Too good to end to soon!

Not a fan of the cliffhanger but on the other hand I had such a great time while reading this story.

I enjoyed the artwork and color pallet, also the storyline although basic it is also unique and fresh.

I’m a big fan of graphic novels and I totally recommend this one for a short and fresh but also entertaining read.

I enjoyed this charmingly quirky YA graphic novel. Excellent illustrations, especially the nuanced expressions and mannerisms of each different side of Elle(s). A coming of age storyline, but with a depth... tackling mental health in a young person's life in an approachable way. I've been trying to read a more diverse range of literary styles and this graphic novel was a great addition to the mix!

This was such a great graphic novel and I need volume 2 asap! The artwork was phenomenal and I love how the colours were used to portray Elle's mood swings and how each of her personalities were drawn with different aesthetics so we could differentiate between them. I think the authour did a great job with portraying a character with bipolar disorder and it's great to have more representation like that in stories. I really love how supportive Elle's friends were of her and I think this is just such a great story. That cliffhanger ending though...I need more!

Wow! I loved it! The art style, the story... everything! I really want the sequel soon!

Elle is the new girl in school. She makes friends and tries to live a normal life. But Elle has a secret, she has multiple personalities and she can't control them so she gets in a few weird situations...

Even though it's so short I loved it. The art style is beautiful, it's so colorful and fun. It ended in a cliffhanger so I really want to keep reading this series.

I love how we actually see the different personalities of Elle thanks to the hair color so we understand it better. The friendships here were great, Elle's friends were there for her every time. The mystery is pretty interesting and I want to know more!

It was so cute and beautiful.

Wow, going into this I didn't have any expectations whatsoever, but let me tell you, I am hooked! The artwork is amazing and the story is new and interesting! In just about 100 pages, the story of a girl named Elle already has us readers invested in this series and I cannot wait to read how this continues! The story ends on a cliffhanger, so I think the authors new exactly what they were doing to us and the story-building was very intense.

Elle goes to a new school, where she immediately finds a new group of friends to hang out with. But we soon get to know Elle a bit better, it seems she cannot handle stress situations really well and depending on her mood a different side of her appears. Literally! Elle seems to have multiple personalities that take over her body and the amazing thing about this graphic novel, is that we can always clearly recognize what "personality" is in charge, due to her changing hair colour. I think that's a pretty awesome way of displaying this and making it easier for readers to follow through the story. So, Elle tries to find out why she is the way she is, but then ends up discovering a dark secret about her family. We are all awaiting what's going to happen next and I can't repeat this enough: I really want to read the second issue asap!!

No matter if you've never read graphic novels or comics before, or if you're into fantasy rather than fiction, I can recommend this to anybody and everybody! Pick it up, you won't regret it. And it takes you less than an hour to read in one sitting!

Thank you so much to Netgallery, for giving me a copy of this graphic novel in exchange of an honest review.
The cover of the graphic novel caught my attention, it's beautiful, colorful and I had never seen such a design.
Although it seemed like a typical cliché as soon as I started reading since the main character is the new girl on the school, I decided to give it a try and I am very glad I did it because I loved this graphic novel.
In my experience, I have read graphic novels that deals very well with the inclusion of people who, in some situations, are marginalized from society and society this graphic novel is not far behind, it also informs and has excellent reflections. I liked each page more, it was very entertaining and quick to read.
I need to know more about Elle and her group of friends, it is impossible to empathize with them and want to know more.
I highly recommend it to everyone, read it, you will not regret it.

Elle(s) is an absolutely amazing graphic novel, about a young girl, Elle, who attends a new school and makes new friends who don't know one thing about her: she has multiple personalities that are as different from one another as it gets. But will she tell her friends that and will they find out about her past?

this was a very fun read. It was also a really short read, 100 pages, you can easily read in half an hour, that captures your attention with every panel. The art is amazing and really beautifully drawn and the dialogue too is well done, without annoyingly long speech bubbles, and keeps the readers interested throughout the entirety of the novel.

