4.5⭐

This is such a cute and cosy read and it's set in Ireland so naturally I loved this book! The author wrote so beautifully that I felt like I was literally there experiencing it all (if only it was true). I love Hannah and Conor's chemistry and how Hannah was always knocking Conor down a peg or two. Highly recommend this rom-com!

I’ve enjoyed many of Julie Caplin’s previous books, so it was an obvious choice to pick up The Cosy Cottage in Ireland.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was full of gentle humour, and relaxing to read. I liked Hannah, she was a very relatable and lovable character. Conor was not so likeable, he had the tendency to assume the worst and not let them explain, as well as being rather too pleased with himself. However, he grew on me as the book went on.

The ending was excellent, funny, and it finished things off perfectly.

Overall, this was a fun and romantic escape. I enjoyed it.

I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

Hannah needs a change - so much so that she books a 12 week (that's a long time!) cooking course in Ireland. A one night stand - or what she thought would be a one night stand- turns out to be so much more for both of them. Connor not only helps his mom with her cooking school, he's famous in his own right. The back and forth between these two is delightful, the setting fun, and the story zips along. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A fun read.

After having enjoyed the story on the Little Swiss Ski Chalet which tales about Hannah’s sister Mina I really looked forward reading this book. This book is a stand alone but knowing the story of Mina and their parents, which was explained in depth in the previous book is an extra bonus.

Hannah who is the sensible and steady sister hardly does anything out of the ordinary. To her own surprise she jumps on a stranger’s lap in the lobby of the hotel she is staying in overnight before driving to the Killorgally Cookery School in County Kerry. The next morning, she sneaks out of his room, thinking she will never see him again…

Upon arrival in the cookery school, she meets the owner and teacher, Adrienne Byrne, and is being escorted to her cosy cottage by her youngest son Fergus. A little later she has a big shock as Conor seems to be there too.
The classes taka a start and although Hannah is not the best student, she does enjoy it all. Especially feeding the chickens in the morning.

Some fun and less fun things happen and of course the path to the end is not smooth but the total ride is a nice one and I could see myself staying in such a cosy cottage in County Kerry too.
I love this quote from the book: 'Just don't want things to go off the boil on the way home,' he teased, in a low, throaty voice. 'You are a chef, I'm sure you're quite adept at keeping things simmering.' 'Oh, I am,' he agreed, his hand inching a little higher.

I like it that Julie describes some scenes briefly and let the rest to the readers imagination.

I received an advance copy of, The Cosy Cottage in Ireland, by Julie Caplin. I really thought I would love this book. I did not. I did not care for Hannah or Conor, but his family was ok. The setting was wonderful though.

I read this in one sitting. I have read other books by this author and absolutely get taken away to the setting of the book in which case this time it is Ireland. The descriptions of Ireland were wonderful almost as if I could picture myself there along the journey.
I felt like I could really connect with Hannah and how she was feeling. The story was very relatable and nothing seemed to out there.
I'm ready to pack my bags and head to Ireland for my own adventure!

4.5 - "Life at Killorgally is always and adventure..." Stars!

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Julie Caplin, I first discovered her writing through the Romantic Escapes books, and I'm happy to see it's still going strong with The Cosy Cottage in Ireland being the eighth addition to the series.

"What happens in Dublin, stays in Dublin…"

As I have come to expect, the story is filled with a plethora of interesting and entertaining secondary characters, and Connor and Hannah’s story reminded me just why I like this authors writing so much. Opposites attract with these two, and I loved they way they worked through all of the obstacles in the way of potentially having a meaningful relationship together, as a reader you get to see them falling in love with each other, before either of them even realizes it themselves.

There was something about Ireland that made her want to act out of character…

Another winner from this author, I need to go back and read the previous books I’ve missed from the series now.

Hannah Campbell is a successful Manchester lawyer. After the deaths of her parents she has become extremely risk-averse and has come to the conclusion that it has stopped her from seizing opportunities. When a new work colleague seems to effortlessly fit in and make friends, then bake a magnificent cake for the office Bake Off competition, Hannah is unreasonably jealous and so she decides to take a sabbatical and book herself on a six-week cookery class in Killorgally, County Kerry.

