When an acid-tongued critic is found dead while onsite to write a review of the B&B, Holly joins forces with her boyfriend, Sheriff Evan Gray to try to solve the crime. Suspects abound, including the sheriff’s younger sister, Libby. Slashing Through the Snow is the third book in the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series, but it is the first one I’ve read. Nonetheless, it was easy to follow and very enjoyable. The setting is first-rate for a cozy mystery. The characters are delightfully quirky and there’s just enough romance so as to not overshadow the mystery plot.

Slashing Through the Snow: A Christmas Tree Famr Mystery by Jacqueline Frost where Holly White is running the Inn at her parents' addition to Reindeer Game, the family-owned Christmas Tree Farm in Mistletoe, Maine. Lots for people to do during the twelves days leading up to Christmas! Karen Moody, one of Holly's newest guest was here to review the Inn and for some reason she ends up dead face down in the snow with Holy's gift the nutcracker from Cookie! Holly has know Cookie since she was little girl and would do anything for her. Holly will need to solve this murder before Cookie ends in jail for murder! But Evan the town sheriff and Holly's boyfriends wants Holly to trust him that he will get to the truth.

This was the first book I read by Jacqueline Frost and I really enjoyed it! The characters were really well wirtten and the mystery kepted me guessing until the end.

My rating: 1 of 5 stars, I didn't care for it.

Book 3 in the series.

I'm not sure what happened to the main character after the first book, but I wanted to slap Holly multiple times. She was too stupid to live way too often in this book, and I get really tired of books where the amateur sleuth completely ignores their day job to nose around. And in this case, it's a brand new business and Holly is supposedly worried about a bad review from the person who ends up the murder victim. Honey, you need to be worrying about all your guests, because you're a terrible innkeeper!

This book just didn't sit well with me. And I don't understand why Holly's boyfriend, Sheriff Evan, puts up with her. She's turned into a nosy old biddy, and was truly insufferable.

I don't think I will read anymore in the series, if there are anymore to come.

I absolutely love this series . It is always so much fun returning to Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farms and the town of Mistletoe. This is a fun cozy mystery and I really like the characters. I can't wait to see what is next for Holly and Evan.

Is there anything better sounding than Christmas on an actual Christmas Tree Farm? I always love returning to Reindeer Games Christmas Tree farm and being back with Holly, Evan and the gang for another sleuthing opportunity to find a killer. This is the third book in the #mistletoe series. I love the town and the characters in this book. I haven’t read the first two books in the series so I did have a hard time keeping people straight. I’m excited to revisit the previous books and to keep going! I had to keep going to find out who the killer was. I enjoyed this book and will definitely keep going with the series!

I like this series, I really do. However, the plot was somewhat predictable. The killer and their motive were a bit of a distraction. Still, this is a fun series, and I enjoyed the book. I wish a book would take place not only during Christmas waiting a year for another book and having a time jump is a little of putting and it takes a bit to catch up.

I absolutely love this series around Christmas time. It is perfect to cozy down by the Christmas tree/fireplace with! I read the first 2 books for Christmas 2020 and book 3 for Christmas 2021 did not disappoint! I wish I has my own Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm without the murder of course! The mysteries and characters in this series are always chiefs kiss!

Holly White is now the innkeeper of the B&B at Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm. It's almost Christmas and the B&B is full. Most of the guests are having a wonderful time until Karen, a vicious B&B critic, is found dead in the toy drive box. Cookie's fingerprints are all over the murder weapon, which is to be expected since it was a gift from Cookie to Holly. Evan, the sheriff and Holly's boyfriend, knows Cookie isn't a murderer but must do his job.

Holly is determined to identify the real killer with the help of her many friends.

This book and the series are a joy to read.

This one may be my favorite in the series so far. I love holiday themed cozies and this one didn’t disappoint. The is plenty of Christmas cheer throughout the storyline that is well blended into a murder mystery. The mystery is well-crafted with plenty of misdirection and red herring. The characters are fun, relatable, and interesting. I recommend this book to fans of cozy mysteries and the holidays.

I borrowed this book last year and sadly just got a chance to finish it. I liked this book just as much as I liked the first 2 in the series. Now, I'm not sure about anybody else, but she left the storyline wide open for a fourth book.

This is the third book in this cozy mystery series and I have enjoyed the first 2 books previously.
In my opinion this series is very entertaining and although it is set squarely at Christmas time, I think you can read it at any time of the year- the main focus is more on the murder mystery rather than the Christmas season. Although with the setting being a Christmas tree farm, there is obviously a bit of gingerbread, elves and reindeer thrown in.
This time around it’s Cookie, the elderly sidekick of our lead character, who is being investigated for the death of a woman who has been hit around the head with a large Nutcracker nutcracker. Our lead character Holly of course sets about to prove Cookie’s innocence, much to the chagrin of her Sherriff boyfriend.
This is a very quick and enjoyable read with well written characters and plot twists. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, especially as this book ends on a very exciting note.

