This is a second chance rockstar romance.

Frankie and Risk have loved each other since they were 13 years old, it started as friend love and progressed into something so much more. Unfortunately for our young couple, life hit them with some serious obstacles that forced them to be apart, but 9 years later Risk is back home and things get complicated again.

First, I want to say this book totally attacked all my feelings and even made me teary eyed a few times. The love they had for each other was so strong, it build them up when they were together, but also had the power to completely destroyed them when they weren't. Frankie was such a strong character, she was handed heartbreak too many times and she just keep going on with her life; she gave up her soulmate to handle the soul crushing illness that was consuming her mother. Risk, I really wanted to smack this dude for his childish behavior, but his story is just as complicated as Frankie's with some traumatizing experiences thrown in.

I did feel at times the push and pull was a bit much and maybe just thrown in for a bit more drama between our couple. You would think two people who loved each other that much and suffered that kind of heartbreak would at least have a decent conversation about the past to avoid misunderstandings. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case and the miscommunications led to more suffering between Frankie and Risk, but this time it seemed to hurt them more. Thankfully, their friends (aka Risk's band) were able to be there for them and help them.

I would have absolutely loved an epilogue to see how everyone was doing and how their lives turned out especially May, with crazy playboy antics.

Just a warning, this book deals with drugs, child abuse and Alzheimer's disease.

I don’t think i was emotional ready for this book, i went in pretty blind and i am so glad i did. This book had it all and more.

I loved the relationship between Risk and Frankie and how it all started, even though the circumstances on why they started talking was no nice from What risk was dealing with but i loved their instant friendship.

These two had such an intense love for each other and well did this all go up flames but that’s what i loved about this book going through all the motions and finding out what happened. I could just feel so much coming off the pages.

Frankie also didn’t have an easy life and her and her mother and what they go through just broke my heart especially being able to relate so much to their situation.

I absolutely loved everyone in this novel to the main characters to even the side characters this book was just perfection for me and one of my favourite troupes. LA Casey has done an absolute stellar job with this novel and i would have to say it’s one of my favourite 2021 novels and one i will never forget.

This is a must read and i will recommend this book to anyone and everyone

Love me some Rockstar/Second Chance books.. This is a newer to me author too.. I was given this book via Netgalley and the publisher for a honest review.

What a heartbreaking beautiful story this was for Frankie and Risk.. They were teenage young love.. On the verge of making it big.. Frankie knows what she needs to do. she needs to let Risk go... he needs to peruse his dreams.. while she stays back to care for her mother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s (I hate this disease BTW.. with my father having the onsets of it.. ) FF 9 yrs.. Risk is back.. Is the Love and passion that they shared prior to him leaving still there? Will Frankie and Risk be able to find their way back to each other..?

I loved this story so very much.. I will def have to check out more from this author.. Thank you for the amazing read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So much emotion
Flipping heck! This one packed a punch. It literally got me right in the gut. Caught off guard by my emotions throughout. It dealt with issues dear to my heart and as much as I needed to put the damn kindle down, I couldn’t, I was mesmerised. A second chance, rockstar romance with so much emotion, and not surprisingly, as is the case with me when it comes to LA Casey, I was in tears more than a couple of times. Emotional drama with rock star Risk Keller coming back to his home town and facing Frankie Fulton, his only love, his muse, and the woman who broke his heart. The heartache goes both ways though, and seeing each other after 9 years brings back all the memories, both good and bad. A wonderful story, beautifully written with perfectly imperfect characters that left me needing their happy ending, but with so many obstacles to overcome I wasn’t sure it was possible. A wonderful read. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Echoes of the Heart is a standalone, second chance Rockstar romance from LA Casey. Frankie and Risk were best friends, who became childhood sweethearts, before their world was torn apart.
Their story is captivating and emotional and heartbreaking, whilst also heartwarming.
Frankie had an unthinkable choice to make, and it completely shattered this pair. Despite their demons, when they reconnect nine years on the connection and chemistry they share is just as intense as it was when they were teens. Whilst their relationship is full of passion it also has it’s fair share of pain.
I was enthralled and fair warning that you will want some Kleenex. I’m a longtime fan of this author’s work and I look forward to LA Casey’s next release.

This was a rare DNF for me, because I don't think it was bad, but it's become pretty apparent that this author's style doesn't work for me. Her books have been hit or miss for me, and this one definitely didn't pull me back in. There are some seriously tired clichés in this second chance romance, and I really can't get behind the whole "I'm a manhoe, but I still love you" trope. There are some great emotional moments in here, but I was underwhelmed and disconnected overall. I felt no desire to finish.