When she arrives in Dublin she meets a good-looking young Irishman called Conor and uncharacteristically ends up having a one-night stand. Conor is obviously a bit of a ladies man so when Hannah wakes up in the morning she has no idea how to act casual and shrug off the fling, so she decides to sneak out and leave for Killorgally immediately.

I bet everyone knows what's coming. Hannah may not have a clue who Conor is, but he's a very famous person in Ireland and when he comes home to Killorgally and finds her there he's convinced she's stalking him.

I have seen a few of Julie Caplin's books in this series available as ARCs and, I'll be honest, I shied away from them as I was concerned that they would be a bit too twee. As they say in Pretty Woman, 'Big Mistake, Huge'. Yes, it's a cosy romance but I loved all the characters, the wonderful descriptions of the cookery school, the cottage, the landscape. It's the sort of book that makes you want to immediately sell up and go and raise chickens and grow your own vegetables (even though I hate gardening of any description and I only got 12 tomatoes from my two tomato plants this year).

Thoroughly enjoyable, I only hope that Izzy gets her own book as I quite fancy the idea of a woman inheriting a run-down Scottish castle.

Ideal for fans of Katie Fforde.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

There is something really special about this series, it is like a warm hug and I find these books always transport me right to the location they've been set in. I was especially eager to read this book as I've actually been to Dublin (it was years ago but I'd love to go back) so I could really imagine being stood in the places with Hannah. I mean the cobbled streets of Temple Bar are just something else, although I don't quite share the same passion for Guinness (despite doing the Guinness Storehouse tour while I was there) but this book took me back in an instant.

Hannah is a fab character, and no, not just because she shares my name and city, she's just such a "normal" character and I think that's something we can all relate to. Going out of her comfort zone to a top notch cookery school has shocked a few people around her but if you're going to do something then you need to do it properly right...?

When she first meets Conor there is an instant attraction and you can just feel the tension simmering between them, they really do click together and it's one of those relationships where you can just chat about nothing and everything. I didn't expect them to meet each other again quite so soon and I have to say I was put off by Conor's reaction at first but kudus to Hannah for standing up to him! I love a girl who has her own back!

I loved the adventures that Hannah got up to at the weekends, especially the kayak trip as this is something that I've always really wanted to do. The coves and coast in Ireland is just something else and on a sunny day you really could be anywhere it's so beautiful.

Julie has written another amazing book and I can't wait to see where we get to go next... is there a sneaky clue that Scotland could be on the list...I'd love a Scottish Christmas at the Castle wouldn't you ;)

I loved this book! This whole series is very enjoyable. It's easy to read this book as a standalone but I would definitely recommend reading the other books as they're great.

I've recently watched the episode of Somebody Feed Phil where he travels to Ireland and the Ballymaloe Cookery School. That's what I was picturing in my mind while reading this book.

Can't wait for further books in this series! I really hope Izzy gets the next one!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins UK through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, HarperCollins UK!

Full review to follow but I enjoyed this book. I quickly realised that Hannah was the sister of Mina from The Little Swiss Ski Chalet, a book I enjoyed reading last year.

Hannah is changing her life - she is travelling away from her home and job to learn how to cook, rather than concentrating on her work.

Enjoyed the story, a virtual visit to Ireland. The food sounded amazing and there are plenty of new relationships, some more than just friends

Well done Julie you have only gone and done it again your books are simply fantastic and so gripping and with this book I felt I was drawn in to the characters and the country to and the lovely countryside so well written and full of romance and making new friends and changing your life for the better. Worth far more than five stars and didn’t want it to end as so brilliant.
Hannah is a lawyer and needs to change something in her life and for a change she decides to book herself on to a 12 week cookery course with a famous cook family in Ireland. She heads over to Ireland and on the first night in a hotel she ends up sleeping with Connor not knowing who he is but she thinks it’s a one night stand. She wakes up and travels to the beautiful village where her cookery course is and she starts making new friends but when the son of the person running the course turns up it’s only Connor who she slept with and can she manage to resist him again or not. Can she learn to cook as well or not and will she get to help others along the way and will she head home or change her life forever.
An outstanding read.

