The first chapter is a great hook - I certainly want to keep reading. You get a sense of the two characters - the shifting power dynamics at play. No question Taddeo can write - rendering a picture before your eyes, rather than throwing down the finished piece. Would love to be considered for an ARC of the full length novel!

Thank you to @avidreaderpress @simonandschuster and @lisataddeo for the advanced reading of #AnimalTeaser. I was thrilled to read the first two chapters, albeit, difficult.. because I am so looking forward to reading Taddeo's latest creation. Her Three Women was just incredible.
Described by Library Journal, Lisa Taddeo illustrates "one woman's exhilarating transformation from prey into predator in Animal."
"I am depraved. I hope you like me."
Joan is a woman who has lived and has experienced many unimaginable cruelties in a male dominated world. And she has a traumatic past that she is haunted by. She flees from NYC to LA in search of Alice, who is the one person who can help her piece together the story of her past and in doing so, learns much about herself as well as how she will move forward in this unforgiving world.
The two quick chapters were not enough, I am intrigued and can't wait to read Taddeo's suspenseful and emotional second novel.

I can't wait to get my hands on the full book! Lisa Taddeo's writing is the kind that sticks to your ribs. Very, very excited to finish!
Thank you to NetGalley and Tiller Press for advance access to the teaser portion of this title!

I’m so excited for this book to come out! I just read the first two sample chapters, and I am already hooked. This is definitely going to be another home run for Taddeo.

I enjoyed this extract from the book. It was very attention grabbing. I will definitely add this to my tbr. It left me wanting to know more about the character's past.

The book began with personal narrative and how the character witnessed the suicide of her lover. This started a series of actions that trickled to some mystery I have yet to unravel since I only read the excerpt of this book. But I am hooked for sure.
Thank you Netgalley and Avid Reader Press / Simon & Schuster for giving me the opportunity to read this.

I am very excited for Taddeo's new book and this teaser was just what I needed to confirm I want to read the book. Really looking forward to reading the whole book!

I love the voice and I'm hooked. I didn't realize I was getting a teaser when I started reading. I think I was so excited having loved Three Women that I was just anxious to dive in. This is off to an intriguing start but I can honestly say that two chapters in... I'm not sure I can give feedback other than there's enough vague tension that I want to read more but much of that is based on the author's previous works. Hopefully I can read the rest of this book soon and update my final opinion.

I love getting to read excerpts of books I'm interested in. There are so many times when I start a book and instantly know the writing style isn't for me, so it's nice when I don't have to take an ARC from someone who would have enjoyed it. With this book specifically, I immediately loved the writing style and voice and cannot wait to read the whole thing!!

I've received an ARC digital copy for the first 2 chapters and was quickly finished reading about 10 mins.
The beginning of the story as we all know that set a shocking scene. From this very short version, it is easy to find few storylines that which might be expanded in the later chapters to unveil the whole. Vic who shot himself. The parents with whom the old memories and experiences Joan would recall. Kevin the new landlord who was an ex rap star and the story between him and Joan. Also what happened with John Ford which may lead Joan became how she is now.
I felt eagerness to continue reading and finding out what really happened for Joan from the texts given and would rate 4+ for this thrill to come in June.

I devoured Lisa Taddeo’s “Three women” so I jumped at the chance to read this excerpt. I’m already wanting more, and know this will be a preorder for me.

Didn’t realize this was just a preview. I didn’t want to read and not be able to finish and give my full review so I’ll
Wait until I can read it all. Thank you

I did not realize this was just a teaser, which does not interest me. Thank you for your consideration.

This is definitely an intriguing 2 chapter teaser! This fictional work seems to have some similar themes as the author's non-fiction triumph, Three Women. However, you can start to see the dark transformation that has already been put into motion for the main character. The teaser is a bit short to get a true sense of just how good the novel will be, but it is enough that I will be highly anticipating the full novel to be released. This is likely to be a highly talked about book this summer!

This was an intriguing teaser that I enjoyed reading, and I look forward to reading the full book when it comes out.

I was intrigued by the description and curious about Tadeo's foray into fiction. I loved the gritty descriptions and writing style of the sample. I can’t wait to read this one! Thank you Avid Reader Press and NetGalley for providing this sample.

Based on the teaser, I really want to read this book. It's about female rage and the need of revenge. It gave me some Lisbeth Salander vibes. I hope I can read the book at some point.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a sneak peek at Taddeo's debut novel.
This teaser provides the first two chapters of Taddeo's debut novel and the book definitely starts out with a bang. I can tell from the first chapter alone that these characters are unlikeable- which is my jam. I love stories with unlikeable characters, and love stories where we see the inner-workings of their minds, which is exactly what we get in this. Looking forward to the novel's release on June 8!

Thanks for the teaser, even though it was not listed this way when I requested and was approved for it.

"He was picking a pimple on his chin and staring at me. There are a hundred such small rapes a day."
With haunting and biting language such as the above, Taddeo creates a spellbinding environment that at once made me feel SEEN and uncomfortable. There's a rawness to her language that is so authentic and compelling, even when it talks about the mundane.
There are hints to an unsettling past full of trauma and pain, while also providing an unflinching look at our society and the way in which we violate and judge each other. It feels at once like a story all too familiar to many women today, but somehow fresh and new.
This excerpt definitely hooked me and the book will be an auto-buy for me.
Thank you NetGalley for a look at the exceprt!
