Written from the first person perspective, this book is a myraid of twists and turns that we keep the reader on the toes throughout the book. While you might be able to guess the who, the why is not as easy to discern until the end of the book.

The themes include forgiveness, sacrificing yourself for love and what this means. This is shown in several characters contained within the book. The hero also develops over the course of the story (it's great to have a story where the guy needs this development rather than be practically perfect).

I got this free in exchange for a free review. I would have paid for this book and been happy with my purchase though had I not. I will be recommending this to others.

When i read blurb, I simply expected something very different. I actually find the plot interesting, but the writing was sometimes boring for my liking and I skipped a lot of pages.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for kindly provided ARC!

This was such a great read. I never knew who really was guilty until almost the end. Loved it.
Shelby was convicted of murdering her brother in law and has served her time , but now someone is after her for something else. Can Special Agent Denton keep her safe?

Okay soooo I didn’t notice that this book was tagged as Christian until I saw the dedication on the first page. I get serious blinders on when I see the ‘mystery & thriller’ tag, okay?? I’m not a religious person, so I’m rating this based off of the non-Christian parts of the plot, and it’s not fair for me to deduct points just because *I* forgot to read all the tags. That being said, I’ve read some Christian books that only have a few mentions of religion in them, with the rest of the plot being about something else entirely. This isn’t one of them. I don’t recommend this book for non-religious readers like myself, but if you’re a Christian who wants to be able to connect with your faith while reading a thriller, this is definitely a book you’d be interested in.

Onto solely the thriller/crime-fiction portions of this book -

Well, I didn’t really click with this author’s writing style. And because I didn’t click with the writing style, I didn’t click with the characters or the plot at all. One of the side characters was such a stereotypical mustache-twirling antagonist that I had to skim past the parts where he interacts with our protagonist and I found the other relationships between characters to be flat. The romantic relationship contained all of the chemistry and connection that’s seen between myself and a pair of socks.

(I am ambivalent towards socks)

I always look forward to a new novel by DIANN MILLS and have never been disappointed! TRACE OF DOUBT is no exception. It is a thrilling story, with just enough romance and a really good Christian message.
When Shelby Pierce comes out of jail after fifteen years and is dropped off at Valleysburg in Texas, she is not only physically strong, from having had to ward off attacks from inmates and guards, she is strong in the Lord, having had a very real conversion experience. However, she has secrets, which threaten her new found freedom, and that of her family and new friends.
Denton McClure, her friendly next door neighbour, also has a secret which Shelby uncovers, making her suspicious of his motives.
The characters are well defined, and, as the author portrays them, we see sacrifice, unconditional love and forgiveness, as opposed to greed, hatred, lies and manipulation.
There are so many twists and turns in this story that you will be kept in suspense right to the end.
I cannot recommend Trace of Doubt highly enough. It is an inspiring and exciting read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Tyndale House Publishers, The opinions in this review are completely my own.
