Thank you to netgalley for providing an e-galley for review. Midlife Bites by Jenn Mann is an unflinchingly honest look at what happens when women "reach a certain age". Instead of being told to just deal with it and it'll pass in 10-15 years (!) Jenn does what she does best and takes to her blog and asks the best and hardest questions about life, love and relationships.

Excellent read for us midlife folks with a sense of humor. It explores a lot of topics that you may not be comfortable discussing with your doctor, friends, or partner. The book oozes humor and has lots of great anecdotes from the author's life. Definite purchase for lbiraries!

If you are a woman of a "certain age", you will definitely enjoy this book. I wasn't familiar with Jen Mann or her blog People I Want to Punch in the Throat, but after reading this book she feels like a friend. She is just so funny, real and relatable. It's part personal and part self-help book, but the best parts of the book is when she just writes about her life. She makes the mundane seem hysterical.
If you're in need of a laugh, and what middle aged woman isn't, pick up this book.

This book made me spit out my coffee, laugh out loud and nod adamantly in agreement to what Jen presented. I would recommend this book to women of all ages, because the things she discuss are so relatable. She shares her experiences concerning married life, parenthood, finding "me time", meeting other's expectations, what to do with our spare times, feelings, fears, and the trials of aging. And there are some things a reader doesn't want to hear, but needs to hear.... yeah, middle age bites, but it's okay.

Jen admits she may not be everyone's "cup of tea". Maybe not, but it will not stop me from recommending it to every woman (and a few men) who expresses their frustrations and concerns about the trials and tribulations of womanhood in general. I may offer a warning, as the topics are discussed frankly, openly and no prim niceties (and a lot of the "f-bombs"), but I don't know anyone who doesn't need a "Jen" in their life to say "yeah, it sucks, but we can make the most of it". The title is hugely appropriate... midlife does bit, but with books such as this, at least midlife can be made not just bearable, but enjoyable.

Full of honesty, this book lays bare what many women in midlife feel is too shameful or uncomfortable to talk about. And Jenn Mann does it in a way that is humorous! This title is refreshing and just what I (and likely other 40-somethings) need to hear. I'm predicting this one will become a best-seller.

Thank you, Jen Mann, for writing this book. Literally 2 days before I was approved for this ARC, I asked myself almost all of the questions Jen asks herself in the beginning of this book. Everything she said in this book needed to be said and more importantly it needs to be heard by so, so many of us midlife ladies. Of course I was laughing out loud but there were times when I was so touched and just felt understood.
