Loved this book! Perfect characters, perfect setting and perfect mystery. This is begging to be made into a tv show or mini movie! This was my first Lisa Jewel and certainly will not be my last!
After reading and loving None Of This Is True I decided that I had to go back and read any Lisa Jewell books that I'd missed out. When I started reading The Night She Disappeared, I have to admit that I wasn't 100% sold - I think it was just that the beginning of the book, and the scenes recounting what happened before Tallulah went missing, had a lot of unlikeable characters that I found were hard to relate to. However, when the narrative shifted to the present day and Sophie was introduced, suddenly something clicked for me. I really enjoyed these present day scenes and her investigation into the missing teenagers. Overall I thought that the plot was unexpected, it was definitely twisty and entertaining but I couldn't get behind the characters enough to give it the full five stars.
Lisa Jewell at her very best. This author really is at the top of her game and climbing higher still!
This one has sinister undertones from the start. You just know everyone's hiding something, but what? And who holds the key to what actually happened to Tallulah?
Brilliant, unputdownable reading!
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
Lisa Jewell just gets better. I felt myself rushing to read the page just to be able to find out what was going to happen next. Really felt for Owen where everything just went so wrong. There was just so much depth to this story. It was one of those books where you don’t want the end to come as you want to see how life continues
I read this in one sitting. I am a fan of Lisa Jewell's work. However, this is one of her finest reads. I could not put it down. It just clicked with me, and it was one sitting. This is not something I do very often. Normally I really in short bursts. However, I have marked it down for a re-read in a couple of months. When I will take my time and savour the pages. Definitely work checking out.
I am a big fan of Lisa Jewell, right back to Ralph's party and I am liking the change in writing she is now doing. The story takes a lot of twists and turns and I enjoyed the way that it was told with going back in the past and then to the present day. Throughout the book I changed my thinking of what was going to happen and it did keep me guessing till the end.
The only criticism that I would have is that it's not very believable that the police just gave up the search and it wasn't until a crime writer started doing questioning things that the mystery was eventually solved.
I think this is the first book I have read by Lisa Jewell, and at this point, all I can say is that I regret not having read any sooner!
This tense psychological thriller was gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat.
The story is told in two different time periods - 2017 when we follow Tallulah in her intense journey as a young mother trying to go back to college after having her baby, and 2019 when we follow Sophie, a mystery novel writer as she tries to uncover the truth about what really happened to Tallulah.
As someone who reads a lot of psychological thriller novels (and watches psychological thriller films and TV series), I tend to be harsh when reviewing them. But this book was brilliant. I devoured it in less than a day because I just could not seem to put it down once I picked it up. The story was fast-paced and twisty, so I did not predict the ending. It might just be me, but I'm always disappointed when I can predict the ending of a mystery. I love a good twist.
If you enjoy this genre, I definitely recommend this novel! I can't wait to read more by Lisa Jewell.
Nice to get completely engrossed in a proper page-turner. Enough twists and turns to keep you hooked throughout, and just as you think you've figured it out, there's another.
This was somehow my first Lisa Jewell book, but I'll definitely know to turn to her work when I'm fancying a good thriller!

Many thanks to the publisher for the eARC, in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
Lisa Jewell is one of my favourite auto-buy authors — I’ve read many of her other books and enjoyed them all, The Night She Disappeared was no exception.
This character-driven thriller is deftly plotted and nicely paced with plenty of twists and turns along the way. The short, snappy chapters helped to heighten the feeling of suspense and kept me eagerly turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and immersed until the very end.
An excellent, twisty read.
Lisa Jewell is a hit or miss for me and when I started reading it I thought about this to be another child goes missing- mother desperately tries to find her-story. But this turned out different since Tallulah, who goes missing, is a mother herself. And Kim, her mother, does not want to believe, that her daughter just had too much and went away.
This story is about two very strong women, and the dual timeline was, like always, a pleasure for me to read.
Thanks #NetGalley #Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for this ARC
Fantastic thriller, I flew through this as it went back and forth between the 2 timelines weaving the story together.
We start with Kim who is babysitting her teenage daughters child as her and her boyfriend have a date night but the next morning they still haven't returned which is very out of character. The case eventually goes cold with no evidence but it opens back up when a mystery writer moves to the area and she starts investigating.
There are so many twists in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I will read any Lisa Jewell thriller now.
When Talullah and her boyfriend disappear following a night at the local pub, theories are explored. Did they elope? Did they meet foul play?
This book was next level brilliant! Told from multiple POV's, it did start off as a slow burn - but then I was hooked and could not put it down.
Lisa Jewell is the master of twists and turns - story lines that will keep you up all night thinking long after you've put the book down.
I went into this book blind - without reading the blurb or any spoiler reviews - I highly recommend you do the same.

I think this is quite possibly the most perfect, mysterious, thriller!! I felt every emotion, I was kept guessing as to who was, and wasn't involved. And that epilogue. I thought this was going to be a long review but I don't have much more to say other than read this, its PERFECT!
This was a masterpiece. I absolutely loved it. It had everything I love: great characters, intriguing setting, hints of history, multiple timelines, secret passageways... omg! Now I'm off to read everything by Lisa Jewell that I can get my hands on. What a writer!
Having had a baby as a teenager and returned to school, Tallulah has had to grow up quickly and mature much faster than other girls her age. With that in mind, her mother, Kim, has no hesitation in babysitting for her one evening while she and her boyfriend go out with some friends. When they do not return, Kim raises the alarm.
A year later, a new Head Teacher starts at the school and clues start to mysteriously appear. Was everything as it seemed?
This is a fantastic thriller which will keep you guessing.
Dark thriller that had you hooked from the off. The book was very well written. Great plot. Very exciting. Fast paced to get your heart racing. Loved this book
Lisa Jewell is a writing legend in my mind. Spanning 2 clearly defined timelines, we see the aftermath of Tallulah going missing and her story and run up to that fateful night. It builds a great story looking at her relationships and builds such intensity.
Where do I start? This is an amazing thriller quite simply. The plot twists and turns like an angry snake and I had no idea what was going to happen pretty much up to the end.
I loved how all the characters came together, how you read about the events of “that night”. And how the present day works things out.
If you like a book that keeps you gripped to the end, that you can’t put down, and of course a mystery then I highly recommend this.
