Sweet, romantic, and full of heart! ♥️ When Sparks Fly was such a great read! Avery and Declan’s story is the perfect mix of friends-to-lovers tension and genuine emotion. I loved the Spark sisters dynamic, but it was the slow-burn shift between best friends to something so much deeper that really pulled me in. Helena Hunting gave us a tender romance with just the right amount of heat and vulnerability. 💕

When Sparks Fly is a heartfelt, steamy friends-to-lovers romance with strong emotional undercurrents. If you enjoy emotionally charged, character-driven stories peppered with wit and chemistry—and don’t mind a few melodramatic twists—this one’s likely for you.

Declan and Avery are best friends who live together and after an accident leaves Avery hurt, it’s up to Declan to step up and take care of her while they battle their buried feelings for each other.

Avery was a really nice protagonist who felt relatable to me. While I’m not as sporty as she is, her struggles with recovery after breaking some limbs is something I understand. She was also genuinely nice. Declan was… fine. As much as I enjoy a hero who pampers, something about him set me on edge. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and when it did, it was hard to forgive his overreaction.

I struggled a lot with this book, mostly because it felt like Avery and Declan’s friendship made more sense to me than their relationship. I didn't feel their chemistry, all their interactions felt forced and unnatural. There is a lot of telling in this book, mixed with uneven pacing making us speed through so many things (like why couldn’t we see Avery return the favor of Declan’s many orgasms?) that it might explain why I felt so disconnected from important events like their first sex scene.

While this book as a whole didn't work for me, I did love Avery's bond with her sisters. It's always nice to see a tightly knit family who can fight and still love each other.

Fun feel good book. Characters are conversational, quirky, quick witted and likeable. A few detailed episodes that were a little more than I was expecting but fairly tolerable. All girls want to find this guy. Fun quick read. I read an advanced reader copy by was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions expressed are my own. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

From best friends to lovers.
Avery and Declan were college friends who decided to buy condo together become roommates. They were best friends and kept their true feelings to themselves until Avery was in a car accident and injured. Avery was injured enough she couldn't move freely by herself so Declan decided to help her out. Things were strictly friends zone until one thing lead to another. Once they were together it was everything both hoped and imagined and more. It suppose to be friends with benefit situation but nothing ever ends that way. They had to really reevaluate if they could still be friends or more.
This was much better friends to lovers story I have read in awhile. I really liked Declan and Avery and their chemistry. It was well done story. I can't wait to read rest of Avery's sisters.

A good book with a cute couple. Their story has a great building, and it is nice to meet all the side characters.

"When Sparks Fly" offers an engaging blend of romance and humor. The characters have charming moments, creating a relatable connection for readers, but some may find their development a bit predictable and the plot line somewhat clichéd. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, and several witty exchanges bring light to the story. However, the pacing occasionally drags, especially in the middle chapters, which can detract from the overall enjoyment.

While it's a pleasant read for those looking for a light-hearted romance, it may not leave a lasting impression. Fans of the genre will likely appreciate the familiarity of the narrative, with a friends-to-lovers trope... making it a solid choice for a leisurely afternoon read, but don’t expect it to break new ground in the romance category. Overall, "When Sparks Fly" is entertaining, but it falls just short of being truly memorable.

This is a perfect fit for readers who adore lighthearted, emotional, and humorous romances that explore the ups and downs of friends-to-lovers relationships, caregiver dynamics, and the thrill of forbidden attraction, all set against a backdrop of forced proximity and second chances.

Did I think this was Helena's best book she wrote? No I didn't. Did I still enjoy it? Yes I did! When reading a friends to lovers book, it always seems a little predictable to me and unfortunately that is exactly what I felt when reading this book. I still thought it was an enjoyable and cute read.

This was a fun book, rather predictable but had alot of fun elements to it. I would like to read the other books in this series.

Thank you for a review copy of this book. This book was amazing!!!! I loved me a good friends-to-lovers story and this one checked very box for me! I loved how the author explored the concepts around a friend group as well as how those dynamics change when some of the friends become more. I enjoyed the development of their relationship from friends-to-lovers. It was slow and angsty. I also liked how it was not a smooth transition, but had some bumps along the way. I believe that made it more realistic for the reader. The pacing and writing were well done. I just flew through this book and finished it in less than a day! Overall, I would recommend this book and I will be looking forward to more books to this series!

Look, I don't like hurt-comfort or groveling, but this was bad. Avery's not like other girls, and spends almost the whole book disparaging and insulting the hero. There was no emotion

This was such a fun read but I also felt it brought a lot of other emotions in the story as well. It tugged at my heartstrings, made me laugh out loud and i really enjoyed the witty banter.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience. Note: I ended up purchasing a final copy to read in the future.
