I am always on the hunt for yummy new recipes and Low Carb Yum Simple Keto Meals for Beginners definitely provides some great ones.

I've been gluten-free for over 10 years now and am always on the hunt for new recipes. You know, because I cook a lot! While don't eat strictly Keto, I do love looking at recipes for inspiration. Plus, I have a bunch of family and friends that are on a keto diet and it's great to be able to have an arsenal of yummy recipes on the ready for if they pop by.

One of the drawbacks of my diet (because I have a huge intolerance for gluten) is the lack of anything deep-fried. The author provides recipes for breading and cooking in the oven and I love the concept of using crushed pork rinds as an added flavor enhancer to the "breading" or as part of mixing into a recipe. Yum! So flipping good. I made a few recipes for New Year's Eve and they were just delish!

I'm a huge fan of any recipe books that provide the overall nutritional values and possible macro breakdowns per meal so it can help get an idea of how light or heavy the meal is. Plus all the beautiful pictures, and well, let's say I was enthused to make more than one dish. I felt the instructions and ingredients were fairly simple. I had good results from the ones I did try and I'm really hopeful for future tries as well. I do wish there were more pictures, but that's typically my complaint with most recipe books.

I recommend this for those looking into or who are already on a ketogenic diet.

Low Carb Yum Simple Keto Meals for Beginners is a great starter book to get into eating a diet the Keto way. I've had some Keto Meals over the past few years but not stuck to it yet due to time, finances and being a full-time working single parent. This book have me lots of new recipe ideas to try out that didn't seem all that time consuming to make. The recipes range from breakfast, meat, fish, vegetarian and deserts.
I enjoyed the introduction to the book which was straight forward and easy to understand compared to more advanced books I have read.
I just wish there had been photographs of each dish within the book not just the odd one per section.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me check out some good recipes to inspire me in the New Year!

Of the two cookbooks I have recently checked out from Netgalley to aid in my diabetes management, this one was far superior to the cookbook that was specifically made for diabetics. I also follow the author on Tiktok, so I was looking forward to seeing what recipes made the cut.
The first section of the book touches on the basics of a keto diet, and while it wasn't particularly helpful knowledge for me she did a great job covering what I know is important in the keto diet such calories, carbs, how to meal plan, and how to stock your keto pantry. Once you have a nice pantry of keto supplies, it makes life so much easier for following this meal plan. She even touches on how to maximize your food storage, what ingredients you absolutely need, and even what sugar substitutes work best. As an avid sugar free baker, I am definitely holding on to her substitution chart.
The next section covers sample meal plans made with her recipes, and all the nutrition breakdowns. I wouldn't personally follow a meal plan like this, but for the beginner it can be really helpful to see everything broken down easily, and it does a good job of not being too repetitive of meals. I personally don't want to be eating the same breakfast every single day!
Working our way into the recipe sections they all are very aware of the most popular keto ingredients such as xantham gum, coconut flour, and a wide variety of seeds. The breakfasts are a variety of egg dishes, sweets, and savories. There's also a nice variety of bread recipes, which can be a challenging thing to find success in at the beginning of a low carb diet. The appetizer and snack section makes me want to have a party! The avocado fingers, onion rings. and coconut shrimp all feel like they shouldn't be allowed on keto. The soups are beyond basic and include shrimp bisque, and sausage gumbo. Yum! All of which seem to be nicely seasoned. My favorite chunk of this cookbook is the sections based on your protein of choice. So often my family has toe base the dinner choice on the fact we only have chicken left in the freezer. In this book you can easily pop over to the chicken section and not be too bummer out that you don't have beef.

Life is too short to not have the foods you enjoy! This low carb cook book can bring a little more joy back to your eating:)

Just when I thought I was running out of ideas for keto meals, this book has helped me find different options. Super easy meals, fast to make especially after working all day. My kiddos have enjoyed everything I have made.

A lot of good, easy recipes to add low carb keto meals to your day. Many of these recipes are very do-able, as it they are easy to add to your daily life without a lot of hassle. Thank you Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to review.

I feel that this would be a fantastic resource for a beginner to the Keto lifestyle that I hope to do this year.

