This was a great first thriller from the author. I liked how the influencer trend was added and it wasn't annoying. A little easy to expect the twists but overall good.

This was a slow burn of a book. It didn’t have a whole lot of action or any thrills. The biggest twist was the end, but you could see it coming if you followed some of the clues!

It wasn’t the best book I’ve read this year, but it wasn’t the worst. I found myself skipping paragraphs because it got quite repetitive.

It was an ok read, nothing to write home about.

Okay okay okay. This was so fun. I liked this one more than I thought I would, that’s for sure. Especially the character work in this book. Fantastic!

INFLUENCED is the story of two women. One at the peak of her life, the other trying to get her life back on track. Having made her fame as a media influencer, Rowan will pull Hannah into her circle where they will live in the fast lane until faced with a police investigation where they are the stars. Fast paced, Eva Robinson has developed these two characters into the faces you see on the news every day. Their lives are full of the glamour they both wished for in college, but now they must face the fact that someone wants them to fade into the background, quickly. Not necessarily a unique plot line, but Robinson gives a couple of tugs and twists in the right places and the ending will surprise you.

Hannah is an unemployed psychologist in need of a job and her old friend, Rowan is an Instagram star in need of a lifestyle makeover. The two women meet up and there is an unexplained death. Who dies, and whodunnit..... This was an addicting read with an end I didn't see coming.

The book starts with a murder that sets the stage for mystery. Told from the POV's of Hannah and Rowan, it keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering who's murder did the book start with. Both Hannah and Rowan are strange characters each having their quirks that keeps you guessing on what is really going on with either of them, and gives you a glimpse of how seductive social media can become. Loved the ending, did not guess correctly on who was the villian in the story. For psychological reader fans, this book hits all the points.

I shouldn’t have requested this and I’m not the audience it was intended for most certainly. The whole social influencer thing is not from my generation. I don’t care what an online stranger likes or why I should. So please take this with a grain of salt…

The story was too long, disjointed and had a bit too much going on. I didn’t care for the characters. I needed to see how it would wrap up though so I did finish it. So I guess it wasn’t that bad just not for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for a copy in exchange for a review.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. This author is new to me but I was very impressed (one might even say influenced) by the story, enthralled from the start and guessing until almost the end. The book starts with a murder from the POV of the unidentified victim, then jumps back in time to relay the story of what led to that point. It was fascinating because I was never quite sure who was the victim. POV changed often but was easy to follow and never confusing.

The writing was good, with one particular line that made me crack up. Rowan refers to someone: “He’s like the margarine sandwich of humans.” The dialogue was authentic, mostly, and texting was realistic, with just the kind of errors you’d expect from someone rushing or distracted.

In regard to dialogue, I must point out that Nora, Hannah’s daughter, was both annoying and unrealistic. She was always yelling things, and though she sometimes used big words, she seldom used verbs. My impression was that this was the dialogue of a person unfamiliar with the real-life language of toddlers. She was demanding and bratty and spoke like an adult trying to sound like a child. Other than that, descriptions were lifelike and characters were relatable. Overall, the story and the writing were excellent. I definitely recommend this book.

This was a very intense story bringing in our current state of social media. It was very suspenseful and well written. We watch as Hannah’s life spirals out of control.
Many thanks to BookBuzznet and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Influenced by Eva Robinson.

After Hannah quits her job as a psychologist, she is in search of a more glamorous way to make money for herself and her daughter. Her mind quickly goes to an old classmate, Rowan, who has found exactly that, through online influencing. Desperate to leech onto Rowan's success, Hannah quickly finds her and does what she can to break into the world.

But Rowan's life is not all beauty and ease. There has been a recent murder attached to Rowan's life, and now a new crime has occurred at a party attended by Hannah and Rowan. Exactly how attached are these two friends?

This started out well, but the further I went, the less interest I had. I can see where the author was going with the twisty direction of it, but it just didn't land. The characters were flat, not very likable, and overall it was a tepid plot.

I'm a big fan of novels with. multiple narrators but I wasn't really able to connect with any of the characters in this book. Hannah and Rowan were both hard to root for and didn't seem to develop much as characters throughout the story. The plot twist was interesting but wasn't what I was hoping for. This was a fun and quick read but it didn't leave me wanting more or thinking much about the characters or plot after I had finished.

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Very captivating with amazing character development. A Instagram influencer and a old friend reconnect. They each have things to gain from each other, have things that they want from each other. Be careful what you wish for …. This isn’t just new for her but also for her family. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wow this book wrapped itself around you and took off from the beginning as the pages flew the reader is left continually trying to solve this whodunit. A psychologist shouldn't be losing her mind, but Hannah is anyway. She needs a new job and lots of sleep—fast. Desperate for a change of fortunes, she contrives a meeting with her former classmate. As a student at Harvard, Rowan became famous on Instagram by chronicling a glamorous life.
The two women soon form an obsessive friendship, and Hannah is drawn into a privileged new world. But when a garden party takes a shocking turn, Hannah and Rowan find themselves suspected of murder. The Cambridge police start closing in, uncovering their dark secrets one by one. Now, the friends are unravelling—and by the time the truth comes out, one of them will be dead. Gripping and stressful it was a real eye opener to see how much social media can influence people and their situations and lives. A fantastic psychological thriller as to how different our actual lives are to what is shown on social media, how fragile life can be, the secrets, the lies, the intertwining of lives and the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and flipping through the pages. This one is worth the read. Defintely recommend and give 5 stars.

Thank you to Netgally, the author and publisher for the ARC for a review.

Riveting and suspenseful. The characters jump out of the pages as those you might know in real life which is the hallmark of a great writer. The story starts out fairly mundane and builds to a crescendo with a twist. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
