Thank you Net Galley for a digital copy of this book in return for an honest review. I am somewhat adventurous with cooking over the campfire, but this cookbook has so many interesting ideas and reasonable to execute recipes that I can't wait to try!

The sections on getting set up and then cooking various kinds of foods, from breakfast to mains and desserts and drinks are smartly packaged. Everything looks delicious and is beautifully photographed. I can see using some of these at home, not just on adventures. I also appreciate that although some would never fly with my picky kid, many would be right up his alley.

I own several cookbooks by Linda Ly, who specializes in outdoor cooking. They are all excellent, and The Ultimate Outdoor Cookbook: All-Day Meals and Drinks for Backyard Entertaining and Elevated Camping Fare is no exception. Ly has an imagination and is an expert on coming up with unique and mouthwatering recipes that can easily be prepared outdoors.

There is a helpful chapter on setting up an outdoor kitchen, which includes campfires, camp stoves, and grills of different kinds, as well as cooking safely outdoors and cooking at high altitudes. Then this book goes on to present mouthwatering recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. The breakfast dishes are especially appealing (if you don’t happen to be going camping, you’ll want to make them in your backyard), and include yummy dishes like Blueberry Skillet Scones with Lemon Glaze, and Grilled French Toast and Bacon Bites – Yum! This cookbook also includes fabulous appetizers, grilled steaks, specialties like skirt steak tacos. There are recipes for Jambalaya and Gumbo made in a Dutch oven, and also yummy corn chowder. Included are also pasta dishes, vegetable dishes, and salads. The Brunch Pizza is a great dish for everyone in the family.

I love the chapter on foil packets- they are fun, and everyone seems to love them. The Foil Pack French Dip is at the top of my personal queue, as well as Shrimp in Spicy Coconut Sauce. Ly also includes dishes cooked in cast iron as well as Dutch ovens

All told, this is another excellent cookbook by Linda Ly. It contains excellent, mouthwatering recipes that are presented in the traditional manner and are easy-to-follow. The photographs are beautiful, and make it difficult to decide what to make next. Almost everyone will find several recipes that they want to make and eat. Highly Recommended for a good recipe collection. This one will be used often.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I am always looking to expand my family's menu....new recipes are always welcome. This book focuses on cooking outdoors with minimal prep and cleanup, which every cook can enjoy. The recipes were clearly written, easy to follow and best of all, delicious. THE ULTIMATE OUTDOOR COOKBOOK is a great book for every skill level.

Beautiful layouts of outdoor recipes. "Ultimate" seems a bit presumptuous for a fairly short cookbook. Also these are clearly intended to be made at home, not while camping, which I falsely presumed from the title it would be aimed towards. Recipes are good though.

So many great recipes in this book! We are outdoor cooking enthusiasts, so have a bit of experience cooking outdoors, but there were many included here that we've never tried or thought to do.

I really liked this cookbook and I will definitely be making some of the recipes out of it when I get my grill! I think a lot of these would be good if adapted to make inside on the stove or oven, as well.

If you are an outdoors or person who enjoys camping for any length of time, this is the right book for you. The recipes were simple enough to follow for most people who don't bring their entire kitchen in their backpack while not limiting you to the same 5 types of food or combinations. I'm a sucker for good photography in cookbooks and this book had an array of beautiful photos that invited you to take a step outside and try a new 'cooking' adventure. This would also be a wonderful gift for any friend who enjoys the outdoors or wants to try something new, especially as more people are exploring the outdoors right now.

The Ultimate Outdoor Cookbook is exactly just that. It helps you get the basic camp cooking setup. Then has a range of recipes to ensure that the food you make adds to the whole experience. there are sections for cooking over an open fire, on a BBQ grill, Dutch Oven and also smoking. Just imagine yourself camping on a beautiful beach, eating Clambake or Jumbo Creole Shrimp washed down with Vanilla and Bourbon Mulled Cider or Whiskey- Spiked Sweet Tea. Camping food will never be the same!

This is a great book because it covers every meal over the campfire or on the grill. No matter what your cooking method it's here including using live fire, grills, foil packs, cast iron pans, dutch ovens, planchas, and some with a smoker. The pictures are beautiful and helpful. Most of the recipes use common ingredients and are easy to follow. Great gift for father's day. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love this book. Truly, I've already noted several recipes for my upcoming trip and everything is clearly written with beautiful pictures of what the end product should look like. The recipes are creative enough that we won't be eating hot dogs and oatmeal everyday, but they don't require a ton of ingredients, and some prep work can be done at home. Good for car camping and shorter backpacking trips depending on how heavy a pack someone is willing to carry.

The recipes are well developed and I absolutely cannot wait to try them all out!

This is a lovely book, great information about planning, safety and how to organise things. Lovely interesting dishes with good photos and easy to follow, I think having cup measurements is good as you can easily take those but less likely to take weighing scales. Not your usual camping food, so many I want to try out, sound modern, inventive and delicious. Will have this to hand this summer for sure! Thank you for the copy I will recommend this book for sure.

My fiancé and I love camping and spending time outdoors so I was thrilled to get my hands on this ARC! I love how it was broken up by category and I love the chapter about foil packs, that is a true favorite of ours and I was so happy to get some additional inspiration!! Some of these seemed a little involved upon reading the title of the recipe and seeing the photo BUT I quickly realized that with proper prep you can totally master these wherever you are cooking outdoors! I loved this cookbook and recommend for anyone who enjoys camping or cooking outdoors looking for some unique options!!

This book was received as an ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

All of the recipes in this book look absolutely delicious. This could not have come at a better time in planning our first outdoor cooking demo and I got a lot of great ideas for our four course feast. I can not wait to try these recipes. I know I am going to love the grilled lobster tails with scampi scallion butter. the filet of salmon with herbed butter. The blueberry pancakes, and of course the Dutch oven Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler that I know will be a big hit with our community and they will be loving everything and wanting more.

We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Mixed feelings. Seemed like it was more geared to backyard cooking than camping, but focused mainly on open fire rather than grills. Not sure I could utilize most of the recipes.

Filled with nice photography and good ideas for camping meals. I appreciated the section at the beginning the most, regarding how to build a fire, understanding coals, food safety, dish washing, and bear safety. This was the most helpful section. The rest of the book is more like a normal cookbook. I know how to cook indoors, but was hoping for more insight and hints on how to do prep work, food storage and cooking outdoors. Also was hoping for more meat-less meals as seafood and meat are often the first thing to spoil and coolers are more unreliable. I liked how the sections seemed to be partially broken down by cooking gear/method (ie. fire cooking, dutch oven cooking, grilling, etc.). Overall, it was worth reading for the knowledge in the first sections, but the actual recipe section didn't leave me feeling particularly prepared, empowered, or inspired.

Excellent camping or outdoor cookbook with so many helpful fire starter tips and more. The recipes had pictures and the most fascinating part that I will use forever is the section on cooking the foil meals and foods.
