Hope is working hard to make sure her father’s company’s financial conference at Cabins in the Pines is a success. She is thrown off a bit when she encounters Slater, her ex-boyfriend from college working at the resort. Slater, meanwhile, is trying to help make his boss’s wedding perfect. Could this chance meeting be what they both need?

Lovely story with romance, family, friendship, and finding oneself.

Alternating narrators didn’t work as well as it could have. Personally, don’t like narrators using various voices for the characters, especially deep voices trying to sound higher, more feminine. It would have been better for each to just read the story in their own voice. Pacing was good.

This was such a heartwarming read! Setting was so good you felt you were there! A real feel good book.

This was an easy, light hearted, and uplifting book. I enjoyed reading it. The setting was beautiful and I felt like I could easily picture the resort from the authors description. The friendship between all the friends who worked at the resort was delightful. I would love a friendship circle as wonderful as theirs was. Throughout the story there were many lessons to be learned about love and happiness from this group of friends. I enjoyed the multiple perspectives of the narrator allowing us to understand both sides of the story- Hope and Slater. I would recommend this book to any who love happy, love stories with a good lesson on life.

I love second chance romances! When Hope ends up at the resort that Slater works at, sparks fly between these exes. I loved that Hope figured out that her career was not what she wanted anymore. I love that The Pines is such a magical place. I would recommend this book.

If you enjoy stories from Hallmark and feel-good romance, you will surely love Wedding in the Pines. Slater and Hope run into each other during the pre-wedding plans and festivities for another couple. Hope and Slater broke up some years back...but here they are now having to work close which also means spending time together..

Hope and Slater both still obviously attracted to each other... and they still share their love of music. As Slater and Hope try to make it through the awkward pre-wedding situation, both of them, deep down, can’t help but wonder if there is a possibility of a second chance for them.

And with this sweet second chance romance, readers also receive the ever appreciated free Hallmark original recipe.

3.5 Stars

This is a lighthearted romance.
The narrators (YES TWO!) are terrific.
It was great to listed to as I did odd jobs around my house. LOL
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was looking forward to listening to this book. The storyline sounded interesting, but I could never get it to play. I love most anything by Hallmark and I am sure this book will do well. I will give it a three star rating at this time. If I get to read/listen to the book in the future and find it deserves a higher rating, I will change my rating.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. If you are looking for a very light fluffy story this is perfect for you. I had a hard time getting drawn into this story line, just kind of boring and wished more happened. I was not really into any of the characters. But if you are a die hard Hallmark story plot kind of person this is perfect for you.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

This book was just the right amount of cheesy and sweet! I really enjoyed the dueling narrators of Hope and Slater. The second chance theme wasn't rushed and had lots of great details. I enjoyed the flashbacks to the "old days" in both the Hope and Slater's and Delaney and Wyatt's relationships. It was very mild in the romance department but had more of a slow burn of anticipation to that first kiss moment. This book certainly made me want to go camping in a cabin with loved ones!

Thank you Hallmark Publishing and Net Galley for the opportunity to "read" this book before publishing. I chose to listen to the audio book, as I enjoy this "beach read" kind of book as I am doing other things.

Hope and Slater met in college. Hope is attending a conference hosted by her father's investment company. Slater works at the conference location. Memories, both good & bad, flood back as they re-connect. Each character in the book was likeable and, I would be surprised if this didn't become a Hallmark movie!

