too, but, it is a novella.

Although a Christmas book, it’s also about connections, and friendships, and love. I didn’t feel like I was hit over the head with Christmas as I have in other Christmas books. This one had just the right amount of Christmas magic in it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a holiday romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Get ready to sit down before a roaring fire, curled up in a blanket with a dog on your lap, a book in your hand and a beverage in the other hand. This lovely story is just what you need to get into the Christmas spirit. It’s only August but I am ready to put up my tree!
The Santa Suit is a quick read, but it has a lot going on: a mysterious note to Santa, a hunky real estate agent, missing people and internet catfishing (ha)
The way all the characters ended up being connected was very heartwarming. Mary Kay Andrews has worked her magic yet again. The novella has everything a Christmas story needs a divorced woman moving to a new town, a run down house, some magic clothes, a bit of mystery, and a lot of love.

I absolutely LOVE MKA and this was a wonderful addition to her books. I love the small-town feel and the sexy neighbor, mixed with the secrets and adventure of buying a house, fixing it up, and finding things in it connected to the past and the people who lived there. I think this is a beautifully written book that explores life after divorce and how life is what you make it. Finding your way through life can be tough, but definitely worth it in the end.
