I feel like I did not get to fully appreciate this book due to not reading the other prior. It is a good mix of a lovely Hallmark Christmas movie mixed with mystery. I do think that you can still read this book but you will not have the complete understanding of the characters without reading the others first. I think that this is a good way to read a "Christmas" novel without the romance.

Mistletoe, Maine could very well be the merriest place on Earth! Innkeeper, Holly White, who also makes custom jewelry; loves the Christmas spirit that’s displayed everywhere you go in town until a bloody corpse in a velvet toy donation bag is left on her porch. One of Holly’s good friends, Cookie, is accused of murdering the victim so Holly sets out to expose the culprit and wrap up the crime investigation before Christmas Day.

Reading this story is like opening presents at Christmas. Page after page unwraps beautiful, descriptive holiday scenes that are easy to picture in my mind. The nifty sleigh action scene was one of my favorites and it sped up my pulse rate, and I loved all the teddy bears! The main characters are enjoyable and appealing and the villains are mean and get arrested at the story’s end. Evan, Holly’s boyfriend, has a delightful surprise for her that makes the Christmas season even merrier. I highly recommend this story and the previous two books in the excellent Christmas Tree Farm cozy series.

Finally a book #3! This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. The characters are great, likeable, and believable. The mysteries are a little on the scarier side and keep you guessing until the end. This one is the first one with the inn being open and it was nice to read about the finished inn after having it being built during the last book. I like the relationship between Holly and Evan, but thought the ending was a little strange with their relationship not being too much of a focus. They didn't really seem like they were too serious with dating. I really hope they are more books in this series!

When I began reading this series, there are two previous installments, I had no idea that I would be swept away into a magical place full of Christmas memories, traditions, food, and family, and murder! This is a winning combination when a little murder is thrown in for good measure.

Jacqueline Frost is very good as describing the sites, sounds and traditions of Christmas in such detail, you feel you are right there in Mistletoe, Maine.. Holly White, her family and friends all congregate around Christmas to participate in holiday festivities. The White family owns the Christmas Tree Farm where locals and tourists alike come to participate in the Reindeer games, sing Christmas carols, eat festive food.

In this installment, Karen Moody a writer, who is trying to become an investigative reporter. Is going all over Mistletoe writing poor and damaging reviews of the different businesses around Mistletoe. After building a reputation as a cruel and unfair critic, she ends up dead on the grounds of the Christmas Tree farm. Holly's best friend, Cookie is the prime suspect, because of her connection with the murder weapon. There are others who may have had a motive, such as Steve, Karen's ex husband. Holly will have to use her sleuthing skills to find the killer to clear Cookie's name and to save her own life.

I love this series and hope it continues.

Slashing through the Snow is the third book in this series. I really enjoyed the first two books and when I saw the third book I am not ashamed to admit that I did a little happy dance. I love the characters in this novel and love trying to work out who the murderer is, which of course I was once again wrong.

This is a great series and I love the Christmas setting. I can't wait to keep reading these novels!

Characters have great personality and I love how we have got to know them as the series has gone on.

Slashing Through the Snow is a really fantastic Christmas-themed cozy mystery. The story takes place around the Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm and its B&B run by Holly White. A recent guest turns up dead and she is off to find a killer and clear her friend Cookie's name. I loved the setting and the atmosphere, it is perfectly Christmassy. The characters are very well written, Holly and her friends and family are a great bunch and all have their own unique characteristics. The mystery was solid and had me guessing up until near the end. This is a great book and I can't wait to read more of the Christmas Tree Farm Mysteries.

I loved it! Fact, I did read this book out of season but there was enough holiday spirit in the book to get me in the perfect mood. When I started reading this book I had no idea that it was the 3rd book. There were a few references in the book that hinted at the past but I was able to follow and understand the story without any problems.

I loved the characters and want to be friends with Holly, Cookie, Evan, etc. The mystery is interesting and well written, there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. You think you figured it out but then the next chapter you see you were wrong.

In the beginning, I felt it was set out the be the perfect Hallmark Christmas movie and then it got mixed with a little bit of mystery and bookclub detective work 😍 just loved it. A perfect Christmas book.

I definitely recommend this book and I already bought the 2 previous books myself can't wait to read them.

'Slashing Through the Snow' has everything for a perfect cozy - humor, romance and a great mystery. There were many surprises in this offering of Jacqueline Frost's A Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series. I was actually disappointed at the culprit, because I didn't want that person to have been guilty. There are many layers to this series, and a great set-up for a showdown in Boston involving Evan's sister Libby. I can't wait!