I love that it gives a complete nutritional values breakdown, the recipes seem very easy and straightforward and use mostly easy to access ingredients and nothing too unusual.

I will definitely be reaching for this one when I begin my journey to a healthy lifestyle.

I loved Lisa's first book Low Carb Yum 5-ingredient keto so much that I actually pre-ordered this book in March. I am super excited about this book because the majority of the recipes are 2 servings. My husband and I get tired of eating the same leftovers for days in a row so this book ensures we don't have to.

Looking forward to trying as many recipes as we can (I have a tree nut allergy so sometimes I am too lazy to figure out substitutions for almond flour/milk).

Food blogger Lisa MarcAurele has created a cookbook of simple, low-carb recipes using accessible ingredients. The book starts with a brief explanation of the ketogenic diet and tips on topics such as weight loss, stocking your pantry, and food storage. She also includes two sample weekly food plans. The rest of the book consists of over 125 low-carb recipes in categories such as breakfast, breads, soups, sides, and main dishes.

If you’re not used to eating a gluten-free or low-carb diet, you may need to purchase a few basics, such as almond flour, flax seed meal, and monk fruit sweetener, but these shouldn’t be too hard to find. Most of these recipes could be made with ingredients I already had on hand.

The recipes are clearly written with helpful notes and include number of servings, prep and cook time, and basic nutrition information (very helpful for those of us who have to count carbs). Many of the recipes are designed for 2 servings, which I found convenient.

I’ve tried quite a few of the recipes, with mostly good results. The Quick Blueberry Muffins had an unusual texture, but made a quick and relatively tasty treat. The Korean Beef was a little too sweet for me as written, but so easy to make. I look forward to making it again with just a little less sweetener and more spice. The Chicken Marsala was simple and delicious. The Filipino Pancit was wonderful. The Sautéed Green Beans & Mushrooms were very good, and the Braised Brussels Sprouts are one of our new favorites.

This cookbook offers helpful guidance for those who are new to the keto diet or just need some new ideas for low-carb recipes. With the nutrition info provided, this could also be a good choice for diabetics.

I was provided an ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review.

Low Carb Yum Simple Keto Meals for Beginners is a how-to keto guide with recipes by Lisa MarcAurele. Due out 28th Dec 2021 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on their Mariner imprint, it's 256 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

The introduction covers the basics of the keto lifestyle/diet, including a basic primer on ketosis, macronutrients, tips, ingredients, tools, supplies, how-to figure nutritional needs and planning to achieve weight loss.

The following chapters include the recipes arranged roughly by category: breakfast, breads (!!!), appetizers & snacks, soups & salads, side dishes, beef, poultry, pork, seafood, meatless dishes, and desserts. The table of contents lists each recipe by name along with page location.

Ingredient measurements are supplied in American standard measurements only. The prep times, net carbs, servings, and tips and options are listed in well laid out sidebars. The ingredients are listed in a bullet list followed by step by step directions. Special categories (nut-free, paleo friendly, vegetarian, etc) are clearly marked on each recipe. Nutritional information is included in a text box at the end of each recipe and includes: calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium, carbs, fiber, sugar, protein, net carbs, and carbs, protein and fat by percentage weight.

The ingredients will be readily accessible for most readers and can be found at any well stocked grocery store. There are very few exceptions and those can be sourced online or at health food stores (xanthan gum, granular monkfruit sweetener, and a couple others). One thing I noticed is that the recipes tend to be heavy on animal proteins. There *are* vegetarian options, but they're not plentiful. Many of the dishes also seemed a bit high on the calorie count for a book which is ostensibly about keto diet in regards to weight loss.

Four stars. I really like (and use) this cookbook. One codicil, only roughly 20% of the recipes are accompanied by photographs. The dishes and serving suggestions which are pictured are attractive and appropriate, however.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

The recipes in this book look very delicious and easy to make, the beginning of the book was very informative, and there were pictures of all the recipes. I would have given 5 stars, but the format of the book was a little hard to figure out what recipe went with what picture. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

You will be saying Low Carb Yum after looking through this keto (and sometimes also paleo and vegan) cookbook.

