A poetry book from a man's perspective and his feelings. These poems demonstrate that life can and does bring change, and personal evolution isn’t a choice but a necessity to survive and thrive in the midst of it. not my cup of tea but if you like poetry might be worth it.
Thanks netgalley and publisher.
Lovely collection of poems! Each poem portrayed a piece of emotion, made me re-read a couple of pieces each time before moving on. The poems definitely stirred and pulled the strings of my heart. I would read this over and over again.
Poetry by its nature is subjective and evocative. This is also its power. This short book had me wondering if the poems were written by one person. Just when I was ready to stop reading because I had grown weary of the repetition of the "sex is all I think about" theme. Then I turn the page and darn if there's not a poem that touched my heart.
A mixed bag, but thankfully there's more depth after the first section of the book.
My thanks to NetGalley and Shy Monkey Publishing for allowing me to read a review copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
I cannot believe this kind of poetry still gets published nowadays. It was bad, in the way poems by a 10-year-olds are bad, but at least they are 10 years old! These poems actually had a rhyme, the kind that rhymes 'side' with 'inside.' There is absolutely no other beginning than 'I,' 'you' or 'she'. They were bland, pointless.
Fire and Harmony by A.F. Agui is a new favourite collection of poetry.
Fire and Harmony is a man’s perspective on love and relationships. Even as a woman I found it relatable. It had a great flow, rhythm, and rhyming. My husband recently got into poetry, and he enjoyed this a lot and found it relatable as well.
This collection of poetry is short, but each of them is a little nugget of heart.
My only issue is that I am trying to find a physical copy to preorder, and I can only find a digital copy. I would love to have a copy that I can mark up and flip through.
I received an eARC from ShyMonkey Publishing through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
There were so many poems that struck me to the core. The ones I didn't really connect with, it was still easy to see the authors emotions on the page. Each poem is personal and its so refreshing to read.