Hallmark hits heightened hot spot with Wedding in the Pines

Posted on May 13, 2021 by michellelovatosbookreviews, world's first book color commentator, book reviews with a twist

Ah Hallmark Publishing, once again, I deeply love thee … oh, and author Cassidy Carter, for offering romance saps like me another lightning-fast springtime sprint through her story, Wedding in the Pines.
Ever heard the old saying, ‘always a bridesmaid, never the bride?’ Well, that doesn’t apply here. Not exactly anyway. But don’t tell best man Slater Evans, who is fulfilling his role as best man to Wyatt, and Cabin in the Pines Resort owner/boss, Delaney. Along with his pre-wedding duties, Slater’s new job as resort general manager starts out complicated and progressively pulls him into a position for pain and possibility.
Hope Bergman is another story altogether. And this is where it gets juicy.
Just short of her mother’s death and at her father’s insistence, Hope breaks off her college engagement with Slater, the love of her life, via a hand-written note of his dorm room door.
What a chicken-feces way to break up. I would never do that! Actually, I sort of did do that. How embarrassing. Can redemption be possible?
For Hope, writing that note and disappearing from Slater’s life materialized into an unfulfilling but financially sound and successful life, according to her frowning father. Now the unhappy Hope is the whippersnapper heir to her father’s big-city financial planning business.
This book feels like a bonsai plant – carefully cultured and shaped the way someone else wants it to be. How many times have I heard this story? Regret, remorse, and renewal. Ah, the gluttonous guilt going on here …
I suppose we can all guess how this story progresses. Hope’s personal assistant unknowingly books the company’s annual financial planning get-away week at Cabin in the Pines, which directly conflicts with Wyatt and Delaney’s wedding.
Darn, computer glitches. Oh, what will we do?
You know why I like these somewhat silly scenarios? Soap Operas. I was ruined for life in the early 1980s by General Hospital’s Luke and Laura storyline. I watched that pop culture phenomenon unfold with my boyfriend’s grandmother while sitting on her 1930s couch in my General Hospital-emblazoned t-shirt, mouth agape and waiting in suspense for love to ultimately win.
Essentially, my mouth is agape, again. Wedding in the Pines is a star-crossed romance that leaves the languished lovers lined up to lust – I mean love – once more. At least, I think so. I wouldn’t want to give away the ending.

This was a cute book! I love the Hallmark publishing novels. There are a guaranteed warm fuzzy read. They are clean, which as a romance novel reader is tough to find. I am wishing this book into a full movie, due to the musical aspects. The main characters are talented musicians and I just love when there is singing in a movie.

Slater and Hope are past lovers who find themselves in the same spot again. Their situation brings them closer and closer once again. The supporting friend characters in this book are all great, though I did find myself losing track of them sometimes. Slater's friends especially.

I listened to the audiobook version. The male and female performers were both easy to listen to. I did not love the male reader's "girly" voice when, for example, Hope spoke during his POV, but that is a difficult thing, I am sure, especially since his voice is deep and almost rugged.

I would recommend this book to any romance readers, especially those that do not want the steamy scenes.

Wedding in the Pines by Cassidy Carter is a super-sweet and clean Hallmark romance book that I enjoyed from beginning to end. The story is of Hope and Slater, the two main characters that used to date but had not seen each other in years until her company put on a retreat at the resort where Slater works. Seeing each other sparks all kinds of feelings, including the pain of their breakup. The two of them try hard to ignore the renewed attraction, but this is a Hallmark story and you assume they will end up together. But will they? The only thing I would have changed was to have a female read the female parts, I was not too fond of the male doing the female voices.

I listened to the audio version of this book. This is another classic Hallmark story. It is a sweet, clean romance. There's a tiny conflict, but not much. There is a wonderful setting, there's a wedding and a second chance at romance going on.

It's the story of Hope and Slater. She gave up music and him for her father's expectations to join his business and he gave up music when she left him. Now they have been thrown back together to discover that their feelings haven't changed--and neither have their circumstances. Will working on a song together for the wedding of Slater's best friend take them back to where they need to be?

I was given a complimentary copy of this audiobook via NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing. All thoughts are my own.

A fun, charming and sweet tale that one can expect from Hallmark Publishing. I love the theme of unrequited love and second chances. Hope and Slater both have a lot of learning and growing to do, specifically about their true self and their heart’s desires. I love the setting of cabins in the pines and the rustic feel and comfy relaxation invoked, even though there are high end social events as well. I enjoyed the secondary characters and the wedding preparations for Slater’s best friends. Misunderstandings and mishaps create the perfect comedic relief in this enjoyable rom-com. The narrator did a good job capturing the various characters and voice inflections. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.