A holiday theme story, in a wonderful place called Mistletoe.
The story focuses on Christmas activities, friendship, loyalty and sense of community in a small town.
This is the third year since Holly White is in town working for her family’s business and coincidentally, a murder has happened every time.
Love the characters and the whodunnit atmosphere of the plot.
Definitely recommend it.

Seasonal Sleuthing....
A Christmas Tree Farm mystery and Maine innkeeper Holly is back to don her seasonal sleuthing hat once again when a gift wrapped body turns up. With a likeable protagonist in Holly, a colourful cast of supporting characters and a plethora of suspects this is an entertaining, seasonal read. Escapist reading.

Yes, yes, yes! I was so excited to see finally see this book after being a big fan of the previous books in the series.

Once again it is Christmas at Reindeer Games and as is becoming a gruesome Christmas tradition someone is murdered and one of Holly's family and friends is the number one suspect,
This time a B&B critic staying at the Reindeer Games B&B is murdered and Cookie's prints are on the murder weapon .So naturally Holly has to get involved to save Cookie from spending Christmas in the cells. But who did the cranky critic push to murder? Is it someone Holly already knows or a visitor to her B&B?

I love the setting of these books and Reindeer Games sounds like the most magical place to spend Christmas. This time there wasn't as much focus on the Hearth (a gingerbread house style café) or all the Christmas traditions that have been mentioned in the previous books, which I thought was a bit of a shame, but I still enjoyed the Christmas magic of the overall book.

I was so excited to see there was a new Christmas Tree Farm book, but was a wee bit disappointed; I feel like she just keeps marching into danger even when everyone tells get to not interfere. Even the suspect says please don’t interfere! Other than her propensity to disregard everyone around Her’s feelings, the mystery was good. Lots of red herrings and plenty of other suspects, and a good tie up at the end; definitely hadn’t guessed where that was going.

Didn't realised this was part of a series until I went onto good reads.

This is the third installment of the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery Series. I don’t think it’s necessary to read the first two in order to follow along with this one, but knowing more about the characters and side stories will probably make it more enjoyable.

The story’s central character is Holly White. Her parents own the local tree farm and she is the innkeeper of their new bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, murders keep happening right before Christmas, and Holly keeps finding herself caught up in the mystery and in the murderer’s line of sight.

I love the setting (small town with a whole lot of Christmas cheer), and I love the main characters (Cookie and Theodore are my favorites). The murder itself itself kept me guessing until about three quarters of the way in, and I didn’t find it to be as far fetched as cozy mystery murders tend to be. There were several viable suspects, and although we’re dealing with murder there’s still a lightness to the way it’s handled. The procedural element does become a bit predictable, but the story was entertaining enough for me to overlook most of that. The romantic element has always taken a backseat, but this one includes a development that I found really sweet and endearing.

I have absolutely been loving Jacqueline Frost and this series. We read the first one for bookclub and I was hooked. To find newest book in the series on NetGalley is fantastic! Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm is going into the B&B business, and Holly White is looking forward to her new role as innkeeper. Even better, Mistletoe, Maine's sheriff, Evan Gray, has deputized his little sister Libby to help Holly wrap presents for Mistletoe's toy drive. But a cold wind ruffles the cheery holiday decorations when a new guest checks in: Cleo, a vicious B&B critic, who could make or break the new inn. And the short December days turn even darker when Evan and Libby find Cleo's dead body in the gift-wrapped toy donation box.

Loved reading this book and series. One of my favorite authors i highly recommend her books and series. I suggest reading in order.

Between taking care of Karen and organizing several Christmas related events in town Holly barely has time to take a breath. Things take a turn when Karen turns up dead and Holly's friend, Cookie, is the number one suspect. Holly puts on her amateur sleuth hat in order to clear Cookie's name.

I feel like I got dropped in the middle of a Hallmark Christmas movie combined with a Hannah Swensen mystery. I think I would have had a better understanding of the characters if I had read the first two books in this series, but I don't think it's totally necessary. What I liked best about this book was how self aware it was...it broke the 4th wall when it referenced how year after year Holly solves murders at Christmas. While the Christmas theme was cute and a cozy mystery is always fun...there's no way you could have solved this whodunit without the big reveal at the end.
