Mattie, Robo and the gang are back for a new adventure. Mattie hopes to find out who killed her father and to prove he was not a bad cop. When she gets to the prison with a detective they find he has been murdered with poison. They find a map with x’s along a trail by Mattie’s town so they head back to check the area out. They find bones and drugs, also nearby a dead body is found which has also died of the same drug. Can it be just a coincidence or are the two deaths related?

I enjoy the Deputy Mattie Cobb series very much and Striking Range Margaret Mizushima by is the seventh. Mattie is in the process of having her name changed from Cobb to Wray, her original family name. Mattie is hopeful to receive some answers about her father's death in a scheduled interview at the prison with John Cobb. He had drugged, kidnapped, and tried to kill Mattie six months prior. Mattie is meeting with Detective Jim Hauck who has arranged this meeting.
While Mattie is at the prison a happier event is happening back in Timber Creek. Dr. Walker is delivering Sassy and Robo's puppies! There is a bit of a problem, so an emergency C-section is required. Eight puppies are delivered, four boys and four girls
The action is non-stop after a beautiful young mother is found dead in one of the parks. The theme of baby trafficking is sad and one that takes an unexpected turn. Mattie is dividing her time between working with Stella trying to find the missing baby and the identity of a murderer and the search back up Redstone Ridge where more danger is waiting. Mattie fears Cole may be at risk, and she takes Robo to try and track another killer!
Striking Range has many twists and unexpected turns that kept me intrigued!

Seventh in the series

San Diego cold case detective Jim Hauck heads to Colorado state prison to interview inmate John Cobb. He is accompanied by deputy Mattie Cobb who hopes to question the inmate about the death of her birth father. Unfortunately, the inmate is discovered dead in his cell. The investigation into the inmate's death leads to the discovery of a map that leads Mattie and her K-9 partner Robo back to Redstone Ridge.
While investigating spots marked on the map, Mattie and Robo are called back when a young woman is found dead and her infant is missing. As more information and dead bodies are found, it becomes apparent that John Cobb was somehow involved.
It becomes a race against time to find the missing infant and uncover the other participants of the crimes.

Wonderful addition to the series - looking forward to #8. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC.

I thoroughly enjoy this series, however I did find the "connections" that were made in this version just a tad unbelievable. Love the way the book ended.

I've enjoyed other books in this series so I was excited to receive an ARC of the newest book. This one has the same solid characters but the writing didn't flow quite as easily/smoothly in the beginning as in earlier books. It seemed to rely on some overly detailed filler in several situations but then soon snapped back into the author's brisk writing style by chapter three or four. Good people solving difficult problems:BA favorite genre. If you like small towns, search and rescue, and/or small town policing, pick up this book. I'm a sucker for catching the bad guys, especially if strong willed females characters are involved.

There's one cold case Deputy Mattie Cobb can't let go of; the murder of and accusations against her father, Douglas Wray. Her partner, K-9 German Shepherd Robo. Her ally from San Diego, Detective Jim Hauck. The backdrop; the wilds of Colorado.

Mixed up in the mystery of the past is the kidnapping of Mattie and her family when she was a toddler. Two brothers, John and Harold Cobb (not related--with a somewhat confusing back-story) were the kidnappers back then.

When Mattie and the detective go to interview JohnCobb in prison, there's a lockdown and murder inside! She knows in her bones that solving her father's murder is involved somehow, but the more they dig, the darker things become. Something is terribly wrong.

A more recent trauma shadows and whispers to Mattie. She was kidnapped and nearly killed, and her brother was murdered. Right here on the mountain. And now a girl is missing.

Local veterinarian and boyfriend of Deputy Mattie Cobb is Cole. Widowed father, patient, helpful, and supportive. Everything Mattie needs. Plus, he's a great asset in the mountains and while investigating.

This story is a "clean" (with minor swearing) healthy mix of murder mystery, police investigation, K-9 handling, mountain adventure, exploration of personal trauma, and good people working together. There's poison somewhere, but stick with Mattie and you'll discover the truth.

Margaret Mizushima has hit another home run, as she does with every mystery in her Detective Mattie Cobb/Robo series. Mizushima's characters are skillfully and endearingly developed, and once you start one of her books, you can't put it down. The plots are inventive and imaginative, the Colorado high country setting is described with attention to detail and obvious appreciation on the part of the author, and the various dogs in the mix, (especially Robo, Mattie's police dog) enrich the cast of characters. Whenever Mizushima comes out with another in her series, I'm torn between reading the entire book in one day with absolute delight or rationing the time I spend on the book to stretch the enjoyment. Either way, I hope Mizushima's books just keep coming.

The only bad thing about finishing a Margaret Mizushima book, is having to wait for the next installment of Maddie and Robo's story. The locale and the characters are well drawn and make this an easy book to recommend.

Another great installment in the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery – Will Mattie get a chance to talk to John Cobb, will she be able to clear her father’s name? Cole, his family, puppies, new born babies, running in the mountains (makes me out of breath just reading it!)
Once again a book that kept me up past my bedtime. Looking forward to book 8!
Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for an early read.

This is number 7 in the Timber Creek K-9 Series. I recommend reading them in order!!

The book is about police officer Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner, Robo. Mattie is finally going to interview the man John Cobb who tried to kill her and may have been involved with the murder of her birth father. Although she relieve to finally get answers and is safe from him it’s short lived when John is found dead in his cell..

I have loved every book in this series. This book ties up some loose ends from previous stories and has some unexpected twists and turns.
I definitely recommend reading this series!!!

Timber Creek K-9 Series – Book # 7
An enjoyable book. Deputy Mattie Cobb has recently survived an attempt on her life. She tries to interview suspect #1, but he is killed while she is waiting at the prison to interview him. Non-stop action with well-developed and interesting characters. I want to go back and read the pervious books while waiting for the next installment of this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The views expressed are my own.#StrikingRange #NetGalley

You don’t want to miss this installment of the Timber Creek k-9 mysteries. Mattie and her k-9 partner Robo are going full speed looking for a missing baby while she continues to search for answers in the cold case of her fathers death. The missing baby case takes them on a chase in the vast mountains where Mattie had previously been kidnapped. Their team work and silent communication is what will keep them alive while they search for answers and a dear loved one.
I highly recommend this book and all the previous Mattie and Robo stories. You won’t be disappointed.

Loved this book! I've been following Mattie and Cole and their friends now for quite some time and every book I get pulled deeper and deeper in. Robo is my hero and I adored reading about him and the other animals that take the stage as I read more and more. I hope to have a horse like Mountaineer and a dog like Robo, or as close as possible. I think you'll love this book and series just as much as I do.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Deputy Mattie is finally going to interview the man John Cobb who tried to kill her and may have been involved with the murder of her birth father. Although she relieve to finally get answers and is safe from him it’s short lived when in time for the interview John is found dead in his cell. As they investigate his death there only one clue a map that has Mattie and K-9 Robo leading them to part of a forest surrounding Redstone Ridge.

As they start to get into investigating to try find why John had this map they are called back when a young woman is found and her infant baby is missing as they race to try find the baby Mattie starts to wonder wether what she was investigating before this may be connected but she has more things to worry about when Cole goes missing as she and her team are stretch to limit will she able to stop the killing plan before it’s to late.

This was great twist and turns mystery with a strong female lead.