This is definitely a feel-good romance. I liked the relaxed atmosphere at the Cabins in the Pines and although it was clear that there was another book that took place before this one, I had no trouble following along.

I listened to the audio book version and liked that there were two narrators, male and female. They switched off based on whose perspective was the prominent one in each chapter. I wasn’t a huge fan of the male narrator’s version of the women’s voice, however, I got used to it after awhile.

This was a sweet second-chance romance, and truly a second-chance at a life of love and happiness for Hope, rather than the stressful life she had been living the past few years. I was so frustrated with Hope’s father for most of the book, however, I was happy with the way things resolved between the two of them.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Wedding In The Pines
Cassidy Carter
Hope Bergman works hard at her father’s investment firm; she does everything she can to gain his approval. Hope and her assistant Annie have planned a new venue for the company’s investor retreat. This year they are going to Cabins in the Pines. Her father has his doubts, this is not the type of place where they usually hold the retreat. Hope had planned to study music in college however, her father insisted, begged, pleaded, and cajoled her into giving up her dream of music to study finance. She is good at what she does, but her life is nothing but work. Since her mother died the chiasm between Hope and her father, Don seemed to grow wider with each passing day.
Hope and Annie had taken great pains in planning the retreat to perfection but when they arrived, they found out there was a glitch. The owners wedding was the same day. Slater Evans is the best man for his boss’s upcoming wedding. He is determined to make this the PERFECT wedding. Hope and Slater must work together to coordinate a successful conference and the most beautiful wedding in the world. Slater and Hope went to college together, both were studying music, writing songs, and performing together. They were in love. Hope broke his heart when she changed her major. Slater went on to study engineering and played a major role at Cabins in the Pines.
Can Hope gain her father’s approval and bridge the gap between them? Can she and Slater work together? Can the wounds heal in a week?
I love this story! This is a feelgood romance. This is a story of relationships, compassion, reconciliation, understand, mercy, and love.

Yes - listen if you LOVE the Hallmark Channel.

Hummm...this one was a fence sitter for me. I don't particularly care for the Hallmark Channel. It's too sacchariney sweet for me. There is no depth, no breadth, and not very filling.

So on one hand, this book PERFECTLY emulates what the Hallmark Channel delivers. If you like that, you'll love this book.

If like me, you don't care for the Hallmark Channel this book could get on your nerves. I thought the voices kind of lacked depth, breadth and left me wanting something more.

I got an ARC from Netgalley and Hallmark Publishing to prepare my honest review.

In college, Hope loved Slater, and the two dreamed of a life making music together. These days, Hope works at her father's financial firm. When the conference their firm is hosting is booked at Cabins in the Pines, the last person Hope expects to see is Slater. Slater loves his job at the resort and is determined to make everything to smoothly for his best friends' wedding coming up that weekend. When Hope and Slater meet again, all their memories and feelings come bubbling to the surface again. Could their reconnection lead to a future together?

Another charming Hallmark romance! I had not read <i>Love on Location</i>, and while <i>Wedding in the Pines</i> can be read as a standalone, I think it would be more enjoyable if you know Wyatt and Delanie's backstory, as we see so many events leading up to their wedding in this sequel. I know Hallmark always likes to include a recipe in their books, but I felt the dish in this book was kind of unnaturally squeezed in. <spoiler>Are you really going to make a dish your mom said will make whoever eats it want to marry you right away for the man who already did ask you to marry him years ago? Especially while you're on vacation and not expecting to do any cooking?</spoiler> If you love the clean, cozy romances Hallmark is known for, you will enjoy this book!

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Thank you for the audio book, This is the first audio book I have listened too. It was full of details which I like I was able to imagine the story as if I was reading it.

The story between Hope and Slater is heartfelt and full of ups and downs. It is charming and captivating and any fan of romance novels will love this.