While I'm aware that this is only the first book, I was a little disappointed at the lack of explanation for Elle's past. It got mentioned, but it felt like that was only there to make the readers interested in the next volume without giving them any clues as to what happened.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading it and I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking for an interesting, short graphic novel.

Seriously?? This is it!? I have so many questions! I need answers! :D

This was so good! Elle is the new girl at school and soon makes friends with some great people. But due to too much stress and pressure she's suddenly starting to change, making it hard for everyone to keep up with her very different personalities. There are five of them and I love how they are portrayed by the change of her hair colour. With the help of her friends Elle starts to explore her condition and we find out there is one evil personality trapped deep inside her, commanding the others, waiting to break free. It all ends with a major cliffhanger and the plot seems to be gettng quite heavy. I can't wait to see how it continues!

The art style is soo gorgeous, that alone is a reason I would highly recommend this graphic novel! The characters are fantastic and the whole story is a unique representation of mental health.

The New Girl is the first book in the Elle(s) graphic novel series written by Kid Toussain and art by Aveline Stokart. Elle is just another teenage girl… most of the time. Bubbly and good-natured, she wastes no time making friends on her first day at her new school. But Elle has a secret: she hasn’t come alone. She’s brought with her a colorful mix of personalities, which come out when she least expects it… Who is Elle, really? And will her new friends stand by her when they find out the truth?

The New Girl is a beautifully drawn graphic novel. At first Elle seems like the average girl, dealing with a new school, new friends, and the relationship with her parents. Most every reader can relate to aspects of this book. However, Elle has much more going on than the average teen- and I think it is portrayed in a thoughtful and engaging manner. I think the honest discussions she has with friends, and the way the art help differentiate the different aspects of Elle are part of what really make the whole thing work. My only, and huge, complaint is the cliff like ending. There are questions I want answered, and things I want to see play out. I am not on the hunt for whatever comes next.

The New Girl is a great graphic novel that gives readers a great perspective on how it feels to be in Elle's shoes. I just need the second volume- now!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was thrilled to see a graphic novel dealing with Mental Health issues. Seeing the different Elle(s) change when our Heroine has emotional reactions or mood swings was a really good way, artistically, to show the changes in someone who may have mental health issues. Elle's friends reactions were also portrayed in a very real way, confusion, anger, and struggling to understand. While the first volume felt a little short, there is plenty of story and AMAZINGLY beautiful artwork to be drawn into. A great read and a recommendation for any teen.

How can it just end like that!? 😭

I was starting to really get into the story, and then it suddenly stopped! What am I going to do until the next book comes out..

At first I'd assumed the story-line would revolve around teen drama & high-school worries, but around halfway in you discover that there's a lot more to Elle's story!
The artist does a great job of illustrating all of Elle's different personalities, and I truly sped through this graphic novel!

Will definitely be on the look out for the rest of the series, but in the mean time I highly recommend you check this out!

Rating: 4/5

Thank you to NetGalley and Le Lombard for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of Elle(s).

Elle is the new girl in school. She's beautiful and funny, and makes pretty fast a new group of friends. However, Elle has a secret she don't want other people know...
One day her mood change quickly and drastically, that's when things starts to go badly and Elle’s secret is exposed. Her friends can't recognize her and it seems she kinda hate them but the next day Elle is "normal" again. They want to know, we also want to know.

A graphic novel that I really enjoyed. A great start for discover dissociative identity disorder.
Elle’s multiple personalities are depicted in varying colors, so we can know what she’s going through.
The Elles were so interesting and I really want to know more about the backstory of Elle and her secret.
I love how everyone have a unique space - a world - in Elle and I'm extremely curious about how all started.

I would recommend this to anyone who is a lover of middle grade/ YA graphic novels.