This is another cosy read from Julie Caplin, this time featuring the very capable Lawyer Hannah who is very frustrated that one thing she cannot do is cook and hates feeling as though she’s failing in that part of her life. Hannah decides to take a cookery course in Ireland amongst a brilliant varied bunch of characters (I’m hoping Izzy will get her own story as I’d love to see how her life develop) and hosted by a renowned Irish cookery family, I loved Hannah’s independence and frustration at her cooking attempts but also how the escape gave her chance to think about her life, the teens on the course added a great balance even if one needed a never ending supply of one euro coins for the swear jar! The story is gentle, very character based and as warm-hearted as you’d expect, this is another great book in the romantic escapes series.

A cozy read to snuggle up with for sure. The setting and characters worked well here. Hannah moved from a wet dishrag/doormat to more of an independent character which was nice. Would have liked to have seen her stop referring to Mina so much. The meet cute was both cut and steamy!

This book was sent to me on Kindle by Netgalley for review. I love the Irish setting and the Irish names. There is a mystery to solve...characters who are different and fun...the protagonist is making life changing decisions. The cooking school aspect is unique and adds to the story. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

This book had me hooked from the beginning. The setting of this story was beautiful, the characters each had their stories.

The main character Hannah, has avoided taking risks unlike her sister from the previous book Mina. Now, she makes a decision which is so unlike her. She’s on her way to a world-famous culinary school, stopping on route to break up the journey. In a hotel, she meets a charming stranger, this is the start of ups and downs for her as she has no idea of who he is, which becomes clear later.
So out of her comfort zone, when she reaches the school unlike the others there, as the course progresses. As she gets to know the others, Hannah starts to realise that maybe she needs to make changes in her life and maybe that change can be Ireland.
Conor, the guy she meets, led a life that some can only dream of having, and now has left it behind. He’s now assisting his Mum in the culinary school, which he prefers as well as creating dream cottages on their land. Afraid of getting close to people as in the past he’s been used by them for their own needs and he’s never going to let it happen again.
Between Hannah and Conor, the attraction is evident. But Conor is adamant nothing can happen between them. So, when they have to work together, will they be able to put differences aside?

You could relate to Hannah with what she felt as well as the other characters.

Love this series and hope there’s more to come. Highly Recommend It.

The book I’ve been waiting months for and it did not disappoint!

Hannah, a lawyer from Manchester, takes a sabbatical to attend a cooking course in Ireland. She wants a change after doing the same thing forever and she doesn’t know how to cook! While on her way there she has a chance encounter with Conor in Dublin, while trying to hide him from a girl who he clearly wants to get away from.

Hannah is sister of Mina from another book in the series but you don’t really need to have read it as all of these books work together as standalone books as well as the series.

I loved, loved, loved Hannah and Conor from the second they met. Hannah is sensible and not really a risk taker but being away from home and on a bit of an adventure does something to her. Conor just happened to be in the right place at the right time and well, sparks flew between them.

These two characters have so much chemistry and I couldn’t get enough of the playful, fun flirting between the two. Their personalities were great and I honestly sat and smiled throughout pretty much the whole book. Each character also has a lot that you want more of, Hannah especially. I loved seeing such a strong female character and how she handled certain situations.

This book also has a whole host of secondary characters that I couldn’t get enough of. I hope we get to see some of them in other books from Julie Caplin.

The Cosy Cottage in Ireland was definitely worth waiting for and I couldn’t put it down after I’d started reading.

A wonderfully warm and charming story with good food, a beautiful Irish setting and friendly characters. I loved getting to know Hannah and really identified with her from the very beginning - unwilling the break out of her comfort zone the two sides of her character were brilliant to see unfold. The cottage sounded idyllic and I’d have loved to stay and walk along that beautiful beach. As always Julie Caplin has written a beautifully romantic story and this one simply whisks you away from it all.
