Beautiful poetry.
Need to read her other ones for sure. Definitely recommend it to people who enjoy poetry about love and pain.

As a reader I am continuously looking for new and interesting poets to get into. I originally chose this book because of the appealing cover art but stayed for the poems contained within.

Soft Thorns vol. II is a beautifully done collection of poetry. Devoue's work continues to shine and she shows us her journey through life and her discoveries along the way. I can't wait to see the kind of work she continues to produce. If it is anything like this collection, she will continue to shine and be successful.

3.5 Stars ( I received an e-arc from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review)

The arc I had expired so ended up listening to the collection through Scribd, which the author narrates herself. Not sure how the physical layout looks like but the audiobook feels like its a constant stream of thought with a a few breaks in between. I also only listened on 1.2 speed to enjoy it but not have too slow. Very much a focus on being super guarded with relationships, being attracted to unavailable men and just wanting to find your person. Reading poetry this way has a new and interesting experience.

Soft Thorns Vol. II is a beautiful collection of short poems dealing with topics of hurt, abuse, domestic abuse, shame, heartbreak, and recovery. Some of the poems really hit me and some felt like random thoughts put into verse. Overall, it was a nice collection.

This poetry collection is alright. I feel that at the right moment in someone's like this would be perfect to read, as well as listen along if they have access to the audiobook. Very nice illustrations.

Firstly I'd like to thank Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the eARC for an honest review.

This was my first time reading Bridgett Devoue's work so I didn't know what to expect. This is a five chapter poetry collection that explores all the emotions that come with longing, lust, toxic love, self-destruction, confusing breakups, abuse, and overcoming it all through finding light in even the darkest of places. Each chapter focused on a different type of relationship or emotion and I really liked that about this collection. The art from Laura Kline was beautiful! Absolutely loved it. The poetry in this collection are of short to medium in length making it a quick read.

I didn't feel like the pieces all resembled poetry but more like quotes or inspiring messages. I also felt like it could have been edited to a higher standard as some of the pieces just didn't work for me and just didn't read well. Having said this I did relate to some of the poetry and also felt like I learnt some things from it as well.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read and listen to in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Soft Thorns Volume 2 is a short collection of poetry relating to hurt, abuse, domestic abuse, shame and heartbreak. This book was beautifully narrated by the author and I enjoyed listening to these poems.
Some resonated with me and some missed the mark as I felt they had too much information within one poem all at once, but overall enjoyed this poetry collection.

Whilst poetry isn't my lingo much, this was pretty good and interesting enough to keep me into reading. I enjoy the light sketches between pages, that keeps the book more entertaining for those who'd prefer to see photos or images. It's an amazing collection of short poems. I haven't read the first volume before, though, so it took me a while to get familiar with Bridgett's writing style. But after that, it was easy to comprehend.

This was a beautiful collection of poems about heartbreak. I liked the layout and the illustrations were also pretty.

I would definitely recommend this to people and also buy it as a gift.

Some of the poems were a little repetitive so I found myself skimming a few however overall I enjoyed it.

Thank you for the arc.

Unfortunately, this one was not for me. I'm not used to reading poetry but I didn't enjoy this one, it felt like someone picked up phrases that anyone could say and just put it together in a book, I didn't connect with it.
However, this is just my opinion and I think that if you enjoy Instagram poetry and if you connect with the main topic you will like it, so give it a try!
Thanks for this copy in order for an honest review.

Basic boring and couldn’t finish. Was too much about feeling sorry for the author. Not a fan of that style at all

This book was sent to me as an ARC on NetGalley. However, all opinions are of my own.
*TW* for abuse, rape, unrequited love and online bullying.
When reading poetry, I always look for ones that I know are going to be relatable. With this it couldn’t have been any more relatable! As I was reading each page I was understanding each word and trying to appreciate the vulnerability of it.
Some of the poems were short but extremely punchy.
I love how much vulnerability there was in the book!

Soft Thorns in a powerful, heartfelt collection of poetry. It was composed of 5 chapters of what appear to distinct moments in the author's life. I enjoyed the illustrations throughout. Many of the poems I found myself turning back to read again, as their words resonated with me. I can imagine many young women in the target audience will find this book relatable. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

This poetry collection was absolutely beautiful, but also heart wrenching. Part of this may be that a lot of the subject matter and emotion woven into it really resonated with me and I could empathize since I've had similar feelings and experiences. Keep in mind before going in that there are definite trigger warnings for trauma, rape, rape culture and toxic relationships. I loved the language used and the imagery that was woven not only in words, but also in the illustrations that were peppered throughout the collection. This one really spoke to be and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a poetry collection that will make you sit with it and absorb as well as just power through it depending on your mood.

Not my thing. This isn’t really my idea of poetry. Couldn’t finish it. Just not interesting or original.

I love all poetry and all tumblr quotes… there are apparently a lot of controversy when deciding on whether one is considered 'poetry' or not. Personally, I don't know how to classify them. But, I DO know that I enjoyed this book very much and it got me thinking. Thinking about all sorts of things related to the writing and my past experiences. The emotions I read and felt were one of my favorite things about this book.

I would definitely recommend to those who likes poetry and like to read deep quotes once in a while. :)
