The Text God: Text and You Shall Receive
by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers
A very cheesy romance almost difficult to believe any
One is as gullible as the main character is almost cringe worthy especially as the story is set in New York but an easy read if the reader is looking for a fun quick story. Not for me.

While this started really well, the concept of the text misunderstanding got stale very quickly, and by 20% of the book, was still a 'thing' just started to sound a bit pulled from all sides. Heroine was funny at first, but again, still going on and on about GOD texting her got annoying really fast, and the book seemed to stick to this vein for a long time, which lost me along the way. Had the misunderstanding been cleared within 20% of the book, it could've rolled differently. Plus the fact the hero was in a committed relationship when he started having the hots for the heroine - just no!

Thank you netgalley and publisher for opportunity to read and review this book.
This book was part of a series (didn’t realize at first-and not the first time this has happened to me in this genre). Nonetheless you don’t need to read the first one to know what’s going on. The story and location were well done. It was a very quick read. The main female character was slightly annoying in how dumb she was but there were some really funny parts. I liked all the background characters more (Gabes parents, her friends, etc). Overall I would read the others in this series.

Sweet, fun story, but a bit hard to believe someone this naive would survive in New York City (and in law!). Go in willing to suspend disbelief on the premise and it's an enjoyable romance.

I knew from the description that this would be a little juvenile for my liking.
The characters were okay, and the connection felt real, but it was just lacking something that would give it the edge and make it good.
Too predictable.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for this kind of cheesy romance! It's unique but it has that kind of cheese that has you laughing and smiling! I loved this book, it was too cute!

I understand suspension of disbelief, and I was hoping that would carry me through this one, but it was a little much for me. A quick read but not one I'm impressed by. The writing itself was good but I found myself cringing at too much of the overall plot.

This was a sweet, fun rom com that was a lot of fun to read. As things slowly get revealed things get more interesting. A hilarious read.

While this book had some cute parts, I think the over all story was a little much for me.
I understand it's a fictional rom-com. But to actually believe God is texting you, was a little much for me.
3 stars because the book was written very well and had some really good parts.

Funny, romantic and a big dose of mistaken identity.... This was such a cute book to read...this book made me smile and laugh.. A great book to recommend to anyone

This was a great rom-com and a feel good book! It took a bit of time to take off for me at the beginning but once I got into it, I really enjoyed it!

I have not enough words to describe this book.
I am a huge fantasy reader but sometimes who doesn’t need a good romance ?
This book and the two main characters was everything. I wished for and more.
If you want to read a book for a couple of hours to either escape the real world of to just read a good and fast book , that’s the right book for you!

This was a good, cute, feel-good book that was just the right thing I need to read at the moment. Not my normal genre of book but definitely one I enjoyed reading.
Feelings are a hard thing to talk about and confess to someone especially when they just reject you. The story of someone fighting for what they want and to prove they have feelings that are more than just a manifestation into believing it was GOD.
Very cute and full of little romantic gestures, loved it and had me smiling and laughing throughout.
Thank you Whitney and Melanie for allowing me the honour of reading this ARC and Netgalley for accepting me. I loved it.

This was...only okay for me. It was fine; I finished it. But I couldn't suspend disbelief about the premise enough to actually enjoy myself. I love a texting-confusion story, but this one just didn't land for me.

Feel good story about innocent and trusting Jennifer who believes that God is helping her overcome the struggles she is currently having in her life. Gabe, aka GOD, thinks he is texting the sister of a friend who is trying to help find a internship position at a law firm. Through a series of events, Jen and Gabe meet not knowing they have already met via text messages. The story lines run parallel while Jen and Gabe's relationship continue to blossom and intertwine. Jen realizes the connection first and agonizes over how to come clean without losing Gabe. He, of course, finds out the truth first and rejects Jen. She must figure out a way to convince Gabe that she wasn't using him and her feelings for him are real. Supporting characters strengthen the story and add additional wit and charm.
Enjoyed it and would recommend the book. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What an absolutely cute story. I was laughing from the off. I will definitely be reading more of the series. A real feel good rom com, just what I needed

Super adorable story of love and faith. Jen is an artist trying to make her way in the New York art scene but is having a hard time. When she gets a mysterious text message from God, her life is changed forever. Gabriel Oliver Daly has a plan: make partner, marry Alexis, have a family, and everything will be the way he's alway imagined it. Wen he meet a pretty front desk clerk at the hotel he's supposed to meeting a friend's sister at, his life is also changed forever.
Very cute and well written and part of a series that's fun ad innocent and very fun to read!

I loved this book. Super lighthearted and easy to read. The characters were easy to like and the story flowed. The storyline was unique and quirky.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC copy

I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but I actually liked it. It’s not a book I normally choose to read, but it’s a good thing I did!
It’s an easy to read through romance.
It’s light and funny and I would definitely recommend this book!

I loved this book! Although I've read other books where texting plays a role in the development of the romance between the hero and heroine, I thought authors Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers developed this concept in a very unique way. The main character, Jen, is refreshingly optimistic and prefers to see the glass as half-full instead of half-empty. She's a small town girl who also believes anything is possible. So, when she receives a text from someone whose ID is GOD, she quickly overcomes her initial skepticism and begins to believe that the wisdom and advice GOD is texting her could actually originate from the heavens.
What makes the situation hilarious is that the authors quickly let the reader in on the secret about who GOD really is. So we can't help laughing when Jen responds to some of the statements made by GOD. Like when he tells her he needs to go, because he's late for a meeting, and she wonders how GOD could get in trouble for being late to anything. These scenarios had me laughing out loud, so much that others around me asked, "what's so funny?"
She does eventually find out who GOD is, and the reason she's getting texts from this mysterious entity. That's when she begins to realize she might have feelings for the human person behind the text messages. I loved watching how Jen developed throughout the book, gaining more confidence in herself and her artistic abilities.
This is the second in a series of books written by Whitney Dineen around the subject of romances developed because (or despite) communication via text. I enjoyed this one so much I plan to read the others, too!
Thank you to Netgalley and the authors for giving me a chance read this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review.