**3.75 - 4 Stars**

Okay so this is kind of a tough review to write. This is my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised how easily hooked in to the story and characters I was. I found myself not wanting to put my kindle down. I was 100% invested in the story line and the characters. Overall, I still feel that way even after reading the story. The writing is well done, and I loved the friendship between Frankie and the band members from when they were younger. I loved the relationship that formed between Frankie and Michael that flourished in the face of such devastation. I loved the strength of the bond between Frankie and Risk that was developed when they were just teenagers and stayed with them through so many trials and tribulations and time and distance. This book was really a 5 star book for me until the last major conflict scene between Frankie and Risk and its connection to substance use. While I think everyone who struggles with addiction has their own personal journey, there are common themes especially with regard to recovery, and I don't think those were adequately or realistically depicted in the story and I struggled with that when it came to the story. I would definitely like to read another book by the author as I was really enjoying the story for a good 75% of the book so I look forward to trying another read.

I have read two other L. A. Casey books in the past and really loved one and didn't like one so I thought I'd give Echoes of the Heart a try. I have to say that Echoes of the Heart lands somewhere in the middle. I liked it, but I can't say that it blew me away. I loved the beginning of the story where we learn about how Risk and Frankie knew each other as kids and how their relationship grew from there. I thought their back story was very interesting and believable. I also loved the setting of a small town on the coast in the UK rather than a setting in a big place such as London which one might expect to see in a rock star story. It was the reconnection of the characters that I didn't feel as much as I wanted to. I just wasn't as drawn into that part of the story. I loved the side characters in Risk's band and would have loved to have had more of them throughout since they also grew up with Risk and Frankie. Overall, it was a good second chance/rock star romance book which I will recommend to those I know will enjoy it.

My sincere thanks to Amazon UK Publishing/Montlake and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give my unbiased opinion of it.

Frankie Fulton never got over her first love, and the inconvenient fact that he is a world famous rock star means that she will always be reminded of the boy she loved with all her heart, but could never fully have.