Thank you to NetGalley and Le Lombard for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of Elle(s). This graphic novel has really beautiful art and important themes of mental health, neurodivergence, and acceptance. It was also a very quick read, yet the most interesting parts of the story seemed to be happening right at the end with a classic cliff-hanger. In addition, the characterization feel a little flat, and the characters didn't seem real. In the end, a story that tweens will most likely enjoy but isn't sticking with me as a particularly engaging or well-told story.

This GN introduces the reader to Elle, the new kid at school. She makes friends, but her moods change quickly and drastically, putting everyone on edge. But when a friend notices there are no baby pictures from the first weeks of Elle’s life, they band together to find out why.

This book was very short, but the characters were interesting and likable. It would be nice to have more to the book;; this feels more like a trailer that gets the reader interested in the rest of the story and doesn’t resolve any of the points that are brought up.

I would give this 4-5 stars, but I don’t like the way I was left hanging. Unfortunately, that brings it down to 3.

My thanks to Le Lombard and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick easy to read comic book that was funny and easy to understand had vibarent pictures and a complex storyline. I liked how the heroine had ups and downs to each of the personalities so not one could be labled as her 'normal' personality.

This was a lovely story of friendship and an intriguing first installment but

—spoilers—

I really thought Elle was going to have disassciative identity disorder. I felt that the medium perfectly showed who was in control and how friendships can still exist even if someone is not neurotypical as long as they are honest with their friends, they will love them for them.

But, then the story seemed to imply that it was more of a magic/alien/gene mutation kind of thing that caused her multiple personalities and I was a little crushed. This could still end up being the plot, again this is only the first volume, but that was a bit of a disappointment for me.

Still a lovely story. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

Hello! Hi!

I can not believe we are already at Wednesday somehow! This week is flying by, I feel like I am accomplishing so much while at the same time have some much I want to get done before Friday comes around. I have recently been reading a lot of novels (which I love and is amazing)! However, I was recently in the mood for a graphic novel, now I usually have my longer graphic novel series that I read such as Saga, Giant Days, and Fence but I am still forever waiting for a new Saga and Giant Days is over (but I will literally cross my fingers and hope forever we will get more, I still have not read that very last little volume because sadness)! So I picked up the Elles volume 1 on a whim to give something new a try!

SPOILERS AHEAD

Elle is a teenage girl however she is anything but ordinary, she would just prefer that literally no one knew that fact about her. Elle is starting a new school and she plans to try her best to keep her secrets inside. She makes a new group of friends at her new school pretty fast however, things go badly when Elle’s secret is exposed. Elle expects the normal reaction however, that is not what happens at all. With her new friends standing by her side, Elle feels much more confident to try and figure out more about her secret!

I went into this graphic novel without really knowing anything about it but I really enjoyed it and found myself at the end being like noooo that was way too short. I really wanted so much more so I will definitely be looking for volume two when it comes out. The Elles were so interesting and I really want to know more about the backstory of Elle and her secret I feel like we were on the brink of learning something when the volume ended. I really do not want to give too much away about the story of Elle and her secret but I highly recommend picking this up! I think you will find yourself wanting volume two!

P.S. I think the colors used in this graphic novel are absolutely amazing!

Goodreads Rating: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel. Elle’s multiple personalities are brilliantly depicted in varying colors and demonstrate what she’s going through and her thought process through each. Her motley crew of friends make the story that much more interesting and make you feel like you are a part of the group. Along with that, mental health is such an important topic to discuss, and the author and illustrator do an excellent job of depicting it in such an interesting way. I can’t wait to read the next edition of Elle’s story!

Beautiful art and a rarely touched on subject for those living with dissociative identity disorder. Elle is a fun spunky girl who sometimes is a different version of herself, which makes having a social life challenging to say the least. She has some amazing friends that stick by her and on top of dealing with her other personalities she also finds there is a mystery surrounding her birth. Amazing first volume with one heck of a cliffhanger!