This well written Cozy has it all, plenty of plot twists and suspects, the perfect setting for a Christmas Coxy, and likeable characters. I laughed and I cried throughout the story. I didn't want to put it down.

Slashing Through the Snow is the third in the Christmas Tree Farm series, but the first I've read. Even having not read the first two, I was easily able to follow the story and the relationships of the characters. Prior stories were eluded to, but this only piqued my curiosity for wanting to read the first two in the series.

Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm in Mistletoe seems to be the ideal place to spend the Christmas holidays. However, one of the guests at the farm's inn, a very unlikable critic, is murdered and Innkeeper Holly White must work fast to keep her best friend Cookie from being arrested for committing the murder. Even though all of the clues seem to point towards Cookie, Holly believes otherwise and investigates on her own, much to the frustration of her boyfriend Sherriff Evan Gray. In the midst of the investigation, Holly must ensure that all the Christmas gifts collected for the toy drive are wrapped, the inn is prepared to host a wedding party, restock her line of jewelry at the farm's shop, and her responsibilities for the Reindeer Games are fulfilled. Holly is busy! With the help of friends Libby (Evan's sister), Ray (local reporter and Libby's boyfriend) and input from Cookie, Holly is able to discern the identity of the murderer. The funny part is that through normal police procedures, Evan identifies the murderer as well all while keeping Holly in the dark.

The town of Mistletoe and its residents very much have that small town feel. They all know each other, are friends, involved in each other's lives, supportive of and helpful to everyone. Definitely a place where everyone should want to visit, particularly over Christmas! The descriptions of the inn, shops and cafe at the farm definitely make you want to spend time there - sampling the cookies and cooking by Holly's mom, shopping for jewelry that Holly has made from empty wine bottles, and enjoying the inn's hospitality. All of these details, along with the 'side stories' make this a very enjoyable read.

Slashing Through the Snow should be read when you can spend time getting lost in the story and details. I read the book in a single setting and regretted doing so, particularly if this is the last in the series! I would hope the publisher reconsiders and we are able to spend more time in Mistletoe!

Literally the o my negative mark is that it took so long for this to get published! It is a few years behind book one and two. It was again another cute holiday in Mistletoe, but poor Cookie gets accused of murder. Cookie is an excellent character along with Holly.

I was so looking forward to this installment, especially since there was such a long break between the second and third book, but unfortunately this one was just ok for me. To be honest, this was my least favorite of the series. Some things were too predictable and for some reason our main character seemed very childish, almost like she was throwing a tantrum every time she was told to stop snooping.

If another installment will be released in this series, I will still read it because I really enjoy the family aspect and seeing their businesses being run. I do wish there was more of that in this installment, including more about their new inn, but the story did not allow for that with what occurs here. Hoping for more of that if another installment is planned for the future.

Cookie’s prints are found on the murder weapon, but half the town has received scathing reviews from Karen, making them suspects as well. I love a good cozy mystery, and this one was extra special because it was smart, quick and mature. I couldn’t wait to sit, read, and devour it!

I think this is my favorite book in the series! This is a MUST READ for Anyone who loves cozy mysteries and/or a holiday theme! I really hope the series continues because I love the world that Jacqueline Frost has created 🎄

After reading this book I had the urge to make whoopie pies and eat gumdrops, or rather spice drops, drink warm and cozy drinks and ponder what the killer was thinking. I was led astray by the red herrings, but it was definitely an entertaining read. To live in such a wonderfully cozy town that revels in the joys of the Christmas season, only to have a rat of a reviewer show up to do nothing but try and stir things up. Mistletoe is a magical place full of holiday cheer and Reindeer Games, seriously, there are Reindeer Games at the Reindeer Games tree farm adjacent to the newest cozy B&B run by Holly White, innkeeper, glass jewelry creator and part time sleuth, much to the grinchy chagrin of her delightful detective boyfriend. But what can you expect a girl to do when her close and slightly nutty friend is top of the suspect list because of an off the cuff comment about knocking some holiday spirit into said reviewer while holding aloft a nice shiny nutcracker. Holly is dashing through the snow hot on the trail and trying her best to not become a victim or give her family and friends a heart attack. An easy story to get lost in, as in you lose track of time while reading because the author does such a good job sprinkling in bits of backstory while also progressing the plot. Looking forward to the next holiday adventure for Holly White and crew!