There are more than 125 recipes for all manner of meals included. All recipes are for one or two servings. They are easy to make and take around 30 minutes or less to make.

There are twelve recipes for breakfast food alone. I made the Mini Ham & Broccoli Frittatas, which were delicious. The desserts include Fudgy Brownies and Carrot Mug Cakes, which both sound very Low Carb Yum. There are also chapters for main and side dishes, soups and salads, as well as appetizers. The book also includes twelve recipes for breads including a chaffle and tortillas.

If you follow a keto diet, Low Carb Yum is an excellent cookbook full of easy to prepare recipes. My only complaint is that I wish every recipe had a picture. 4 stars!

Thanks to Houghton Miffin Harcourt and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I found this Low Carb Lego meals cookbook very well written and easy to follow along, yummy recipes.

The recipes in this book are good, but the format is unusual, almost as if the steps are out of order. The meals are portioned for one or two people but can easily be increased for family meals or meal prep. The majority of them seem relatively simple to make with ingredients that are already on hand. Someone who doesn't do a lot of cooking may want to start with something more basic but it's not a bad resource for an intermediate cook.

I would say this book is a good start for the keto diet. The book has simple recipes and outlines an optional meal plan to utilize. There are some ingredients that most people don't have in their cupboard, such as almond flour, but if you're really looking to start the keto diet you'll probably need to buy these ingredients anyway.

I think it is misleading to put the word simple into the title of this book. I flipped through and recognized very quickly that most recipes required special ingredients that most people don't have on hand. I did try some of the recipes myself and found them to be tasty enough, but I disagree with the implication that this book is suitable for those new to the keto lifestyle.

I try to follow a low carb diet and found the Keto way really helps. The recipes in this cookbook are great catalysts for trying new recipes and some old favorites in a new way. You don’t have to give up foods that you enjoy. Simply make some substitutions, and you’ll consume less carbs. It is the healthy way to eat!

Lisa MarcAurele is the blogger behind the popular keto-friendly recipe site lowcarbyum.com. I've used her website and previously published book titled Low Carb Yum 5 Ingredient Keto over the last year and all the recipes are very good, easy to make, and the ingredients are basic which I look for in a cookbook. I was super excited to see that she has a new cookbook coming out and had to get my hands on it to give it a try before it was published!

I want to say upfront that I do not follow a keto diet, but I am always looking for healthy low-carb recipes to make! This book did not disappoint. If you are wanting/doing a low-carb keto diet, there is a lot of good information on the how's and why's of keto in this book. For everybody else, you will find mouth-watering recipes such as the ones I tested like the granola bars and breakfast cookies. I love a quick breakfast and these were easy to make and take on the go. I also have been wanting to try chaffles because I have heard so much about them. Well, the chaffle recipe is a keeper according to my family and will be replacing waffles going forward! What?!? I never thought anything could replace my love of waffles!!! And....have you ever used radishes instead of potatoes in your recipes? Me neither, but I gave it a try and I am now a believer! It was so delicious and I couldn't tell the difference.

If you think that keto eating is boring, you will be pleasantly surprised at how tasty these recipes turn out! The book is full of scrumptious recipes and even your picky eaters will be won over by the pleasing-to-the-eye photos! This would make a great Christmas present for the food-lovers on your list!!

I’m not following a keto diet but I do try to eat low-carb most days. This cookbook is a great starting point for anyone wanting to try keto. There are tons tips and tools in the beginning of the book. Make sure you read through before you even look at the recipes will get you ready to start your keto journey. Tons of sample meal plans if you feel anxious about doing it yourself.

The recipes do call for some uncommon ingredients but should be easy enough to get. Also they will be extremely necessary to succeed with the recipes. Not many swap outs available.

The pictures that are in the book look incredible.

This book is great! It breaks things down easily and doesn't require a TON of ingredients like other cookbooks do. I've already made a couple of the recipes - the Chaffles were great but I do wish there were some other varieties for flavor in here. It's a great base though and I've started adding things like SF Maple Syrup to spice it up! I also made the chicken marsala and loved it - it was so easy and I would definitely make it again. My fiancé is not keto and he loved it as well! Can't wait to try some more recipes!