Risk Keller has yet to return to his hometown of Southwold, England. In the nine years since he and his band, Blood Oath, left it all behind for the opportunity of a lifetime, he has avoided the town... and one person in particular... his one and only, Frankie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Echoes of the Heart was an emotional and heartbreaking, second chance romance. When Risk, the rockstar returns home and reunites with Frankie, the woman he left behind, their old feelings come roaring back, but the reason they broke up in the first place has never really changed. And while they share a true love that will never fade, Frankie and Risk were just never meant to be...
Although Frankie loves Risk with everything she has, she could never leave her life in Southwold, or her sick mother, to be with him on his road to success. And when holding him back was never an option, Frankie did the unthinkable, and let him go. But in the years since they last saw each other, Frankie has been a shell of her former self without the man she loves by her side.
Risk has done everything he can to numb himself and forget the heartbreak he suffered at the hands of Frankie, and yet, every song he writes seems to focus on the same woman he just can't seem to let go. Returning to Southwold, he knows he will most likely see her again, but he wasn't expecting the sheer magnitude of feelings he still has for his one and only love.
This book is guaranteed to tear your heart out and oh-so-slowly, put it right back together again. Frankie and Risk were once entirely devoted to each other and had a relationship built on trust and understanding. But with time and the complications of life, their love turns into something too painful for either of them to focus on, so they both find a way to move on with their lives.
When Frankie and Risk were getting along, I absolutely loved their sexy and hilarious dynamic, and the way they just seemed to fit each other. But when their relationship started falling apart, the toxicity between them holds no bounds. These two both have a lot of healing to do, and in the end, they must discover a way to move on for good, or change their lives completely...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Wow! Okay! My heart is going a million miles a second. What did I just read? This book had me sucked in from the beginning. I was rooting for Risk & Frankie from the first moment, but there are things people go through and do to each other that there is no getting past. This book was very emotional, had me full blown crying one min and laughing the next. The way it was written was unbelievable. L.A. Casey has a way with words. It been 24 hours since I finished reading the book and I can’t get it out of my head.
Can 2 soulmates find their way back to each other after multiple times of hurting one another? And the true fact was they were doing what they did out of love. Would you hurt yourself to help your other half? But they didn’t think by hurting themselves, they were hurting the person they were trying to save. I need books for every single one of Risk’s band mates! May is something special, I can already feel it. #1 Sinner right here!
Received this ARC for my honest review and opinion. It was amazing.
Frankie and Risk need each other!
Frankie Fulton knew that ending her relationship with Risk Keller was the best thing for both of them since she couldn’t leave Southwold because of her mom’s early onset Alzheimer’s and he was meant for rock stardom with his band Blood Oath. Risk had used his memory of Frankie as his muse to write many of their songs, but she never knew it because she would only listen to the instrumental versions because of the heartache it caused.
Echoes of the Heart is really good second chance rockstar romance between Frankie and Risk where they finally figure out that they are better together than being single and lonely in different countries especially with the support of his band.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love a second-chance rock star romance and this one ugh it was heartbreakingly beautiful. Not to mention deeply touching and hard to put down.
And with tortured characters, illness, tragedy and lots of flashbacks I was completely enthralled, and as a new author to me I will definitely be checking out more books by L.A. Casey.
Would happily recommend.
I have loved many of LA Casey’s previous books so when I saw this come available on NetGalley I requested it right away.
Echoes of the Heart is a second chance love story. Frankie and Risk are best friends and high school sweethearts. But when Frankie’s mom gets diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the same time Risk’s band gets their first big break, it’s clear their paths are diverging for the first time. Fast forward nine years, Frankie is still living in their small town taking care of her mom and working as a waitress when Risk comes back to town for the first time.
This was such a beautiful story of how two people who are meant to be together find their way back when life throws them apart. I loved both of these characters and honestly felt their pain and soul-deep love for each other. I flew through this book their story was so captivating.
Note: I will add a possible trigger warning for substance abuse and assault. I felt they were both handled well within the narrative but please be advised.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great book. The two main characters Risk and Frankie have loved each other all their lives. When they were young adults something tore them apart. Several years later they find each other again. Their loves wins.
Sniff sniff a few tears at this one 3/4 of the way through but a lovely ending. Will there be a follow up ? Would like to think so. Throughly enjoyed this love story and got really invested in this couple wishing them back together. The mother/daughter/step father storyline was very emotional and well written around a difficult subject as Alzheimer’s. All in all a lovely book which I’ll remember for days to come. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I cried AND laughed until I cried with this one! I am an early fan of Casey and have read most of her books, and they are always 4-5 Stars. But I don’t EVER EVER cry while reading and very rarely laugh out loud (without tears), so to do both in one book makes it a MUST READ. There are some really beautiful moments in this book as well as some truly hilarious ones, but they are only possible because Casey is a gifted writer when it comes to character development and world-building! She has always had such a clear strong writing style that truly sucks you into her world. Her characters are always genuine, 3-dimensional people who have truly lived a life worth reading about. They are relatable, imperfect, attractive but real, and I love that her female characters are always curvy with a backbone. They are people I'd actually want to know, to hang out with, to cheer for so it's always an enjoyable read with heart!
I highly recommend this read but warn you that you will be diving into her other books as soon as you put it down!
Love is heartbreaking?
In this emotional and heartbreaking book you’ll discover true loyalty, a daughters love and find out if two people were always meant to be.
I can honestly say that I cried for the first 50% of this book. The absolute anguish rolling page after page was torment. You’ll feel pain, sorrow and unending frustration for a lost love.
The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Authors Blurb: When rock star Risk Keller shows up in Frankie’s diner with his heart on his sleeve, it turns her world upside down. Letting him go was the hardest thing she ever had to do. For years, his voice has been a reminder of everything she sacrificed, and now it’s time to face the music.
For Risk, coming home shows him what he’s always known deep down every song, every gig, every drink, every girl it’s always been about Frankie.
There’s no denying their intense chemistry. But Risk still has a career that takes him around the world; Frankie still has a sick mother she loves too much to leave. Can they overcome everything in their way to give first love a second chance?
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕
I am tired of the same cliches in romance books.
The tiny girl with auburn hair and green eyes
The 6ft blond guy that they broke up long time ago and they are not over it.
She did not get another boyfriend she is stuck in the same situation for a decade.
On the other hand he became a rockstar and he is shagging all the girls around doing drugs, etc.
Sorry but I am done with that.
Also, this supposed to be based in England, but I cannot feel it, looks more like an American-Irish place, even the way that they talk.
As well there is a situation that she was punched on the face by his foster father and she doesn't do anything about it, not reporting to the police or say who did that to her.
Enough. Clearly She needs counseling, not addressing mental health in 2021 is a big NO for me.
And his name, Risk, seriously?
I love second chance romance stories, and since I already know L.A. Casey can write a stunning one, it seems like a no brainer that I would jump at the chance to read and review Echoes of the Heart,
A decade ago, Frankie and Risk were just like any other people in a serious relationship. They lived together, and Risk was doing all he can for his band to get signed to a label. Things take a turn for the worse, however, when Frankie discovers that her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Frankie's mother's diagnosis coincided with the break that Risk has been waiting for, and since Frankie didn't want him to give up his dream, she pushes Risk away. Fast forward to ten years later - Risk is now an accomplished and famous musician, while Frankie's life hasn't really changed much. They meet again when Risk and his bandmates come home to celebrate their high school music teacher's retirement.
There a lot of things at play - Risk is resentful of how Frankie pushed him away, and Frankie, knowing that Risk would have never left her otherwise, is largely unapologetic. Frankie is also struggling to deal with her mother's impending death, while Risk has abandonment issues to work through. It took a few difficult interactions before Frankie and Risk decided to try being friends, and I adored seeing the pay off and them realizing that their love story was nowhere near done. They were always each other's biggest supporters, and reading about Risk and Frankie finding their way back to each other was incredibly rewarding.
I really enjoyed Echoes of the Heart, and I look forward to what L.A. Casey writes next!
