I loved Lisa Taddeo's "Three Women" and just this teaser of "Animal" already has me dying to read it. Her writing is so powerful and raw - the first two chapters completely sucked me in!

Thanks to Avid Reader Press and NetGalley for this sneak peek!

This excerpt of the first two chapters of Animal was very interesting. I want to keep reading this one. I enjoyed Three Women by Taddeo and cannot wait to read all of Animal. The premise was interesting, and I enjoyed the writing thus far.

Feel uncomfortable giving a rating for a teaser, to be frank, but I will because the process insists. Just trying to clear my Netgalley shelf of older content that I read but forgot to or didn't rate/review.

I didn’t realize this was a teaser at first but I really enjoyed what I read so far! Lisa Taddeo has a unique voice and is a phenomenal writer. I plan to read the full book this weekend!

It is definitely hard to give a review for just a small sample. I can't wait to see the entire book.

I can't really give a full review for just a small sample, sorry. I've read a lot of hype for this though, so maybe I'll get it eventually.

Loved this teaser & cannot wait to read the full book!!!!!! It was gripping, powerful, and brilliantly written. I am curious to learn more about Joan, her dark past and her struggles.

Would definitely read the whole thing. I was totally sucked in by the description of Vic in the restaurant and less so with the description of Alice but it has "gread read" written all over it.

Loved this excerpt from the book! Will absolutely be purchasing it when it is released. I adored “Three Women,” and I’m excited to read Lisa Taddeo’s first fiction novel.

I was able to receive a teaser of this book. So far it is very dark and I cannot wait to read the rest of it.

It starts with Joan witnessing a violent death and packing up all of her things and moving from New York City to Los Angeles. We get snippets of her past and the hard life she has lived.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced teaser of this novel. I cannot wait until it releases on June 8th so I can read the remainder of it.

It’s hard to judge a book off of such a small section, but the writing style was enjoyable and definitely was curious where the story would take. I’m definitely going to read a finished copy when I can get one.

I didn't realize this was a teaser and I was so MAD when I finished reading! Haha. It was so good and I know I am going to LOVE the entire book upon release. I am super excited for this one! Absolutely loved Three Women.

I was so excited to see a sample of this upcoming novel, after reading Three Women. The writing style is economical - short, simple sentences, but every word a powerhouse.
It tells the story of a woman leaving New York behind after a shocking act of violence, to go to California, seeking answers to the questions that have haunted her since childhood.
The writing, at least in this short sample, seems detached, explaining the terrible things that have occurred to her in such detail, like she was not there. But all the while, I instantly feel the emotion that is missing from the main character, after a life lived with so much pain.
This is masterful story-telling and I cannot wait for the release.

I enjoyed this teaser and look forward to purchasing this book when it gets released. It’s great when a book draws you in from the start and keeps you looking forward to the next chapter!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.

Highly intriguing and dedicated layers makes the first two chapters (given in the sample) well intended and written. Simply put, they leave us wanting more.

The title speaks true to the story, and I can't wait to get to know the full story.

Whoa. What a teaser! Taddeo has such a way of absorbing you and placing you in the POV of a character. Immediately placed on my list to read, I can tell this will be pull you in and take you on a ride.

Thank you to NetGally and Simon & Schuster for this tasty little teaser.

WOW - I started this review after reading even just the first chapter because I'm hooked already. I loved Lisa's book, Three Women, so I was already excited for Animal and this teaser did not disappoint.

Lisa has a wonderful way of putting you inside a woman's head with utter frankness and holds nothing back. Animal is no exception! I can already tell this is going to be a RIDE.
This is written in such a way that adds suspense and that page-turner-feel IMMEDIATELY. Every page dropped another little nugget that had my eyes wide or my jaw-dropped.

One small note from Chapter 1 was the use of the term "mentally challenged" which is outdated language. I don't know if it was included because of that or if it was an oversight but wanted to call it out as language has evolved and a better term would have been to use person-first language and/or use the actual name of the disability if relevant to the story (since I only read the teaser I'm not sure if it is relevant to the plot in general or could have just been eliminated entirely).

Generally, though, I am absolutely hooked and if you like thrillers and suspense, you likely will be too!

I can't wait to get my hands on the final full copy!

This was definitely a teaser! I'm super intrigued now and considering myself as officially 'teased'. I enjoyed her other work and this seems like a good insight in whats to come for the rest of this book!
