Home is supposed to be a refuge, a place where you feel safe, but for Leigh Harker, the truth is just the opposite. She has begun to feel her house is haunted, possessed, that something resides there. Things move around on their own, electronics are glitchy and she’s seen a dark figure watching her at night. A rational woman, Leigh sets out to uncover the history of her home, perhaps something in it’s past will provide the answers she so desperately needs. Coates is the 21st century queen of horror and her fans will not be disappointed with her latest story

An amazingly convoluted and complicated Horror novel, THE HAUNTING OF LEIGH HARKER had a seemingly slow start intended to be scary. However, after a short duration I found myself getting into the story, a benefit because I soon became entwined and couldn't stop reading until I'd finished. Very complex, and in some ways, remarkably scary; in other ways sad (specifically the interpersonal relations of the two main characters, not with each other, but in one case with coworkers and neighbors, in the other with family of origin and later extended family). Surprising denouements throughout.
